I wuz wondering wut r some of ur reasons for liking Batman? some of my friendz know i'm a professed bats fan (via my sketchbook), but they always ask me why i like him more than Spider-Man or X-Men (btw, i like them too).
i always say becuz he has real ambitions and that all the villains he fights aren't really out to take over the world like some of X-Men's and don't dress up in fly costumes have freaky powers to show they're tough like some of Spidey's. Batman's villains are brought up w/ more psychological disorders, and reasons of revenge, tragedy, and obsessions like Joker, Clock king, Mr. Freeze & Two-Face.
wut r ur reasons?

I've always loved Batman for many reasons.
1) I was exposed to Batman the most at an early age. When I was a kid I watched the reruns of the 60s TV show while staying at my grandparents, and started to read some of the comics. I like all of the movies I saw, and when the Animated Series came on, I became obsessed with it. I just thought it was so cool.
2) Batman is unlike other superheroes. He is easily the darkest superhero, he is a vigilante with a vengeance, and that makes him cool. He opperates outside the law for the most part, doesn't speak often, and when he does, you listen. He just so mysterious and toataly awesome. His character is very interesting from a psychological aspect, leading to the biggest thing that makes him so cool- he's not a "super" human with "super" powers, which makes him more realistic. Sure, I doubt there will ever be a guy in a bat costume saving lives, working with the police, but he's just a man, a great man who has a mission in life, and it's really hard not to admire him.
Well, when I said many, I meant two. :)

He scares the crap outta people, but he doesn't kill. That's awesome. Also, he's dark, but regular people aren't afraid that he'll jump them in the middle of the night. They know he's out to do justice, and that gives them a sense of security.
Also, I love the fact that he almost has a split personality, and is still one of the best there is.
His villains are all insane. I love that.
He's failed. Heroes who win every time bore me to no end.
He hasn't come close to recovering from his parent's death, even though he won't admit it.
And, no, Batman is my favorite hero out there (Superman still rules), but he's one of the best.

More than anything I like him the most because he's a human with no superpowers like the rest of us.

my reasons for loving batman over all other superheros is because he's human, for one thing, which makes it easy to relate. but mainly because he's batman because hes really messed up inside, and is working it out with the cape and cowl. the same goes for his rogues gallery, they are all just as disturbed as him, yet they work it out through chaos and crime.
i love the animated bat universe over any other incarnation (although i love all the others too, except for shumaker's swarbage). but i think my reasons for loving batman can best be seen in the first 2 batman movies. the first one i'll quote (i'll try and make it as exact as i can remember), from the scene where vicki makes her way into the batcave via alfred:
Vicki Vale: You're not exactly normal, are you?
Bruce Wayne: It's not exactly a normal world, is it?
I think that kind of sentiment is really what makes me like batman, cause for those of us that see how messed up the world can be and who wouldnt be classified as "normal", and who feel there is something in the world that needs fixing cause some things just aint right or fair, then that's why we love batman, cause he's just like us, and weirdly enough, so are the villians.
batman returns is also a great example of why i love batman, for the same reasons listed above, but BR just really emphasises those aspects. i mean, it was so dark and all the characters were just so messed up emotionally and just didnt fit into the world in any "normal" way, except maybe shreck, but he was just as messed up as the rest. i think the scene where batman is trying to talk catwoman out of killing shreck is a great scene that shows these things clearly.
soooo, thats why i love batman. and i'm not saying you have to be disturbed to like batman, just that it helps...hehe, just joking, im really not too disturbed, i'm just one of those people who can relate to internal struggle and being upset with the way the world is and wanting to change it. peace.

I've always liked Batman more than other heros like Superman or Wonder Woman. The other two have superpowers and are as hard to kill as roaches (didja know they can live for up to a month without a head? :D ). He is as mortal as any of us, even with all the Batgear. One wrong step, and bye bye Bats. He knows it. The readers know it. That's what makes him edgy. You tend to get an attitude when you look death in eye a lot.
He is motivated by anger, yet he keeps it in check when dealing with opponents that us as readers would blow to bits if given the chance. Batman has a discipline that some other superheros don't. His villains: crazy. What intimidates them is that they think Batman is crazier than they are sometimes. And he is.
The thing that I've found that attracts people to Batman more than Superman is this: psychologically, we all are, at one point, Batman. We are angry at the world and the people in it. We've all been wronged...traumatized. Something close to us is taken and we won't stop til we feel it is replaced. Most of the time it is temporary and the spot is filled. But those other times, it is permanent. An obsession. And it is one that will never be fulfilled.
Like it or not, there is a dark side to every person's psyche. In Superman, our lovable big blue Boy Scout, it doesn't seem to be there. On the other hand, Batman wears it. We like our dark sides, our "cool" sides. We see ourselves more in Batman than other, lighter heros. And I, being more or less typical..... well, I think y'all know where I stand.

Well I like Batman for ALL those reasons above. But I still have to say it :)
He's human and that adds much more story potential for Batman. He has no superpowers so if he's trapped in a giant 30in thick steel box, he can just punch his way though it, he has to find a different way and its much more interesting. Batman's characteristics are deep, dark and rather scary at times. Batman can also be interpreted in many ways. Some see him as a great person who is doing justice to criminals. Others think he's a nut and there are people who could just care less about him. Superman is a boy scout, that's pretty much it, but with Batman, you can see him the way you want to. I love Batman's dark nature, it adds a great element of fear and power....and that just makes him awsome!

hehe, my friends have never asked me why I like Bats more than the other superheroes...but that didn't stop me from telling them anyway!
Most of the reasons for what is so great about him has already been said I think.
I like how he is just like a regular man. Not in the sense that every guy is very intelligent and a martial artist, athletic, etc., but that he didn't have super anything. He can't fly, doesn't have telepathy, can't run with super speed. That makes him a bit more personal. Because you think, hey, this guy is just a normal human being without any super powers. He's like me. He just seemed to me to be a more believeable hero because he didn't have powers of any kind. Not to say that I don't love the guys that do have super powers. Flash all the way baby! lol, and Supes and all those other guys and gals with super something.
