Yeah, this is a blatant rip-off of NewMaxFranklin's Simpson's Quote Quiz, which I'm a big fan of, but I'm doing it anyway. So the first questions is...
Name two classes of Starship with four warp nacelles.
The Guitar Slayer
01-01-2002, 09:19 PM
Do you mean 4 classes of ships with 2 nacelles?
Jedigreedo
01-01-2002, 09:22 PM
1. Constellation
2. Cheyanne
3. Prometheus
I know you said two, but I figured I'd list all the Starfleet quad-nacelles I knew of.
Evil Dr. Reef
01-01-2002, 09:25 PM
Yeah, that's it. Now, you think up a question, and post it here.
Jedigreedo
01-01-2002, 09:34 PM
That would be sir. :wakko:
Let's see... ok.
Two ships have carried the name U.S.S. Melbourne, what are the classes of these two ships?
Mr. Obsession
01-01-2002, 10:32 PM
One was an Excelsior class the other was a Nebula class.
Extra credit: Both were destroyed at the battle of Wolf 395, the only place the Nebula class version ever appeared.
What was Armin Shimerman's (aka Quark) first role in a Star Trek Series and who or what was he?
Batgirl_2005
01-01-2002, 11:59 PM
Quark was a Ferengi (spelling?) he ran the bar... er... restaurant(?) in the series DS9.
What was the name of the episode in which Wesley Crusher is granted the rank of acting ensign?
Karkull
01-02-2002, 01:45 AM
Actually, before Armin Shimerman was Quark he was a Ferengi soldier (?) in the ST:TNG episode The Last Outpost.
Uh...name five Star Trek actors who did voice work on animated shows.

Michael Dorn
Mirina Sirtis
Brent Spiner
Jonathon Frakes
Kate Mulgrew
...and they were all on Gargoyles...
Next Question (kinda easy): What actress was originally supposed to play Captain Kathryn Janeway?

Correct, in that episode he played a Ferengi named Letek (also the first Ferengi to speak in the episode), he also played a Ferengi named Bractor in Peak Performance and was the face in the Betazoid gift box in Haven. And later he became Quark.
What was the name of the episode in which Wesley Crusher is granted the rank of acting ensign?
Where No One Has Gone Before
What actress was originally supposed to play Captain Kathryn Janeway?
Genevive Bujold.
Ok, Janeway wasn’t the first female captain to appear in Star Trek. Who's the lucky lady who got this role?

Just thought I should mention you're right. You most likely already knew that by now tho. :D
The first female Captain ever seen... um... the only one I can think of the Captain of the U.S.S. Saratoga which was in Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home I don't know the actresses or the character's name but if it helps towards counting as a correct answer that U.S.S. Saratoga was a Miranda class original while Sisko's Saratoga from The Emissary was a Miranda class variant. Also I do believe the U.S.S. Saratoga in Star Trek IV was the first ship to encounter the ship that communicated with the whales.
How many different Starfleet phaser rifles and Starfleet phasers has the 1701-D/1701-E crew used?

You probably don't remember her name, and that's because her character was given no name. :D But she was played by actress Madge Sinclare. All I was looking for was that she was in Star Trek IV. The Sisko stuff gives you bonus points.
How many different Starfleet phaser rifles and Starfleet phasers has the 1701-D/1701-E crew used?
5 (i think):
1 type one design (compact hand held)
2 type two design (standard hand held)
2 type three design (phaser riffle)
So, if I'm right the next question would be:
How many years was Capt. Picard in command of the U.S.S. Stargazer?
And for easy Extra Credit:
How or why did he take command of the ship?
SilverKnight
01-02-2002, 01:07 PM
Sorry to interrupt, but I felt the need to say thank you. Since I can answer none of these questions, I no longer feel obligated to think of myself as a Star Trek geek. :D You have my ever-lasting gratitude. >waves< Bye. :)
(Edit: Oh, and didn't Picard take control of the ship nine years ago? So that would be, what? Eight years, right? >shrugs<)
Mr. Obsession
01-02-2002, 01:13 PM
No, nine years ago he was still in command of the Enterprise D. ;) And as a hint, he was in command of the Stargazer for more than 9 years.
One question, and it doesn't count towards the thread as my last question still stands. How many people are using some sort of reference guide?
*Sheepishly raises hand* :D

22 years (2333-2355). Impressive. (God bless the Okudas :D )
EDIT: He took the ship because the captain was killed.

All right. This will drive you non-detail oriented people nuts.
What were the symbols that the Enterprise people could have on the gold insignia on the chest of the uniform?
(Name at least three)
For example: one ep. had a woman from a starbase that had a flower on the gold insignia.
Do you know what I'm talking about?

I assume you're talking about the insignias (which later became Comm Badges in TNG on)
Actually All enterprise personell had the traditional arrowhead ppl are familier with. People from other star bases had diffrent symbols
I know that On the Insignias Command had a black arrow head in the gold, sciences had an atom inside, and engineering had some other symbol..sorta like a recycling symbol...

