View Full Version : Explain your title

Zubby

There's an old 'explain your signature' thread. I thought we could use one for our titles.

Mine:
Keeping with the Beast Boy theme, it's from a line in the Teen Titans episode 'Fear Itself".

The complete line:
Cyborg: There was a monster here, right?
Robin: But where did it go?
Starfire: And from where did it come?
Beast Boy: (freaking out a bit) Hel-lo? (holding up video) Isn't it obvious? The movie's curse! Watching it opened a portal to another dimension. The monster came through the portal, now it's gong to hunt us down and eat us! And I'm probably delicious!

If you need explination, watch Star Trek "Mirror, Mirror"...

A mirror universe is a Universe that is simlar to one universe, except everyone might have have polar personailites to those of the other one.

It all began when I downloaded an AMV that was a Mirror Universe version of the Evangelion opening. Basiacally, it was the Eva opening with more exxplosions and music from the Enterprise's Mirrior Universe episodes.

Since it was a very good idea, I thought the theme music from those episodes would be great if it went with the first Op for Gundam SEED. It actually works out. (Also, Invoke actually goes preety well with the Mirror Universe Enterprise opening).

Inspired by this, I changed my Title and Signture to show my love of the Mirror Universe Gundam SEED.

A quote from The Producers.
When the potential director for the worst play ever written is thinking about his possible Tony award win, he starts making strange sounds.
'What's wrong with him?"
'He's having a stroke."
"What?"
'Of GENIUS!'

Hence. I might have been paraphrasing there, but it's basically the quote.

"Watcher of the Skies" is the title of a very good but obscure Genesis song.

In fact, most if not all of my titles come from obscure Yes/Genesis/King Crimson/Radiohead/Pink Floyd/etc songs.

Edit: New title is a line from Yes's "Awaken".

Mine just comes from the fact that I've been a big Saturday morning cartoon fan since I was a little kid. I just really dug the whole cultural kid phenomenon that was "Saturday Morning" (yes, it needed to be capitalized here). However, with the state of Saturday mornings on the three major broadcast stations, I started having a tendency of going off on speeches about the subject in certain threads. Since I was sort of turning into an unofficial champion of the SatAM tradition, I decided to christen myself "The Saturday Morning Kid". That way it would warn people what subject I'm passionate about, plus it sounds like a cool old gunfighter name from the old west. I like the way it sounds, so I doubt I'll ever change it.

The Cthulhu Mythos is a mythology that was developed by vrious writers. The two most important writers were Derleth and Lovecraft. Of the two, Lovecraft was creator of the Mythos and perhaps the most well known. When writing theseries, Lovecraft invited other writers to elaborate on his writings, creating a shared universe.

The Cthulhu mythos is a Universe which is filled with Uberpowerful god-like Aliens, Unspeakable Horrors from Beyond, and other things THAT CAN NOT BE SPOKEN.

That is the real universe, not the one we see is our own ignorant little view of the world. This is perhaps a blessing. Those who learn the truth go insane. Those who meet those Unspeakable things sometimes have even worse fates.

But one day, when the Stars are right, the anicent, horrible Monsters will awake, and destroy this world. But until then, we are safe. Unless you happen upon those things.

Cthulhu, the namesake of the Mythos, and the most well known character, is one of these godlike Aliens. He looks like a green Octopuss headed man, has cults worshiping him, and is horrible to look at.

The sad thing is, he is only one of the weaker aliens of the mythos. There are thigns more powerful and horrible.

So being stuck in the Mythos isn't a really good thing, which is why my Avatar looks like she's loosing it. Which offten happend to the protagonists of such stories.

"Living out somebody's plan C"

Meant to express the idea that I've made such a dreary rut out of my life that it is equivalent to someone's plan for existence if they were too much of a failure even to adhere to life plan B, which itself is the inevitable resting place of so many medially talented or driven individuals after they realize that they couldn't actually amount to anything in their plan A.

Some prior titles...

"Lower'n a souther metaphor"

If not for length limitations, this would (http://forums.toonzone.net/editpost.php?do=editpost&p=2052000)have been, "lower than a quaint southern metaphor", a joke both on my regular baseless depression and inability to construct good metaphors. The rural south is so connected to odd metaphors about the locational relations of the speaker and something about or part of a crawdad or other animal of folksy myth that I thought it might make for a clever joke.

"Ommidan Creeney"

This was my title after my momentous return from a protracted voluntary exile. It's another jab at myself. Ommidan Creeney is Manx for 'wiseacre'.

Si, I'm Fernando

That's what Don Patch says during the roller coaster rap at that part and I can't help but think there's some sort of refference to Sonic (or some other character that looks like that) in the original version of that rap somewhere. Why else would he look like that?

as for the The Patchhog part, it's Don Patch and he looks like Sonic the Hedgehog in that scene. It makes perfect sense.

Provided, it'll only stick until I change my avatar and title again but I have no clue when that'll be.

You live in an idealic world. The politicans may be corrupt, but people are not. There is the hope. Besides, consider other views, and factors.

