I will be attending Katsucon this weekend (with me hopefully posting my cosplay pictures next week).

For those people who are attending Katsucon, here's an idea of what I look like on both days:

Friday: I'll be wearing an anime convention t-shirt with a baseball cap filled with anime pins (which is my usual anime convention attire).
Saturday: I'll be spending all day cosplaying as Negi Springfield in his "Dash Cheese" attire from the Negima manga (just look for a person who is wearing a sweatshirt with a cheese design on it and, if security allows it, holding a large wooden staff).

If we got the answer now then there would be little reason to hold a panel about the announcement, just give it a few days. While it is a shame that I will not be able to attend Katsu this year, I do eagerly await to see what new developments come out of it. To me Katsu has always represented the beginning of the season for new major licenses, and I hope that stays true this year as well.

I'm going; will probably be wearing my black Gundam SEED shirt that I got from a booth last year.

I'll give Katsu this, they found an EXCELLENT location this year. I actually had occasion to be at the Omni Shoreham hotel arond a week ago and we're talking a high, HIGH quality hotel. Those that managed to find rooms will be pleased. Its also rather massive, meaning there should be no want of space this year for anything. I can tell you right now, this is a tenfold improvement over last year when it was spread out over two hotels.

Haven't been over the schedule that much, but sheer curiosity will likely compel me to be at the Funi panel.

Pani Poni Dash - No comment, since I've never seen this. Pani Poni Dash is what you get when you combined the school-based comedy of Azumanga Daioh, the "child teacher" concept of Negima, and the "crack levels" of Excel Saga. When it was airing in Japan, it was a very popular title on the 4chan board (as probably still is), and I know quite a few people on the Wonderland board who are Pani Poni Dash fans.

I'm going by what Lance said when I said it was too early for some of those shows. He said the title they would be announcing was liked by a lot of people, but it wasn't a blockbuster hit. When I show is that new, I don't think you can make that kind of statement about it, but I could be wrong.

This is the best day of my life, also 4Kids would never pick up a show of this caliber, it would be very unwatchable! Hopefully YTV will pick it up when Inuyasha ends, it would be nice to have a Shonen Jump shows dubbed by Viz hour to start off Bionix for once! Also, I just hope they keep * as the opening theme song, that would be good.

While it is logical that ShoPro/Viz Media would get Bleach, until I hear an offical announcement from the company I can only take statements like yours as hearsay. Considering how some titles have slipped through the cracks before, you can never be too certain with these things.

Works for me. And if that is indeed the case then it's a safe bet all future Shonen JUMP anime will be licensed by Viz. So they'll probably pull another Naruto and annouce it soon before CN's upfront or let it be like Bo-Bobo and let CN annouce it first.

And that particular case opens up a number of opportunities where Jump titles won't go to Viz, namely cases where a particular US studio has ties to a Japanese studio that gives that US studio first dibs on the Japanese studio's output (such as Funi/Gonzo, Geneon/Rondo Robe and so forth.)

Meanwhile, if the Viz/Bleach deal is authentic (and given Rahxepy's dad works for 4kids, and thus probably has some authentic dirt,) I wouldn't at all be surprised by it anyway.

Anyway, I'm not believing anything unless I see it officially announced by VIZ. But if it's true, that's awesome! It's not FUNi, but VIZ was my second preference for licensing Bleach, anyway. Wow, fairly obscure pick up out of Funimation. However, it's yet another different kind of show for Funimation, and I'm happy they are taking that tack on things. It'll serve them well in the long run because they'll not only prove beyond a question of a doubt being very capable regardless of subject matter, but it'll test and expand the skills of their directors and their VAs, and it'll strengthen their overall library, making them a healthier company in the long term.

You actually believe him? He is not an official source nor do we even have proof that his dad works for 4kids and nor would viz let somthing like that get leaked so easily. Eh, well not everyone likes every single title that a company licenses. When funi announced Negima, there were plenty of people who liked it but plenty who disliked it, so KimiNozo is just another one of those titles. No one title can make everyone happy I guess :sweat:

3 of the last 10 posts in this thread have been you expressing your dissatisfaction with this license announcement. Whenever a new license is announced there are going to be those that are happy and those that would have rather had something else announced. They can't always please everybody.

KimiNo is great and I'm really happy that it's going to be released. I'm not sure I like how Funi is doing the whole translated name thing for the shows. But it's not that big of a deal since I'll finally have it on DVD.

I'm glad FUNimation is running the gamet with what they pick up but I REALLY want another FUNimation shonen. Honestly I haven't been excited about a FUNimation annoucement since Fullmetal Alchemist and that was quite a while ago.

Though I am somewhat excited about the faster release schedule.

If Bleach is in Viz's hands along with Prince of Tennis, HnG, Naruto, Zatch Bell, MAR... see where I'm going with this? That's a rather large load. And Viz is pretty much going to dominate Toonami if they keep this up. They even have the video rights to One Piece and I'd bet they also have the video rights to Bo-Bobo or plan to get them (NEED BO-BOBO DVD's!!!).

Kiminozo is a good example of why abstinence is the way to go.
No matter who licensed it, I would never buy this show.
But at least the ones interested will get a great DVD release.

Well, I've been back from Katsucon for almost 12 hours now. I attended both Funi panels (just as I thought, Greg definitely pulled off the role Negi Springfield), and I did meet kaine23 at the convention (more specifically at a nearby McDonald's).

You got to see AMV Hell 3? Nice, saw it online on Google Video, I just like the recurring Osaka Beep sequences. A true expert in AMV's should know that the beeps are a tribute to a segment of #1 which was a parody of an Apple ad, Osaka lip-syncing the Ellen Fiess Apple ad (It was like beepbeepbee beep beep beep beep!). I just hoped you sang along with the Bohemian Rhapsody parody with Outlaw Star too!
