As it turns out, according to wwe.com and this video, Saturday Night's Main Event will be given a 2-hour primetime slot instead of the customary SNL replacement, hour and a half slot.

So much for tradition. It also should be of note that Smackdown is a part of this, compared to the rumors that this was going to be a RAW-only show. Since Smackdown is on a rival network.

Well at least, TNA is unopposed that night. I was worried about which promotion to watch that night.

Well I suppose that's a good sign, that NBC has so much faith in the broadcast that they don't want to have it on so late. I was looking forward to it being in the traditional timeslot though. Ah well. I'm glad SmackDown! will be included.

This could be good for the whole wrestling business.

Smackdown should be showcased as well as Raw, no matter what the Powers That Be may want.
And I'm so glad it's not on late night, because people still have the oppurtunuty to watch TNA, and it won't get obliterated by SNME.

If this works out well, this could be the start of the next upswing of the wrestling business.

I'll be switching between SNME and Toonami, though.

I'm glad it'll be co-brand. I hate it that Raw gets the plumb gigs for WWE, so it'll be good to see SD get its deserved due on one of the major networks. I wonder what kind of stuff had to be worked out for this to happen though.

They'd better not screw this up. Time to stop being lazy and start writing and booking stuff that won't be half-embarrassing to watch. I know they can do it if they really try.

And I definitely hope they don't do something like that Raw "return to USA" show, where they get so caught up in the historical significance of it that they spend more time on "nostalgia" and retrospectives than on actually doing a show.

People tend to forget that the last Main Event was a prime time special (November 1992, Fox). HBK beat British Bulldog for the IC title that night. Vince must've remembered, and in trying to be charitable to the competition (?), decided to move SNME into prime time, since NBC uses Saturday as a "throwaway" night, usually with Law & Order repeats.

Downside to this for me is that I'll miss part of the show (wonder if they'll do Unlimited that night?). Saturday is bowling night, and I'll miss almost half of the show. Maybe it'll be repurposed on USA later that night?

Rumor has it that this will have a "special-event" type feel to it. Not the old format of 3 or 4 matches with the main event being the 1st or 2nd (Ironically like SNL with the top skits on first, and the bad skits at the end). And also no skits too.

I guess I would compare it to "The Clash of Champions".
