Who else is excited at the return of Reactor? Probably a stupid question I bet. So what anime are you looking most forward to? I can't wait to see Records of Lodoss War!!!! I have been waiting forever for Toonami to bring this over, so Reactor will have to do.

Just finished watching Episode 1 of "Record of Lodoss War" on the Toonami Reactor site. I enjoyed every minute of it! And they showed everything that I want to see when I'm watching an anime--from the opening theme song to the split-screen sequences (I just knew Samurai Jack isn't the only cartoon show to use this technique!) And I just loved the "Welcome to Lodoss Island" omake where all the characters look like cute little kids (super-deformed, I think it's called). Can't wait to see Episode 2!
BTW, I also sampled "Star Blazers 2." Loved the show, hated the opening theme song (it is soooooo schmucky-sounding!)
Has anyone else accessed it yet? What do you think of it?

I guess I'm finding this topic a little late...;)
I love Record of Lodoss War! I don't have to worry about watching it on Toonami's Reactor, though, since our Blockbuster has the whole series and I've already seen it. But what I wish they had put on there was the OAV instead of the TV series "Chronicles of the Heroic Knight." I hear the OAV is better than the TV series and Blockbuster doesn't have it. :(

The OVA is different. The TV show and the OVA have no real connection, as the TV show starts off by reintroducing characters in the OVA and has plot developments that are totally different. Most people consider the OVA to be a bit better, although the TV show is still good. The animation quality is better in the OVA, though, and the dubbing job is also better.
Still, I'm glad that Toonami fans are finally getting to see Record of Lodoss War, even if it's only on Reactor. I'm having trouble finding time to watch all the episodes, myself.....

Well I heard a rumor from a pretty reliable source that not only more episodes of Record of Lodoss War are coming up, but they also plan on airing Mobile Suit Gudam. Reactor is a great idea. Yeah, some people have problems, but I think its an awesome free service....I mean what other channel would do this for you?

I have only watched the first episode of Record of Lodoss Wars off of the reactor but I really did enjoy it. I will probably be watching more of the episodes soon because the stories was pretty interesting. I think it would be great if Record of Lodoss Wars (both the OAV and the TV series) appeared on Toonami. I mean I am glad I get to watch the episodes off of the reactor, but I know I would enjoy watching it much more on my TV sitting on my nice comfortable couch. :)

I watched the first three on reactor and I think it's okay. I would be a great show for Toonami. If they ever do show it on Toonami, then they HAVE to use that opening. If they can't do it, then AT LEAST use it on the first episode. It's my all-time favorite opening. ^^

I think Lodoss deserves a slot on Toonami, maybe if they get the 4:00-5:00 slot back they will have room. It is at least better than Batman Beyond =\.

If Record of Lodoss War: Chronicles of the Heroic Knight ever shows up on Toonami, and they DON'T show the original opening....
GRRRR....

Try this: go into your Real Player preferences and then click the "content" tab. Make sure "enable automatic links" is checked.
I think that's how I got it to work for me.

Okay... I have a horrible 56k modem, so bear with me, you DSL and Cable users. Does Reactor stream the video, or do you download the episodes? And...are the reactor shows edited or not?

They're steaming video. And no, you can't download them, unfortunately.
I can't tell if they're edited or not, since I haven't seen the original, and there isn't anything that was glaringly obvious. But they did say "damn" once, though...

Hmmm. It may be the same case with this as it was with Outlaw Star. The editors occasoinally let a "damn" or "hell" slip. But then again, the only ads I've seen for it were on Adult Swim...

Yeah, but Outlaw Star had a lot blatantly obvious edits, too. It was pretty easy to tell Outlaw Star had been edited even without see the original.
I don't know, though. Maybe there isn't even anything that NEEDS to be edited in the Lodoss War or Harlock Saga.

There's just about nothign in Lodoss Chronicles needing Edditing for TV...although any smart Network would clip off the Lodoss island bit's and burn them in effigy. Really, what I can tell tey didn't edit anyhting. The show was aimed at a different audience than the OAV in Japan. The OAV was meant for mature viewer's, the TV show is for children.(explaining the Super Deformed Lodoss ISland Crap.) It's still a very Violent show for Children's standard's, but it's increidbly tame compared to most of what has been on toonami.

