Edit: Nevermind. It was reported by C21Media, who have been pretty accurate in regards to this information. Well, let's just hope Sony doesn't screw up the release of Blood + here...

Sony? Eeeuugh.

Well the good thing that'll come of this is it'll probably be dubbed by Animaze, Inc., which is where Sony sends a bunch of their dubs. I'd personally prefer it if they had Adelaide Productions dub it like they did with Astro Boy, but that's a long shot.

Boy that sucks. Hopefully it'll actually be released in it's entirety. This all but confirms Adult Swim getting it though.

Knowing Sony's past with this sorta thing, they can have the best anime in the world and make a total ass job out of it, see: Astroboy.

So I hold little hope.

Hopefully this gets a complete and uncut release. It'd be a first for Sony, but something they need to do if they are actually going to sell any discs for their anime in America.

I also second that this makes it that much more probable for TV. Especially since Sony and CN have done business before on this kind of stuff (Cyborg 009, Astroboy) and other stuff (Boondocks.)

Atleast Astroboy got a completed release...

Better than what Cyborg 009 got. Only one volume release, crappy timeslot on Cartoon Network, then got canned about 3 episodes til the ending.

No it isn't.

Astroboy's edited release is shameful given that two other Astroboy series got excellent releases.

Cyborg 009 started out in a good slot on CN and was there for half the series and eventually fizzled out... It at least got one uncut release. That's more than Astroboy got. I'm not arguing that Cyborg 009 wasn't shafted. It certainly was but I consider a show to be better off if it even got one uncut DVD when other shows don't even get that.

Let's not forget Astroboy was shafted as well. Both KWB and CN gave up on it and unlike Cyborg 009 they didn't even bother to give it a crappy slot to air more episodes in they just took it off the air period.

Honestly I've always like Cyborg 009 more than Astroboy 2K3 but I can see Astroboy had it worse. Cyborg 009 had some dignity left when it went off the air. Astroboy lost it's the moment it premiered on KWB at 8AM.

At least Cyborg 009 had, what, eight episodes released in Japanese with English subtitles? That's eight more than AstroBoy, thus making it far better treatment.

SIDE NOTE: Is the link not working for anybody else?

Atleast Astroboy got a completed release... if you meen by "Completed release" you meen "all but one episode, cut up with just slightly above par dubbing and with at least a huge chunk of picture missing" then yes, Astroboy is the most complete anime boxset ever.

Sony have a habit of messing anything up, and I can't seem them doing Blood any more decently.

Well this sucks.

Ditto.

I really was hoping Bandai/Manga or FUNi would get it, but Sony? Eww...

Here's my take on Sony's licensing of this show:

1 - Sony releases two bilingual volumes in the summer or fall
2 - Sony sits on the third volume for a whole year
3 - Sony releases the third volume next fall
4 - Sony ceases to distribute any more volumes due to "lack of interest"

I'm surprised that the show got picked up so quickly, it's only about 15 episodes in. I expected this one get snagged sometime in early '07. As with everyone else, I'm a little leary about Sony getting it, especially considering their spotty track record.

I don't even think they'll release that much. I say they release one bilingual volume, then after they release the second one is release a year and a half later and then cease distribution.

I still think they will at the least release the first two volumes since it is a brand new license for them. After that, I'm not so sure.
