View Full Version : JLU Season 3 Editing in USA (SEASON 3 SPOILERS)

With the new season 4 episodes airing in the US this Saturday evening, I have to wonder how much editing they're actually going to do, if any... We'd all like to imagine nothing will be removed, but considering CN's track record and American standards & practices, I have a feeling certain things will be taken out... Sure they didn't really show Devil Ray getting shot, but will they show it at all?... Or, a la ROTJ, will they change it entirely?... Then there's the whole blood issue (was there any shown so far? I don't quite remember but I think there was)... Ideas?...

I don't know where this is coming from. JLU has never been edited in the U.S., or, to my knowledge, in any other market. What we've seen this season is really no worse that what we've seen in the past.

I think you're worrying over nothing.

Not quite... Someone in another thread mentioned the reason why it got delayed in the US may be because of the content... And just because it never happened before doesn't mean it couldn't happen now... Granted, this season isn't too much different from the other, but there are a few things I imagine that have CN's undies in a bundle: i.e. the Devil Ray scene, Grodd getting it in the chest shortly after, the fight scenes in general being a bit more brutal, etc... Not saying its going to happen, but I've learned to never over-estimate the power of standards and practices...

The best thing to do is to not mention potential edits, you don't want to give the network any ideas about what folks may think is too much content. Just wait and see what airs.

I don't see why it would need edits reguardless. They could always slap a TV-PG on it if they want to.

You're probably right... It'd be a lot easier than going through the production costs involved in the editing process... Not to mention they moved it up to 10:30...

Well, if someone in another thread said it, then it must be true.

It was a suggestion... Hence the words "mentioned" and "may have been"...

I see no reason why they'd have to edit the show once it's already aired -- if it's airing in some markets then that's likely the way it was delivered to CN, ready to air.

Besides, Devil Ray died off-screen (even if having a character die on the show was a pretty big shocker).

Have a good day.

I don't think it was delayed because of edits. Hell, Justice League Unlimited is shown at 5:30 over here, and Devil Ray's death was fine (but then again, maybe the UK version was edited... dun dun dunnnnn).

No, the real reason that JLU was delayed in the US for so long was... uh...

I got nothin'.

I don't think Anything could be worse than seeing Brainiac rip out of Lex's body.

Indeed, I AM the one doing the editing... You found me out... Now I'm going to hack to bits a show I've loved from the start in a universe I've been watching repeatedly since the beginning... Especially that "Question" guy... His facelessness is much too freudian for my distinguished taste...

Whether they like it or not, CN is too damn lazy and apathetic to edit something. Perhap's that's why we get widescreen showings; they won't take the time and ten cents to crop the show. I guess that's a perk if it's the case.

Considering the countless times airings of Toonami shows have been edited after something too violent or language slipped through, CN isn't above editing. They've done it in the past.

Yes...that doesn't make any sense. They air it in widescreen because they're kind enough to appease the fans and producers that way.

In any case, the chances of CN editing anything in JLU is pretty much next to zero. These episodes are all put through the ringer before they hit the air. CN knows exactly what they're airing.

Really I have not heard anything worse about the content of these last JLU episodes then what we already saw in the Cadmus arc. And yes I had heard about the gun shot.

I have a question, did all of the episodes have been shown already? I noticed that World's Finest has reviews for all of them except one! :D
Does that mean they already aired in England/European countries? because they sure didn't air here.

Yes, they have already aired on Toonami UK. All except for the last episode.

Cartoon Network decided what is going to air before it actually plays, doesn't it? CN surely have the right to refuse certain things happening in the show. I know Kids WB! has a lot of control over thier shows, I'd imagine CN is the same.

There's been nothing in this season that really tops last seasons. People die in JL/JLU all the time.