I know what you guys mean about the opening. If Toonami ever did show COHK, then I would definitely want the opening left in. I even have "Kiseki no Umi" saved on my computer so I can listen to it whenever I want! :)
I don't think there would be much they'd have to edit, unless they don't like the words "crap", "freakin'", etc. which they use a lot in the super-deformed "Welcome to Lodoss War." The violence really isn't that bad so I think it would be a good addition to Toonami. I've actually wanted them to play it on there for a while now, and they better since they got my hopes up that there could be a possibility. ;) :p

After watching episode 6, I've come to the conclusion that it IS unedited, since they left in the "I want some milk, Mommy" gag during "Welcome to Lodoss Island."

Recently, my monitor was messed p and could only display 16 colors. That obviously meant that I couldn't watch Reactor. Just today I got it fixed and went to Reactor happy that I could finally watch the rest of Record of Lodoss War and begin Patlabor.
But I get there and GASP! there are no shows! The only things there are the Daft Punk and Toonami videos!
What happened? Was it a glitch and all I could see was that or did Toonami get rid of RoLW and Patlabor? Or were they moved and I just couldn't find them?

A few of us noticed this last week. The links just up and vanished with no advanced warning. Someone had an alternative way to get to the videos, but I don't remember what the links are off hand.

Toonami Reactor 2.0 was just like the original reactor. That it only lasted for about 3 months with TV shows, then Williams Street takes it all down.
But, if you are still itching on watching some Reactor shows, then here's a link that you should check out.

The alternate links work anymore, either. They're really gone.
They could at least stop advertising episodes on Reactor since they've been gone so long.

are on the horizon for the reactor, that's all it says. If you signed up for toonflash they'll tell you ahead of time, or just keep visiting the site.

I didnt get a chance to watch ALL of the various shows on Reactor,
I saw a couple of the Lodoss War (Criminey, I liked the OVA better)
as far as the other two (three?) shows that were on, were they any good?

I doubt Toonami Reactor will EVER have any more series. Adult Swim seems to have taken that, too.

Toonami Reactor will come back. In fact, it's coming back right now! The only difference is that it'll be renamed into Adult Swim Reactor, that's all. And then, after 3 months, AS Reactor will be taken down and renamed into Toonami Reactor and then it'll air for 3 months and it'll taken down and...
Do you guys understand what I'm trying to say here?

This is news from the news page:
Shonen Jump and AdultSwim.com team up for Adult Swim Reactor
With the upcoming release of the US version of Shonen Jump, a monthly magazine featuring the hottest manga from Yu Yu Hakusho to Yu-Gi-Oh, several sites have been reporting that Viz, the company responsible for bringing it to America, has developed somewhat of a partnership with Cartoon Network's AdultSwim.com. And now, at Comic Con, more details have been revealed.
Besides the ability to sample pages from the magazine on the website, Williams Street is launching a brand new streaming service called "Adult Swim Reactor."
Similar in vein to the other streaming service "Toonami Reactor," viewers will be able to stream episodes of anime from the magazine, including One Piece. The difference is, the anime will follow Adult Swim editting guidelines(if any at all), and Williams Street is considering experimenting with subtitles, rather than dub. The interface is reportedly much similar to the normal AS.com look as well, with the pool images intact.
There's no details on when this service will start, but with Williams Street's Adult Swim panel on Saturday, more may surface there.
As you can see, it's not only a name difference.

I don't understand them. "Adult Swim Reactor" just seems like a cheap steal from Toonami. Reactor seems to be a good, appropriate name for a Toonami streaming service. It just fits the Toonami feel. "Adult Swim Reactor" doesn't work. Adult Swim Reactor has just basically told me that Toonami is dead. Adult Swim is taking most of the good things off Toonami and put them on Adult Swim. Adult Swim Action is just Toonami without TOM, the name, and the ridiculous editing standards. That's not entirely a bad thing, but I really wish they came up with a more creative name that "Adult Swim Reactor".

[indent]Toonami reactor was never a permanent thing considering it was only around for 2 three month periods. It was always still an experimental project. Plus, this really isn't any indicator of Toonami being dead considering that the on-air and online aspects of Toonami are largely separate. It is what is on-air that by far counts the most.

Adult Swim Hot tub?
Adult Swim lap pool?
Adult Swim Underwater Theatre?
