Apparently there's a new Yu Gi Oh series, starring the original cast, currently airing in Ireland. Thought to be 12 episodes long, based on the game Capsule Monsters, with the game's name as the series subtitle.

So what are everyone's thoughts?
I doubt it's new. It's probably just an arc taken from the OG series, since Mokuba loved playing Capsule Monsters in the manga before the cards were introduced (and he was a LOT more evil back then too).

I dunno the visuals say "Duel Monsters" to me...so I don't think it's YGO:A shadow game...

Incorrect. The animation style is resemblant of the movie (Pyramid of Light) than series 1. And they don't play Capmon, they use monsters that they shoot our of their armband...things...

So if it's advertising "Capsule Monster" (I think)...does that mean Mattel is finally creating a real life version of Capsule Monster Chess? *Crosses fingers*

Well, they did make a real life version of Dunegon Dice Monsters, and it only appeared in the "Enter the Shadow Realm" season in like at least a 2-parter I beleive.

Seems weird to me that a new series is being made and 4kids seems to be hiding any infomation on it.

Rather.. "made".
And by the way, just for the record, anything, wrong with this picture?

As others have said, it seems to have an animation style similar to the movie, as opposed to the 1st series of Yu Gi Oh (Kaiba with green hair etc).
Perhaps it's a 4Kids produced add-on?

On that point, I definitely agree with you Hyper Shadow X. Perhaps they just wanted to test the waters in Ireland first, or something?

I doubt it. I'm guessing Ireland just decided to air it for oddball reason. This actually happened with Sonic X in Thailand. Episode 53 - 57 aired without warning, which most didn't notice it till it was mentioned, and screenshots were posted. So who knows.
Besides, if this was a "4Kids Add-on", I doubt they would go to the extreme and edit their own show.
Also, just for the record, Studio Gallop, who also did Duel Monsters (if I remember correctly), did the Yugioh The Movie. So it's possible it's the same animation studio for this. Also, it seems it may sitll be backed up by TV-Tokyo, so who knows.

You're probably thinking of Duke's battle in the Virtual World against the machine duelist of the Big 5, Nezbitt.
Although a four part story arc that consisted (primarily) of a DDM battle with Yugi and Duke did occur, but it was before "Enter the Shadow Realm". It took place between Legendary Heroes and the beginning of Battle City.
Although, if Capsule Monster is indeed advertising Capmon...then hopefully it'll last longer than DDM (which lasted about three expansion sets I think.)

Say, wasn't there a Yu-Gi-Oh anime made before the Yu-Gi-Oh we've all come to know and (most of us) love? (I found out about this one from an old anime magazine--wish I could remember the year.)
Could this be the one that's airing in Ireland?
That's the one I was talking about before. Apparently it's all-new, since Kaiba is his normal brown hair, instead of green hair like in the OG series.

That should lead you to some pictures of it. It's weird that of all places, it aired in Ireland first. Are those Dias that they're wearing or am I just seeing things?

Here the plot. found it at Rangerboard:
Little is known about Capsule Monsters so far, but it seems to be set before the end of the second Yu-Gi-Oh! anime series (Yu-Gi-Oh: Duel Monsters), due to the presence of the Pharoah Atem. It involves Yugi, Joey (Jonouchi), Téa (Anzu), Tristan (Honda), and Yugi's grandfather (Sugoroku) being pulled into a world where Duel Monsters are real. They find monster capsules that they can use to summon monsters. It's similar to the Virtual RPG arc in many respects, and a few have compared it to Pokemon. It doesn't seem to have anything to do with the early manga's Capsule Monster game.
So apparently sorf of a prequel.

So essentially it is just a Digi-Poke'mon copy cat now? Good god, this series just screams BAD. Why 4Kids, why?? Is GX truly doing that horrible that you had to mess up the original cast?

Nope, that's from the first series, this is a new one all in it's own.

In Japan it lasted 9, in the US, it only got 4. (or there may have been a very limited 5th edition)
And that plot sounds very similiar to the Capsul Monsters video game.

I've assuming that's a sic "solved the puzzle". Man, I'd really love to see the OS. The early volumes are awesome and I love the early artwork where it doesn't look like everyone's hair is made of cardboard.

The original series is yucky. Stay away from it.
Really though, it wasn't very good. Imagine taking the stories of the early manga, ripping the dark mood of them and dumbing down everything else. I've even heard that the manga author hated the series. (I stopped watching after the 5th episode)

I've seen the entire thing, and it's best if you stay away from it. The animation for the most part blew and was just ugly, and a lot of the original story was changed.

Now don't tell him that. Frankly, yes, the music was not that great, and while the animation was not top notch, it is still the early version of Yu-Gi-Oh!, which is great depending on what type of Yu-Gi-Oh! fan you are. Besides, if it weren't for that series, I doubt we would have gotten Duel Monsters made later on.

It's a twelve episode OVA that's being produced to promote the english Capsule Monsters. (although the term "OVA" is very loose, because it'll be on the air shortly after the first DVD comes out in America)

Okay, I understand it is a 12 episode series, but it would be nice to have some OFFICIAL info on it from someone. Like telling us WHY it was made. What exactly it is about. If it will be coming to Japan or not (if it doesn't, I'm not interested). When and where it takes place (obviously it must be before the memories since Yugi has the puzzle in the pics).
More than likely it'll be a longer adaptation of the CapMon manga arc, sans the DM and the poisoning and stuff.

The game will be drawn from the Season 5 12-episode story arc that will begin airing in the States in January 2006.
