Im really upset that Chuck Dixon is leaving DC.

I know a lot of people are on the boards with a
Chuck Dixon sucks recently rant.

But man this guy was king for a long long time, we
Batman fans owe him a huge debt of gratitude for
some great stories.

Dont forget Chuck made a "Robin" series a reality
when no one thought it would work.

He made Nightwing a viable character in his own right.

"Birds of Prey " a quality series with no major heroes
attached and he made it commercially viable.

Not to mention some solid Batman stories.

Kudos to Chuck.
I hope this is only a break to recharge the
batteries.. the mans only problem was he spread himself to
thin and tapped into the well to often.

* * *

But my original point was - I want a Blue Beetle series !

And Chuck was laying the ground work for it.
(anyone notice all of Beetles appearances in Last Laugh -
Robin - Nightwing & Birds of Prey?)

The only thing better than making Blue Beetle a series would have been having him as part of the Batman Line.

He makes so much sense there .. ( and hasn't the foreshadowing
of Blue Beetle / Kord as a Wayne ally in Kingdom Come
wetted our appettites?)

Get rid of Azreal and give me a Blue Beetle title.

* * *

Now with Chuck Dixon leaving though .. Im wondering if anyone at DC will pick up the ball on this.

Any other Blue Beetle fans on the forum?

I have a complete run of the Blue Beetle comics from DC. The Charlton back issues are too spendy for me, tho, but I am a fan. If they bring back this series, it had dang well better be done RIGHT, back to the basics kind of Blue Beetle. None of that comedy crap they tried to pull in the Adventures in the DC Universe comics. I hated the Blue Beetle in that.

I agree Cal.

Beetle was a great character, and the beggining of his DC series was great.

I dont mind a character who has a great sense of humor and is funny. Thats worked well in the past for a number of characters .. i.e. Spiderman , Dick Grayson (Robin) .

The problem was when DC cancelled BB series in put him in the
Justice League they didnt make Beetle funny but rather the butt of jokes. They made him into a slapstick character for comic relief.

That was a shame.

I think BB has a lot of depth and would make a great supporting character in the Batman Family.

I hope DC wises up and uses him soon.

I love the Beetle, and one of the cool things about him is that he does have a sense of humor, along the same lines as Nightwing. I'd love to see a new Blue Beetle series, but with Chuck leaving I have no idea who should write it.

I've seen Blue Beetle mentioned in a few Oracle/Nighty sites...anyone mind giving me a brief background on him?

Ive unfortunately missed some issues of
"Birds of Prey" so my knowledge here is iffy.
(You wont here me admit that often .. )

But its implied in the issues that I have read that
Blue Beetle and Barbara Gorden have had a brief fling,
and that Beetle still has feelings for her - but since shes
actively involved with Dick Grayson they've remained
friends.

Also - I believe Babs is credited with bringing Beetle out of retirement.

Beetle battles a weight problem ... loves his twinkies apparently and has battled to keep his fighting weight.

Hes the George Foreman of Super Heroes.

I'd like to see the Blue Beetle make a [serious] return to comics, but I'd much rather see a return by the Question that's unrelated to the Batman titles.

Blue Beetle and the Question will be getting their own action figure from DCD later this year.
