The 2D shooter is not dead, especially not when a heavyweight like Konami (http://www.1up.com/do/previewPage?cId=3147478&did=1#) still sees fit to grace us with various incarnations of its Gradius series every so often. Such is the case with the upcoming Gradius Collection, heading to PSP this spring. This compilation spans two decades' worth of Gradius action and includes Gradius, Gradius II, Gradius III, and Gradius IV. It also brings the debut appearance of the previously Japan-only Gradius Gaiden to North America, and it does it all on one UMD.
A strong set of features backup this Gradius fans' dream lineup. You'll be able to choose which way you want to orient your PSP for playing the game. You can use the full screen for a larger viewing area, but purists will be able to play in the original arcade perfect dimensions. Rounding out the collection is a full featured Gallery Mode. It contains a range of the historical media from movies to music (http://www.1up.com/do/previewPage?cId=3147478&did=1#) tracks from each iteration.
I might get this for Gaiden.
