I found some comic info on Despero

This site has good info on Despero. I hope he's used as a main villain next season. It also appears that Despero is J'onn's mortal enemy.

I think that there are two different versions of Desperos: the one listed above, and another one whose fin runs vertically instead of horizontally.

He's J'onn's enemy? I thought that he had no Rogues Gallery until recently.

The article mentions the plot in which the wimpy psionic Despero turns into the Hulk-type Despero under the heading "Pyre" under the picture. The interesting (to me) thing about Despero is that after he Hulked-out, he still had formidable psionic powers (including matter re-arrangement). However, when he later returned during the Giffen JLI, he conveniently forgot all about his powers other than brute strength (well, Giffen has a history of not researching his characters).

Despero was never specifically a J'onn foe in the comics, though if you wanted to assign someone to be J'onn's enemy, Despero would work.

Well, if you read in JLI (early post Invasion!) it explains why they're enemies... Now I have to search for that ish... I have the most disorganized comic collection on Earth! :)