I think you misinterpereted me. I did not mean it to sound like I thought the people themselves were corrupt. What I meant was that a lot of the higher-up politicians LEADING the Democrats and Republicans are trying to polarize the nation.

On the topic of considering other beliefs, I always try. I like to think of myself as more open-minded than some of my relatives. Hence why I'm now more critical of Democrats as well as Republicans. I still hold a ton of democratic beliefs, but I'm trying to be more open-minded and accept that, really, two parties isn't enough for such a variety of beliefs. Really exagerrated example:

Two people are best friends. They agree on everything except for the issue of abortion, which is what caused them to chose different parties. One is a Republican and the other is a Democrat. One day one of them mentions their party affiliation and the other flips, saying that they are crazed rich fat cats/soulless liberal robots and many other insults. They get so upset at each other that they stop being friends and never speak to each other again. Although this is pretty over-the-top, many similar things have happened in real life.

So I guess you could say I'm less anti-establishment, more against the two-party system and using other peoples beliefs to get votes and do stuff the voters didn't want to happen. (I hope that's not too confusing.

So thar be my title. I might change it now to better-reflect my beliefs, so thanks Gatomon! ;)

Okay, this sounds silly -- but in one episode of Foster's Home.., Bloo thought it would be cool to have fleas, and he eventually shaved off Eduardo's fur (which it contained lots of fleas) and used it as a coat. Bloo did a few things that caused disasters, and the events effected the fleas' homes. The fleas were outraged, and began to fight back. Why "The Worst Ever"? Well, a flea newspaper labeled Bloo as the "Worst Host Ever", so that's where I got my title from. :p

It comes from a group of people I've known for quite a number of years from another forum (though the group of us barely go to said forum anymore).

Anyway, one of them was relating a story about how he was at an indy wrestling show a few years back and one of the wrestlers, Chad Collyer, kept trying to pump everybody up by going "It's time to get serious!". This failed so he proceeded to attempt it about three more times getting nothing but a dead crowd before giving up in frustration. So the person I know proceeded to heckle him with stuff like "Is this serious yet?!" throughout the match earning a few angry glances every so often. It eventually evolved into "It's time to get SERIOUS~!" and is one of our many running gags.

And hey, it kind of fits with Ice's "cold stare" so yeah.

My title refers to my name. I have had dozens and dozens of online alia since I started my journeys on the internet back in 1999. Probably the one I used most often was "Breakman", but I like to be unique, even to the point at which using a name that was only ever seen in a 1990-released NES video game (Mega Man 3) at one small point near the end of the game was not good enough for me. And it sounds kind of dorky.

When I joined Toonzone a couple weeks ago, I thought I'd use a name ike this--"JMorgan" is my first initial followed by my last name, really similar to those dorky email addresses old guys always use, like "jsmith@hotmail.com" and for some reason I think it fits this place well because it's such a large and popular forum that it'd take something that dorky to be truly unique, and if I ever become "known" even slightly in any way in the future then it'd be cool to be readily identifiable at a big place online like this.

AND NOW YOU KNOW... THE REST OF THE STORY

My current title best describes my current avatar, Harima from School Rumble. In that show, Harima is a delinquent student who falls for the show's main female character, Tenma, and attempts to change his ways in hopes of one day winning his heart.

A prothonotary is title for a sort of chief court clerk. It is used in Pennsylvania (my home commonwealth), Delaware, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, The Federal Court of Canada, New South Wales, and Victoria. I happen to like the title rather well and given the low likelyhood of my ever becoming learned in law means I am likewise unlikely to ever become a prothonotary, I decided to indulge in the title here.

Harry Truman once described it as the most impressive sounding political title in the United States. So Harry Truman thinks I'm cool.... FROM BEYOND THE GRAVE!

From Warhammer 40,000. In the future, there is only war.

Not only is mankind constantly fighting orks, chaos monsters, space elfs, all consuming gaint bugs, Ultilitarian greys and ancient Undead horrors but they also have to deal with rebels and hecterics. And they've been doing this for a good 10,000 years. The only nice guys in the whole galaxy are the aliens who shoot anything not working for the "Greater Good."

Okay, this one needs some explaining.

In Negima, Haruna, the girl who I'm currently used as my avatar, is a manga-ka who, outside of studies, Library Club activities, and helping Nodoka win Negi's heart, writes a mahou shoujo title for a manga magazine. Hence, if Negima actually existed in real life, I would love to see her as a guest at Otakon.

You may have been wondering what ganache is.
No?
Well, whatever.
It's time I came clean though.

To put it in layman's terms: ganache is the philosophers stone of chocolatey deliciousness.

By slight variation of it's temperature, the same batch of ganache can be a a sauce, an icing for a cake, the fudgey base for truffles, or a thousand other things.

And it's one of the simplest things to make.
1 cup heavy cream, 2 table spoons butter, 2 table spoons sugar, brought to a boil.
Take it off the stove and add 12 ounces chocolate chips. Let them melt then stir it up.

But the recipe can be varied a great deal with different chocolates and other ingredients and still turn out wonderful.
Of course you use some Ghirardelli double chocolate or some other quality coco and you're off to a good start.
