So far, it's been a blast. The new combat engine is a big change from typical Wild Arms fare (along with the visual style and story), but in a good way. The music is top notch as usual, and the overall production is polished. This is looking to be what the series really needs to revitalize itself.

Just got it. Started playing.
Agree on all points. It`s like a breath of fresh air. I LURVE the new battle system. It`s really fun. Plus, the voices are pretty good. No annoying ones so far. Even Yulie, who I was worried would have an annoying voice, is fine.

Are you guys........ from the future? O___O
And how much do they get rid of the Wild West feel that I loved so much from the first installments?

Everyone still dresses in Western Clothing, only the state of the world is different.
It was just released yesterday, so he and I got it then. ^_^;;

Sou ka. Release date up there says March. Saw it at my local GameStop, so Christmas must've come early or something.

He got it wrong. It has always been January 11th.
Unlike Agetec, XSEED dosen`t take 18 months to localize a game.
This game got a major release for some reason. (I like Wild Arms and all, but it isn't really a "major release" title) Best Buy had a LOT of copies on display. (And they only do that for big name games like Pokemon XD)

I've never played a Wild Arms game before but the battle system and the platforming action in this installment are calling to me like sirens. In spite of the game getting medicore reviews I definitely think I'll be picking this up. I'm also surprised at the amount of pimpage this game has been getting and I hope Shadow Hearts : FTNW gets as much time in the spotlight.

Yeah, sorry about that. I just got used to typing in march for release dates as of late (Kingdom Hearts on the brain).

I really don't get the huge leap in review scores out there:
Places like RPG Fan herald it as a rebirth of the series, with great gameplay and a decent (if a little formulaic) story and cast, while IGN and some others downplay the good parts, and say "OMG it IZNT best game eva, there4 it is mediocre".
The reasons I've heard for why it's "mediocre" are complaints that are shallow at best.
So far, I would give it an 8-8.5/10, but mediocre it ain't.

For a good laugh, read the OPM review for a nice trip into fanboyism.
"Wild Arms shouldn`t exist! We have FF7!"
