Don't look to the past and complain. Don't look to the present and hide in a corner. Just look to the future and smile.

So besides whining and complaining, does anybody here feel...good?

Disney just bought Pixar. The two studios recently announced updates on future films, most of which should be great. There is a new surge in Imagineering with Laseteer in charge. Narnia is still a popular movie and Disney will be distributing more. Oswald the Lucky Rabbit is now at Disney. Jetix is trying new things, which is always good. Pirates 2 comes out this year. Donald Duck is going strong in Finland!...

Is there anybody else here excited about what might happen? Does somebody have something good to say? Because I am really excited about all of these going ons!

You forgot Disney owning the Muppets and actually DOING something with them. But yes, things are looking REALLY good for Disney. Their comics are as good as they've ever been and are actually pretty successful and Pixar is back with Disney stopping all that Toy Story 3 nonsense. Disney Afternoon shows are on DVD. Kim Possible is returning because of fan demand. A new Gargoyles comic book is coming out.

Things are going GOOD but I don't think anyone here will EVER acknowledge that fact.

I'm at the point where I believe John Lasseter is the kind of guy who would re-open Disney's 2-D animation studios eventually. I like Disney right now.

That would be very, very awesome. A 2D animated movie from Disney with Lasseter at the helm.

Oh, and I'm a bit upset with how Disney is handling the Muppets- after Oz tanked, Kermit's 50th anniversary tour and the Muppet holiday special were cancelled. However, I'm happy they're sticking with the reality show project.

I for one feel VERY good. I like the new head cheese Iger a lot so far. First thing he did was fire everyone connected with the Muppets property Eisner bought for some damn reason (instead of spending the money on something like, say, upgrades at the parks, which need them badly). Then he buys Pixar and puts one of its creative geniuses in charge of the faltering Disney animation unit. I think things look VERY hopeful. I can't wait to see what happens.

I'm totally hopeful that thanks to these recent developments things at Disney will eventally get much, much better. Of course they'e got to get out the rubbish like The Wild out of the way, but hopefully these kind of awful projects will be behind hem with the Pixar guys kicking their bums into gear. The news that they got Oswald back was also very lovely.

After reading a number of posts and seeing what is happening in the Disney Animation board Currently, I'm going to play what I like to call "Devil's Advocate" here.

First off I've read all the posts that I've seen and I tend to agree The merger with Pixar is a good idea, Putting Lassiter in charge of the Animation section of the Disney Company is a good move, and in fact some of the shows are good, (with a few exceptions...

So my question is this: Why aren't people talking more about the Disney Animation of New even though it's a viable question

After all I've noted a Disturbing pattern.. New television shows at Disney Channel/ Toon Disney/ Jetix have come out, Emperor's New School has been out now for about 5 weeks, New Episodes of Get Ed on Jetix have been Playing, Even the New show A.T.O.M. has now been out at least 5 weeks, and yet I see this disturbing pattern.

No one is commenting on these shows or anything new or exciting.

I mean Look at the posts that are up on Page 1 of this forum. (Right after you read this post.) You see Talk about Darkwing Duck, (Both the Series as well as the 2nd Wave of Darkwing Duck Toys, You see Talk about the new Gargoyles and Tron Comics,
and yet you hardly see a Comment about things like A.T.O.M. or Get Ed, or even The Emperor's New School. I also noted that Talkback threads are coming few and Far Between. I have put up at least 5 A.T.O.M threads and at least 4 new Get Ed Threads, and No one is posting.

It's like sure we're excited that we're getting Pixar in, but it's like with Disney Television Animation in terms of Television shows, it's like a dying art. (And yet folks are saying that 2D Animation is being Revived? (Yeah right, if it's being revived, why is no one talking about it?)

So am I Optimistic about Disney? Yes I'm very optimistic but now I'm calling myself a Pessimistic Optimist cause compared to last year or the years previous I've seen very little talk about shows or New Disney Movies.. Sure they've scrapped Toy Story 3, but then No one comments on Cars.

It's like Night and Day in here, one moment people are interested, then the next they aren't. so my question is this?

Have the Disney Fans Really Lost Interest in Disney? or has this been just a Lull in things before things really heat up (or Cool down) ?

Your thoughts on this?

I dunno about anyone else, but most of the new stuff just doesn't interest me -- totally because of what the show's about. I never got on board with School or Ed and I feel like I'm about to bail on ATOM since it hasn't moved an inch since the premiere.

I've just completed the recent seasons with Booster and SRMT and am stuck with the rest in the ever-growing abyss between seasons of WITCH.

Just how big was the Emporer movie to begin with? Was it big enough to launch a successful TV sequel series?

It's just that they're all so awfully bland. I did sincerely, which I retrospectively realize is a very stupid word to apply to any effort involving passive entertainment aimed at least a decade under your age group, try to watch an episode of A.T.O.M. one Monday night while I was home on winter break, well more I was looking for something other to do than read forty more pages of Steven Skowronek talking about nothing with intimidating vocabulary, but after less than the first act I had forgotten what was watching and went downstairs to make some tea and then came back to work my way through Skowronek and a cup of Twinings Earl Grey.

I wouldn't recommend their Earl Grey, by the way, it has a bitter sting under the citrus that deprives the blend of some of its pleasantness.

So what I am sensing here is that Disney has slipped from Greatness to Blandness , as pointed out by both SteveR and Delthayre. I tend to agree that while shows Like School and Even Atom and Ed are there, there's no real Plot progression in Ed, School is the re-run / Rehash of Emperor's New Groove and even with A.T.O.M rather then seeing a real positive plot or even feedback going we're hearing on how bland this is.

(and with Disney and Pixar now in force with on another don't you think it's High Time Pixar and Disney really sit down and start Generating some really good shows that will keep more then the attention of a 5 year old?

Until that happens or until things are improving, it's time to say that Disney needs change still and they need to really get it in gear and start producing hits rather then near misses.

After all, 'almost 'only counts in Horseshoes, Handgrenades, and Small Tactical Nukes.. Not shows that are bland.

but until Disney and Pixar produce the goods, and show us otherwise, it's still 'business as usual' at Disney/Pixar.
