I hope they restore Sebastian singing "Under the Sea" over the closing credits in the original version. That's the song that won the Oscar, not "Part of Your World."

This is the pessimist in me speaking, but Disney's going to find someway to mess this up, most likely be 'cleaning' up the movie, removing something, or worse yet, adding a new song.
I REALLY want this movie on DVD, but I want an untampered with product.

Not to worry. Given I have the DVD releases of Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King, and Pocahantas (where they inserted new animated sequences into the film), Disney did offer both the original and "enhanced" versions of the movie on the same disc. :)

The problem is, with "Beauty and the Beast" and "The Lion King" (I can't speak for "Pocahontas" because I don't own it), the "original" versions are basically the "new and improved" versions without the extra scenes. The opening sequences, for example, are different on both films from their original theatrical state, and "The Lion King" had a scene in the "I Just Can't Wait to be King" sequence reanimated. So, in my view, with the exception of "Aladdin" and "Snow White", Disney has done something to muck up each Platinum Edition they've put out.
For the most part,I feel that Disney should leave their films as they are(or at least make both versions available on the disc(except for Pocahontas,as I loved the song "If I Never Knew You",and was glad that they put that scene back in the film for the special edition)....
I do have the original DVD release of The Little Mermaid, though,I'll probably end up getting the new release anyway(seeing as it's one of my favorite movies)...
