Forgive me if this has already been posted. It has been confirmed that the next Gundam series to be dubbed will be Mobile Fighter G Gundam. The DVDs will have English and Japanese versions on them. It is unknown, but likely, if CN will show it
G Gundam is the first of the 3 Gundam alternate universes (G, Wing and X). It is set in FC 60. The majority of Earth's population has moved into space colonies. To decide who will rule the colonies, a tournement is held. Earth is the ring and the last Gundam standing is declared the winner and their country rules for the next 4 years. The main character is Domon Kasshu, Neo-Japan's fighter. He has 2 missions- win the Gundam fight and find the powerful nano-tech Devil Gundam, created by his father and stolen by his brother...

Street Fighter Gundam...kids'll love it, but I want my Zeta Gundam DVDs.
Actually, G-Gundam is a fun series if you try not to think of it as a realistic war series. It's just...bizarre. And very original.

True. Even though I won't get to see it till 2003, I can't wait. I've been reading up on this series and have all 10 of the 1/144 model kits on the way :D

That's it! I'm just going to get the Mobile Suit Gundam DVDs, rather then wait to see if CN will finish the series.
The next one will be Zeta.

It would be a good move for CN if they air this, but ones gotta wonder how they'll handle all the rather un P.C ethnic depictions. And the women's rights groups who might complain that Rain is Domma's female slave.

Personally I'd say the people at CN would be idiotic not to air G Gundam as soon as the dub is finished. If you consider the high ratings Wing received for it's entire first run (which topped DBZ, granted DBZ was in reruns at the time, but still...) and the popularity of all things Dragonball at the moment, well airing a show that's almost a 50/50 mix of the two is a no brainier. And of course CN and Bandai still have a good relationship. So I'd say we should expect G Gundam around June/July '02.
PC? Screw PC. I'm getting sick of it.

I think it's pretty much a given that the thing is goign to be on CN, but the question is how much will have to be cut. I mean Wing arrived relatively unscathed but this may be diffrent.

Ethnic stereotypes exist in many cartoons already, so G-Gundam won't be a unique case. But, if they edit it, so what? Most of the Toonami shows are edited some already.
Sailor Moon could be construed as sexist in many ways as well--G-Gundam isn't much worse in some cases.

Okay then maybe it's just the relationship of Domma and Rain then.

Women's Groups will have more to complain about if they watch Sailor Moon.

Sailor Moon is a Shojo, and the creator of the thing was a women herself. I think it just portrays the fantasy's of the average, young, teen girl (or someones idea of what that is, and since I'm not a guy this women's guess is better then mine.) However, I still don't see how you'd say womens groups would object to it.

It's shoujo, therefore it's not sexist? Uh-uh, doesn't work that way.
Personally, I think Sailor Moon is a very innocent little show that's a wee bit dated in terms of the attitude of females. I'm the only guy here who loves the show, but there are many things that stick in my mind, especially in the first season.
In the 1st season, Sailor Moon cannot do anything, ANYTHING by herself. Each and every episode Tuxedo Mask saves her life, to which she goes, "Oh save me, thank you Tuxedo Mask!" (winks at him). The 2nd season is worse--Darien/Mamoru acts like a jerk and breaks up with Serena/Usagi. There is a reason why he's doing this, but Usagi's reaction...just pathetic! She goes on her knees (choke) and begs him to forgive HER! (Easily the lowest point of the show). I felt embarrassed to know her at this point, that's how bad it was.
However, a change in direction (and staff) saved this season and the last half turned out to be some of the best Sailor Moon ever, with her becoming more independent but still retaining her sappy goodness. After this, the show produced its best season ever with the third.
Trust me, I've watched a lot of Sailor Moon, and I know my Sailor Moon. More than any guy should know. Just because it's created by a woman doesn't mean it's gonna be "go girl!" feminism all around.

Drat, forgot that one. Yet some fans will argue it's not an alternate universe