This was my guess too. If it isn't the little illustrations on the insignias, what is it?

No, no, no....he's got part of the answer in the post....it is the illustration on the insignia. I meant that one symbol that he named is wrong.

Command, An enogated Star (with three of the points resembling the arowhead)
Sciences, Two interwoven circles in an atomish design....
Engineering/Support, A soorta spirally thinggie

Actually, it's 8. 4 Phasers and 4 Phaser Rifles. They used the other phaser and phaser rifles in the movies. Correct me if I'm wrong though, I almost don't recall them using at least 1 phaser rifle. I'm need to check that... Btw, if it led you off any when I said 1701-D/1701-E crew, I meant for the series and the movies too.
About the TOS insignias:
The insignias the Command officers were allowed to wear on their shirt was probably the star in the insignia I think. No ship had the same shape of the insignia, Enterprise was the only one in Starfleet with arrowhead insignias and then Starfleet adapted that arrowhead as the main insiginia.
What is the only known Starfleet single-nacelle ship class?
Hint: it can be found in the Wolf 359 graveyard

Actually it's unknown what a Rigel class looks like, it didn't have a model made and the Tolstoy was only mentioned in Best of Both Worlds. The answer is a ship class that did actually have a model there.

LOL!
I always felt that Hortas being red was a side effect of being exposed to an oxygen atmosphere (thereby causeing the to either combust or rust) and that they'd be more "rock" like.
I dunno the ship...and am watching Army of Darkness, so thereby can't be bothered to look up the info =D

Bagh. You only asked about the D/E crew, those other variants only appeared in DS9 and Voyager, Not TNG or the TNG movies.

Depending on department each insignia was different, but command wore the ship insignia, which was different for each ship or station. And like you pointed out, later the Enterprise (NCC 1701 original) was adapted for the entire fleet.
As for the other series, they're all fair game (TNG's just the easiest for me). So ask away.
Umm, what's the current question?
Jedigreedo
01-03-2002, 02:52 AM
The current question is: What is the only known Starfleet ship with only one warp nacelle?
If you look closely in FC and INS, you can see them with the Voyager phaser. And the phaser rifles do change, I'm just not sure about 1 phaser rifle, but I wasn't talking about Voyager's almost-impossible-to-be-held-right compression rifle but there are 3 phaser rifles that were in the movies (I think it's 3, like I said I'm not sure about one, I can send you a pic if you wish.) and then the phaser rifle they used in DS9, did they not use that in TNG at some point?
Ok, if no one can figure out my question, here's the answer: Freedom class. It's nicknamed frying pan and is in the Star Trek Fact Files.
New question:
There is a starship class named the Yeager class, the question is, what two models were kit-bashed to make this model?
Extra credit: There is a ship named U.S.S. Yeager that is not Yeager class, what class is this ship?

Well, to answer your second question first, the U.S.S. Yeager is a Sabre-class ship, seen only as a computer effect in the dogfight with the Borg in the beginning of First Contact.
As for your second question... d@med if I know...

Correct.
Anyone else want to take a crack at the other part? I'll post it anyway. :D The two models used to build the entire ship is a Maquis Raider model without the front and the saucer and nacelles to an Intrepid class. Rather cool lookin' ship, but bad thoughts on design, IMO.
Here's a new question: The first two phasers of TNG were a small compact type 1 phaser and a very fat type 2 phaser, what are these phasers' nicknames?

Well I know one is Akira....but to my knowledge that wasn't in TNG. The Lucasarts designer who designed the Akira named the Akira class after the anime movie. Other than that, I dunno. Only ones from TNG I could think of is Soyuz and Lakota?

You are correct, sir. The Akira-class ship was named after the film. Care to take a guess at the other thing? I'll give you another hint or two: this RACE was also recently in Enterprise.
P.S. I said that these were BOTH in TNG. I was kinda wrong. The one that Jedigreedo didn't get is absolutely, for sure in TNG. But the Akira-class was seen only in First Contact. It's still the same cast of characters from TNG, but if you want to be technical, it wasn't in the series.

i'm gonna say...Spock. Besides Scotty, he's the only character from the Original series to be seen in anything besides the first 7 movies.

I think it's Spock, cause Scotty was in one episode of TNG, but Spock was in two I think. 'Course Scotty was in an extra movie that Spock wasn't...
Spock - TOS, 6 movies, 2 episodes of TNG (There anymore with him?)
Scotty - TOS, 7 movies, 1 episode of TNG
They're pretty much tied...

It can't be Worf, Michael Dorn was in Star Trek 6 as Kirk and McCoy's "lawyer" but it couldn't of been Worf because Worf didn't live on the Klingon homeworld and would've most likely of had to live there to become a "lawyer" figure type.

