Hey guys, I need your input. Do my comic page scans look better than the ones over at the Comics Continuum?

Oh heck yeah! They also load a lot quicker, too! You're doing a great job on them, Brian!

Is it just me or do these pages actually look pretty darn good? I wasn't a big fan of Delaney's ADCU but it turns out his take on the "BT animated style" now shows great improvement! That GL on the second page looks quite snazzy...

That was my exact thought, too. This art is so much better than his previous "Advenutres" work. I was just realy suprised how on model this work was - and I can't wait to see it! This may turn out to be the best issue yet of the series...

man, I'm thinking of just subscribing to this comic..is that possible? cuz going out and hunting for it each month could get tiresome...

as for the CC vs. TZ's pics..I'd say TZ's are better..they're bigger and easier to read....

Told ya Delaney wouldn't let us down!!! YAY!!

Actually, I was a little surprise by two things. Firstly, his new more on-model style resembles Ku's work a lot (which kinda bugs me!) and that the arms of the characters are a little too long. But besides that, I'M JUST HAPPY TO SEE YOU BACK DELANEY!!!!

Hey DB
Thanks for the kind words, although I think Ku and I are both just really trying to nail the new design down and hence the similarity. As for the arms, check out the new model sheets they appear a bit longer than the previous designs probably to compliment the wider torsos and longer legs. I found it especially noticable on Wonder Woman, but I'll tell ya, one of the things I love about these new designs is how much more stylized they are.
Wait till you see the rest of the issue, there's some big fight stuff I hope you're going to really like!
Cheers

Hey Dick
Wow! Thanks for the high praise. I hope I can win over all of the people who didn't care for my previous "Adventures" work. That was definately something I was going for!
Please let me know what you think of the rest of the book on the 9th.
Thanks2

It was definately my goal to really go for a strict adherence to the look this time around. On "Adventures" I was trying to push the Toth and Kirby influences more and lost out on some of Bruce Timm's subtlties so it's really nice to hear that some of the people who didn't like the ADCU stuff are liking this so far.
Hope you enjoy the rest of the issue
Cheers

I think you may have accomplished that. When someone says your art sort of mirrors Min S Ku, to me, that is definatly a positive comment! I am reall ylooking forward to this issue. Look forward to my comments on this...

I love this cover! It's so awesome.

I was surprised how the coloring really gave the cover that extra "oomph" that it needed. It didn't look too good in B & W, but it looks really nice in color. Sure, Superman's hand looks messed up - but that is a fine cover.

Hey Dick
I really have to agree with you on the coloring of the cover, it ROCKS!! Well sure Supes hand looks messed up he just got the tar beaten out of him ;)
Thanks again for the high praise

Great to hear from you again and looking forward to your Justice League Batman sketch!

My comic shop had a preview copy of JLA #3, and I couldn't help quickly flipping through it. Let me say that your art is heads and shoulders above that the first two issues, though they were decent. I'm not a huge fan of either Rousseau's (who too often uses very thin lines and unproportional figures) or Ku's (who seems to draw as on-model as possible, though the results end up looking rather stiff). You've managed to keep the characters on model, proportional and flowing, as well as visual interesting. As for your your previous work in Adventures in the Dc Universe, I don't feel it was too far off the mark. Though I am glad to see Wonder Woman animated on Justice League, I think I preferred the way you drew her in "Adventures". Although I realize that you aren't going to go against the current designs, I hope you don't stop yourself from letting that old style into the new look. When you drew her before, she had a very B: TAS sort of fluidity and smoothness that was very asthetically pleasing.

Also, one thing that all the recent animated books have been lacking in are those thicker, bolder-type outlines we saw more of in The Batman Adventures and the first half of Superman Adventures. Your figures on the first few pages seem to incorporate more of Rousseau's thinner lines. Are we likely to see the thicker type outlines (when applicable) in JLA or do you think the thinner computer-drawn lines of the JL show have rendered them obselete? Thanks for always being here to chat! It's really refreshing to see an artist care as much about the book as we do!

Hey DB
Thanks Tons'O. It's interesting, I use quite a bit of thick n' thin in my pencil line when I draw but each inker approaches it differently. I think you're observations about the line look being more streamlined to work with the TV show is probably right on the mark. I will say this though,I love what I've seen so far of Randy Elliott's inks. Check out his speed line thick n' thin on page 2 when GL is dragging the space ark, outstanding!! Plus look at how he didn't wimp out on any of the hundreds of stasis tubes on page 3 & 4. Each tube and the figure within is handeled beautifully, I was so stoked when I saw those pages, I am really pleased with what I've seen. An inker can either push pencils forward in boldness and character or pull them down with flatness and stiffness but R.E. has really maintained the purity of the pencil line while really helping to give depth and solidity.
Thanks for the Wonder Woman comments, when I was drawing her on this book I was watching that i didn't inject too much of my version of her since the JL version is so darn cool, but I was pleased to see how this version was handled as a really tall and powerful woman which is what I was going for when I drew her in "Adventures"
Thanks for the Observations!
John

Hey Mr. D! Great work on this issue!

I haven't been around the board at all lately, but I managed to buy the preview issue of JL Adventures #3 (I was very sneaky! :D ) and had to come on to tell you I thought it was absolutely brilliant!

You really nailed the Timm designs, but I was VERY pleased to see some of your ADCU style sneak into the art as well. (As I have mentioned before, I am a fan of most interpretations of the animated-style). I even had my girlfriend look through my "How to Draw" books with me to show her your ADCU-era work, to compare it to the art in JL Adventures. She was also quite impressed. :)

After seeing your amazing job on JL Adventures #3 and then reading Superman Adventures #65, I can't help but wish that you'd been the one tapped to draw this last story instead! I've never cared much for Amancio's art, and this JL issue was just too much of a tease! Please say you'll be doing more animated-style work soon!

Hi Arachkid
Man, thanks for all the wonderful words! I really enjoyed this issue and I definately hope to do another one soon. These latest Timm designs are a real pleasure to draw and feel real comfortable for me, ofcourse it doesn't hurt to have such a fantastic Fabian Nicieza to hang it on. Also the inks and colors really rock on this issue if I do another one I definately want Randy Elliott and John Kalisz on board again as well. Amazing work from both guys!
Thanks2
John
