The 2D shooter is not dead, especially not when a heavyweight like Konami (http://www.1up.com/do/previewPage?cId=3147478&did=1#) still sees fit to grace us with various incarnations of its Gradius series every so often. Such is the case with the upcoming Gradius Collection, heading to PSP this spring. This compilation spans two decades' worth of Gradius action and includes Gradius, Gradius II, Gradius III, and Gradius IV. It also brings the debut appearance of the previously Japan-only Gradius Gaiden to North America, and it does it all on one UMD.
A strong set of features backup this Gradius fans' dream lineup. You'll be able to choose which way you want to orient your PSP for playing the game. You can use the full screen for a larger viewing area, but purists will be able to play in the original arcade perfect dimensions. Rounding out the collection is a full featured Gallery Mode. It contains a range of the historical media from movies to music (http://www.1up.com/do/previewPage?cId=3147478&did=1#) tracks from each iteration.

I might get this for Gaiden.

Not just Gaiden, it's the first time Gofer no Yabou has seen an actual release here outside of emulation (never knew what stygma KoA had against that particular game).

If I ever buy a PSP I will own this, no question. Reading about this awsome collection gets me a bit agitated at three things....

1. It is not for a home console. I honestly hate staring at handheld screens.
2. Reminds me all too well of Sony's rejection for the American Gradius Deluxe Pack back in the day. One day Gradius Deluxe Pack, Salamander Deluxe Pack, and Poy Poy 2 are all listed on Konami's web site for release.....next they are gone forever. Victims of Sony's approval process.
3. The fact that I bought a copy of Gradius Gaiden off of ebay. I was planning on buying a Japanese PSX to play it on too......fast forward a few years after buying a house and having a child....and that hasn't happened.

Konami seriously needs to get a version of Salamder 2 ported to a collection of some sorts too.

They're putting Harmony of Disonnance and Aria of Sorrow on one cart.

They're putting Harmony of Disonnance and Aria of Sorrow on one cart.
But it's only two games, not the entire series or a big portion of the series.

Yeah, I'd like to see a collection of all/most the original Castlevania titles up through Symphony of the Night. Preferably multiplatform.
