I can see why www.comicboards.com banned these types of thread. What I read today in the DC VS Marvel was just ridiculous and dissapointing. Mad Hatter did the right thing closing it when he did. I was dissapointed in the behaviour in the thread and have half a mind to ban these types of threads from the sites. Alot of other message boards have done the same and I can see why - it turns posters into monsters! THis site has a reputation for mature posters and stimulating conversation. What I saw in that thread was nothing of the kind. I saw people attacking each other and resorting to name calling. That's not maturity- that's stupidity. I'm putting these "Versus" threads on probation. If another "Versus" thread winds up resorting to what the DC VS Marvel did, then those type sof threads will be banned and warnings will be issued to all involved. I'm sorry, but it unfortunatly has to be this way.

Odd, I frequent a forum all the time that centers around precisely these kind of threads. Nonetheless, the discussions are usually pretty reasonably, with minimal flaming. Of course, maybe its just because there are more "ground rules," so to speak.

By the way, the forum in question is Comic Book Rumbles, at www.comicbookresources.com

Sound decision, DG. The boards do have a reputation for intelligent conversation, and that needs to be maintained to keep the newbies flowing in.

Who would win in a fight, toonzone.net or comicbookresources.com?

Well, in that fight, Toonzone, since this whole site is good, as opposed to just one forum.

OTOH, Comic Book Rumbles beats this forum. Sorry, its just the truth. There are some really interesting people there.

First of all I apologize for being the one who actually started the DC vs. Marvel post. But more importantly I'd like to clarify that I didnt think I was starting anything like what actually happened. My question was actually "DC vs. Marvel: How would you do it" It was meant to be a creatively stimulating question that would allow posters to share ideas about how such a story could be done. Whether or not you had Batman or Wolverine or whoever win was not and should never have been an issue, the whole point was what you would make happen. There was no debate intented. It was an exchange of ideas. If what happened was what i intended I would have called it "DC vs. Marvel: Who would win?" And even if I DID call it that I would have thought that everybody would be mature enought to understand that that kind of a question is unanswerable and can only be discussed by an exchange of opinion. Its truly sad and pathetic when people get so riled up over stuff that is here for sheer entertainment. So once again I apologize to anyone who was angered by the way that turned out, I had no intention of such an uncivilized exchange occuring, but I would also like to note that myself and most of the other posters were handling themselves very maturly and doing exactly what I intended: coming up with interesting ideas for a DC vs. Marvel story.

Well skimmed through it and it didn't seam too bad. I've been to a few other boards where they yell and curse at each other far, far worse then that. I'm not saying that it shouldn't have been locked, because I'm glad it was! I'm just saying that it could have been worse and probably will get worse if this keeps up... Well I'm rabling now, so I'll shut up! :D

Am I the only one that ran over and read the vs thread after I say DG's post, to see what the fuss was about. I agree it was right to lock it.

I also apologize. My last post on the "DC vs. Marvel" thread was just a joke.

Hi.

I openly apologize for my actions in your thread, I never had any intentions for it to get closed down. But Im glad that it was.

I should have noticed beforehand what was going on, even after my first response, I should have realized this was the same guy who had a problem with my view on a similar subject. And dont get me wrong not everyone agrees, that's for sure, but twice now I've seem to strike a cord with the same person. Odd? Not really, but Im not here to remember who does'nt think like me, Im here to have good discussions, and share and read different p.o.v's.
Besides only a few People, (and I'll be perfectly blunt, there are 2 people who have been rude, and disrepectfull toward mere opinions, which I see almost as an attack),..this entire board is filled with respectful, and friendly people.

So atleast on my half, I'll avoid being dragged into arguments, so I wont compromise the integrity of this board.