Wrong, he was going for screen time, and Worf on tng & ds9 had more screen time than any other character...(@least that's what I think he's going for....I still say Spock's right)

For the character question, I think the computer is right because the computer technically was under Picard and the computer is basically a character because the computer is listed in the credits. ;) Plus the computer has had the most screentime than anyone else by being in 4 out 5 series and if I'm not mistaken, all the movies. (Although some of the earlier ones might not have it, can't clearly remember)
For the Worf part, well it's not even the afternoon yet, can't remember everything. :D
As for the quote, I was mislead because the Excelsior quote I thought was "All I ask is a tall ship and a star to steer her by" because the quote you mentioned really suits Voyager. But Bird_Boy got it before me. Oh well. :)
I guess I'll post a question. In late-DS9 there was a ship that was renamed the Defiant, what was the original name of this ship?

No....that's the defient I believe...
Can't remember which ship was renamed, although it would have been funny if it had been the yorktown...since that was to be the original name of the Enterprise...

The Valiant. Next question:

Sorry Reef, the Valiant was the ship commanded by Red Squad, which were just cadets. The ship that was renamed the Defiant in late-DS9 was the U.S.S. Sao Paula in the last season.

You are correct, Mr. Obsession, and in response to your question:
It was Lela Dax, first woman to serve on the Trill council.
Next question is a two-parter:
In Voyager, what century did the Aeon come from, and what year did it crash-land in?

The Aeon came from the 29th c. and crashed in 1967.
Next:
Between the destruction of the Enterprise D's drive section and the crash landing of it's saucer section, how many crewmen died?
Bonus (two parts):
When was the Enterprise D originally proposed to be destroyed and why did they decide to wait until the movie Generations to do it?
Kal-el
01-20-2002, 03:26 PM
Mr. Obsession, does your question refer to the time when the drive section FIRST was destroyed to the time after the energy ribbon changed everything? I could say that everyone but Picard died (as he was taken into the ribbon). But, at the end, when everyone was picking up the pieces, I would have no idea.
Not sure about the bonus question.
Mr. Obsession
01-20-2002, 04:07 PM
My question has to do with the final time it was destroyed.
And if no one can answer my bonus question (that's why it's a bonus question in the first place, silly :p ) than I give the answer.

Both "The Child" & "Devil's Due" were written as ST2 episodes. And here's a fun Star Trek trivia fact!
The original pilot episode for "Star Trek: Phase Two", as it would've been called, was written and re-written so much, it eventually became the very first Star Trek movie. Which leads to my next question:
What was the pilot episode of "Phase Two" originally called?

i'm sorry, i don't what the answer is and considering this is the only star trek that is currently opened, i decided to ask the question here. and besides, my question is not a riddle; it is more like a "does anyone know the facts to this question" type of question. do you think would have been better or worse if Kirstie Alley was in it? the way ST VI played out, it was an awesome movie.

Fair point - this and last weeks ST thread have been merged so you have more to wax Trek over...
As for Kirstie Alley - I think she should have been back for ST VI. Kim was great, but it would have finished off the arc of one of the movies few new main characters. I prefer Cattrell to Robin Curtis though - in that regard, Kim was a good move..!

umm...thanx....but no thanx....
One was a thread for discussing the show, the other was a trivia contest...that's like going to the Justice League board and Merging Justice Leage ABCs with War World Part2 Talkback...both deal with JL, but in vastly diffrent ways...

Well, the standard rules for threads of this type is that if a question goes unanswered for more than 48 hours without any hint(s) and/or a new question being asked by the original asker, the new question is up for grabs. Well, screw 48 hours... this thread has been dead for more than a year! So now I'm going to go ahead and snag the next question and get the ball rolling again.
What is the only episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation in which the audience never sees the bridge of the Enterprise?

I'm afraid I can't answer Evil Dr. Reef's, but the answer to yours would be the episode Family - where most of the action followed Picard at home on Earth.

Close enough. I was actually looking for 'around 50,' but 57 is good enough. The number fluctuated a little on the show so that could very well be one of the numbers they gave.

Q: Name 3 members of the DS9 crew who the Founders took the form of

That would be Deadwood. I agree, it was a good episode, although by that point in the series the whole "people get trapped in the holodeck with the safety systems off" plot had been done many, many, MANY times before. However, it did give Brent Spiner a chance to do a lot of fun acting stuff, and that's always nice to see.
Let's see, next question... since I'm such a TNG nut, I think we'll do another TNG question.
In "Chain of Command Pt. II," what was the name of the Cardassian Gul who interrogated Picard, and what was the name of the actor who played him?
Mynd Hed
05-09-2003, 03:34 PM
Bump bump bump....
I can't really think of any way to give a hint that wouldn't give away the answer entirely, so how about this: the first person to respond with EITHER the name of the Gul OR the name of the actor who played him gets the next question. Easy enough for you? (-:
Stewie

The problem is not that I can't think of the answer, it's that I can't think of a new question.
