Matt Cappotelli announced in the ring at the Danny Davis Arena in Louisville that he had brain cancer in a long and highly emotional and religious speech.

The 26-year-old OVW champion gave the championship belt back to Danny Davis, saying that he can't do the title justice because he can't defend it. He said that his doctors told him, on a scale of one-to-four, four being the worst, that his cancer was a two. He said he was exploring his options but would be undergoing surgery, and likely chemotherapy. His doctors told him it was too soon to determine whether he would wrestle again. The building was in tears as Cappotelli, who stopped several times, got down and prayed in the ring, and said he would like to get in contact with anyone in pain and try and help them through it. All the wrestlers surrounded the ring as he gave his speech. All of the wrestlers got in the ring with him.

The show ended before 10 p.m. Eastern time, and Cappotelli stayed until past midnight talking to every fan who wanted to talk with him, exchanging addresses, numbers or e-mails, until he had talked with virtually every fan that attended the show.

The speech will air on the OVW TV show that airs on Saturday.

They did a regular television taping up until that point, which featured The Miz & Chris Cage winning the tag team titles from Seth Skyfire & Chet the Jet.

That's horrible. I feel really, really bad for Matt right now. He apparently had a nice future in the business ahead of him and every time he was about to get the call up, it seemed something happened to mess it up. Just very unlucky and heart breaking. Hopefully he's able to eventually come back from this, after all, Lyger was able to come back from a similar deal (cancerous brain tumor).

My thoughts are with Matt. He seems like a hard worker and I wish him the best with whatever happens.

I hope someone YouTubes that. That sounds like a truly emotional moment.

I hope Matt gets better and recovers.

I hope that he's able to beat the cancer he has right now. It's really sad to see him get it and I only hope there will be a spot on the WWE roster if he can defeat the cancer and return to the ring.

Very very emotional moment. The prayer was the most emotional part.

Words cannot portray how emotional that moment was. I was always a fan of his during TE3 and was always excited when he was to be called up to the main roster. When Matt beats this, the WWE better give him a good position, hopefully a spot on the roster if he's able to return to the ring.

I was really upset when I read/watched this. I really liked Matt during TE3 and he really toughed it out after Bob Holly beat on him. It was sad, yet inspiring to see a person still so strong in his outlook on life and his faith when he's faced with something like this.
