Howdy,

Image Comics in April 2006 (http://www.comicbookresources.com/news/newsitem.cgi?id=6448)

Snarky thoughts:

- Frank Cho Women HC. I'd make a joke about how all 112 pages have women that look like Brandy from Liberty Meadows with different hair colors, but he's been a little better about that lately and the cover image doesn't look like her, either. Not that I was gonna buy this. I'm sure it'll sell out just fine without my help.

- Rocketo #7. Man, it's pretty, but I don't know if I plan on sticking around for the monthly comic after the first story arc finishes. It might be a better read in bulk. Too bad there's a typo in the solicitation text, unless the Hidden Sea contains a tiny island called "." Which isn't necessarily something you can count out in this book.

- Loaded Bible: Jesus vs. Vampires One Shot: "RETAILER WARNING: MAY NOT BE SUITABLE FOR ALL AGES." Gee, ya think??! It's almost twisted enough for me to pre-order, but it stinks too much of "trying to cheese off people for shock value publicity" for me to give them what I think they want.

- Nice to see Brian Wood's The Tourist OGN coming out. This plus something else (maybe even as simple as the Local series coming from Oni) makes me wonder if there hasn't been some kind of falling out between Wood and AiT/PlanetLar. Anyway, I pre-ordered it before and I'm gonna do it again.

- Freak Show SC: I didn't want to spend $15 for a 52 page hardcover of this, but I can totally spend $6 for that same content in softcover. I'd pay that much for 42 pages of Bernie Wrightson artwork alone.

- Fell #7: It's a cool comic where each issue can stand alone all by its lonesome and it's $1.99. It's also probably selling way below any other title from DC or Marvel (except maybe Arana), which kills the argument that comics would succeed if companies just made comics that were easy to start reading and lowered cover prices. Regardless, this is cool and you should buy it too so we can prove them right.

- Retro Rocket #2: Yeee-hah, Retro Rocket! Go go go! I'm going to be really, really sad if this title sucks. But it can't. It has a big red robot in it with a pining, unrequited love for his mechanic, a blonde named Sparky Parks. It can't suck. Please don't suck.

- Walking Dead #30: The solicitation text does nothing to help retailers order this comic for anybody past the subscribers. At least it doesn't give away any heinous spoilers. Still, I'm a wait-for-the-trade on this title, and even that's clinging by its fingernails.

So, what are you going to get?

The only definite for me is Fell, for the reasons Ace stated above. It's a great book everyone should give a chance.

I might pick up Girls and The Walking Dead, but both are on my list of potential fat to cut from my list, so they may get the ax by the time these issues come out.
