GOOD NEWS: Tekkaman is finally coming to DVD! :) TEKKAMAN (http://www.aaaanime.com/dvds.asp?view=item&code=AWDVD0629)
BAD NEWS: It'll be dub only!
No word on whether this is the 70's version or the 90's Tekkaman Blade. We'll expect some clarification soon.

No word on whether this is the 70's version or the 90's Tekkaman Blade. We'll expect some clarification soon. From reading the discription it appears to be the Saban dub of Tekkkaman Blade (Teknoman) that aired on UPN in 1995.

So what you're saying is we're getting Teknoman instead of Tekkaman. Ripoff.

Saban version?
Not only will people NOT buy this, I doubt every volume will get released because of Saban's shoddy home video release schedule!

Saban doesn't exist anymore.
...
After all this time, they release Teknoman, an incomplete dub? What hope do they have of selling one copy?
First of Media Blasters are releasing this.
Second maybe they couldnt get access to the Japanese language track etc.
Both versions will be released - Hopefully they will do a new uncut dub too.

The Saban dub wasn't bad... aside form Rabin being turned into a woman.

Nostalgia. There are quite a few people who may remember watching wthis when they were youngr, but are unaware it was ever edited or don't care.
The Saban dub wasn't bad...
I agree. There are all these people who will immediately talk down a title just because it was edited when in reality there are actually some titles are even better in their edited form than the original.
aside form Rabin being turned into a woman.
Any Tekkaman Blade fans who didn't expect this to happen were setting themselves up for disappointment. Our country is and always has been unfortunately very intolerant, especially back in 1995.

I'm assuming Rabin was gay?

I'm assuming Rabin was gay?
Yeah, he wore lipstick and looked feminine so they changed him into a woman named Maggie.

I've only seen a couple episodes, but I'm intrigued. I'll try to hold out for a subtitled and complete edition though.

I used to watch this show on BKN... Great anime and one of the best IMHO. Its a true sci-fi anime show with everything going for it and I am talking about Teknoman aka Tekkaman Blade. :)

I loved this show, and the fact that the old Saban dub will be out too is great as I can finally replace my aging tapes. :D
Most definately will be picking both sets up.

That sucks!! I don't care about some dub for this show, I want it in its original language!! Media Blasters, how can you do this to us fans? I've lost all respect for you.

There are two releases: an unedited remastered sub and the edited dub. The dub footage doesn't match up witht the original so they have to release the two seperately.

The "incomplete dub" comment--
Teknoman WAS completed...in Australia. Apparently they ran the same dub over there, but unlike in the U.S., they managed to finish off the series.
At any rate, I'm intrigued. It was a good show, very dark and grim even in dub form, and I always wanted to see the rest of it.

Sweet! I am definitely picking up the Japanese with English subtitles version! I've heard great things about the show and have always wanted to check it out.

There are times when I wondered about that, mainly because back in Teknoman's heyday in 95/96, I used to check UPN's website, and they listed every episode for the show. It's the first I heard about Teknoman Plus even before I found websites for the show. Again, it doesn't neccessarily mean they had all the episodes but sounds like they initially planned to air them all at one point.
However, what was disappointing for the Aussie dub was that Bob Bergan(Slade/Blade) wasn't in it as well as the voice for Ringo.

Now that's much better news. Glad things got clarified regarding this release.

Actually, the Australian/UK dub featured different names for many characters, different voice actors for Slade/Blade and Ringo, and featured different openings and closings, though both dubs however were finished (UPN just didn't renew for another season).

So the subbed version is going to be released the same day? Same price?

OH MY GOSH YES.
But Flint, SPC and Teknoman should all be on Jetix reguardless if they are released on DVD. Mon Colle joins the line-up this year apparently.

From the original news article:
Due to the editing of the English language version, it wasn't possible for Media Blasters to release a subbed and dubbed version with the same video, so they will be releasing an uncut, sub only Tekkaman Blade later in 2006.
So, basically, what Brent Long said did answer your question: "That remains to be seen".
