View Full Version : Make your own Toonami blocks
I don't know how many people here are fans of Cartoon Network's Toonami programming block, but I sure am. Recently though, Toonami's quality has been on a decline after KWB's Toonami premiered. So, if you could, how would you program the KWB programming block, so that it would be worthy of the Toonami title? As for "Pokemon," I think it should remain on weekends and I guess replace one of the shows after the completed their runs.
Kids' WB!
3.0 PM - "Shadow Raiders/War Planets"
3.5 PM - "ReBoot"
4.0 PM - "Jackie Chan Adventures"
4.5 PM - "Superman: The Animated Series"
I'd also get rid of the KWB Toonami look and announcer and go with Cartoon Network's Toonami feel. I'd also go with the CN Toonami music videos and not the current KWB ones.
I don't really know what CN Toonami could get to make it better, however, I'd love for "Batman: The Animated Series" to return.

Well, okay! How about we use KWB for my 4 fave Toonami shows that aren't currently on CN:
3:30 - Sailor Moon (I ain't so crazy about it, but I don't have much to choose from)
3:30 - Thundercats
4:00 - Tenchi
4:30 - BTAS
Yeah, maybe KWB is too wussy to put Tenchi in there. But they wouldn't be if I was running it! :p

I picked some of the lighter Toonami shows that aired on Kids' WB! Some episodes of "Superman" are pretty heavy stuff, but since it aired there before and since "Smallville" is currently airing, it would only make sense. "War Planets" is a show that aired in syndication for a year a few years back, however, it's second season was never shown here in America, but in Canada. I heard the show was very good and I think it would be a nice fit for Kids' WB! or perhaps, Cartoon Network. I'd perfer "Batman: The Animated Series" air in primetime on Cartoon Network, but I doubt that will happen anytime soon.

Well, if it were up to me, it would be a longer block.
They would show:
Back to the Future: The Animated Series
The Real Ghostbusters
Extreme Ghostbusters
Batman: The Animated Series
The New Batman Adventures
Batman Beyond
I'm a HUGE fan of both Back to the Future and Ghostbusters.

I'd personally like for the weekday to remain with modern cartoons. But I JUST REALLY WISH that they had a weekend block of the classic action toons. :( Ghostbusters, GI Joe, Transformers, Jem.........OK maybe not that last one :D) But still...I just wish there was a weekend showcase for the classic action. That'd complement the daily MODERN action perfectly...

You know, they could really dump the last 5 episodes of Mobile Suit Gundam on the KWB toonami lineup for one week if they want to. Not that it's gonna happen, but some fans would LIKE to see them some day.

Well, I'd like to say that I'm a fan of Toonami. The one that airs on Cartoon Network, not the one that airs on KWB. It has a lot of potential, but unfortunately, it's just the weekday afternoon Kids' WB lineup with Toonami slapped on it.
If I was suddenly put in a position of power, this is how I'd change the KWB lineup to make it at least "feel" like Toonami rather than Kids' WB:
Kids' WB!
3.0 PM - "Sailor Moon"
3.5 PM - "ReBoot"
4.0 PM - "Jackie Chan Adventures"
4.5 PM - "Superhero Showcase" (which would spotlight the superhero shows from Warner Bros. Animation like Superman, Batman, Batman Beyond, and shows like X-Men: Evolution).
I agree with Vincent about getting rid of Jim Cummings and the bouncy "rave" music of KWB's Toonami. Give me the drum 'n bass of Joe Boyd Vigil anytime and the dark, calm voice of either Toonami's Peter Cullen or Kevin Conroy.
To make CN's Toonami better, I'd say return the third hour (from 5.0 to 8.0 EST every weekday), return Batman: The Animated Series to the lineup, and create a Friday-exclusive hour every week, which could be a short-run series or a brand new series at the 7.0 hour.
Of course that's me.
