anybody gonna pick this game when it comes out for the gamecube?

Is this the Gamecube game with 12 characters?
No, I think I'd rather wait for any of the sequals.
Well, it was released in 2003 in Japan, so whatever game that was is the one coming here.

IGN said it has 9 total. That's worse than the US version of One Piece: Grand Battle :p

Because the other two games likely have way too many spoilers, and it would take too long to re-work one of those games.

I'm pretty sure 2(which had 20 some characters) comes out later this year as well.
I'll be passing, I own 4 in Japanese which has 38 characters in it, so I feel no need to buy a 9 character game that is just the same one extremely watered down.

You don't have to rework them. Just release them. Back in the old days with tv shows, movies, or cartoons, people didn't give a damn about spoilers in these games when shipped here. Now they've got to edit them down just for the US audience just so they can catch up. That's not fair for the rest of us who are caught up or want the full gaming experience. I don't care if the US One Piece was stuck at Drum Island. That doesn't mean Enel should be excluded from the release.

In the old days, anime would cost 40 bucks for a dubbed VHS tape containing two episodes
and dubbed was if you were lucky, subs were more frequent and were poorly translated.
That was the old days of US imports of anime back before the internet, a 100+ episode series would cost you an arm and a leg
Also anime was more or less cut out of US games because they thought it wouldn't sell, I mean take a look at that edited Dragonball game for the NES or even River City Ransom.

I don't see why they didn't just use part 2, by the time the game comes out all those major characters are introduced.
Part 3 has a number of spoileriffic stuff in it Hokage, Tsunade, Armless Orochimaru Itachi etc

9 characters? That's pittyful for a Gamecube game. I'll probably just rent the first one or borrow it from a friend and buy the 2nd one.

From what I've seen, this game is going to be horrible. I mean, it looks like they used the exact same engine the Zatchbell game used (which was a horrible one button masher where every character has the exact same 3 hit combo and finisher flashy attack, with absolutely NO challenge or complexity) and slapped on Naruto characters. I understand that the same company made both, but you don't have to make it THAT cookie-cutter.
Nintendo Power had the nerve to claim that "it's simplicity is the secret to it's greatness", calling it "easy to pick up and play" as opposed to infantile and repetitive.
I totally understand the appeal of a franchise tie-in game (heck, I own the corresponding games to most of the anime I love, while admitting that most, if not all of them are pretty bad as games go), but as a huge fighting game fan, this just pisses me off on principal.

It's got more of a SSBM-ish controll scheme. It's not that it's super simplefied, it's jsut that it's not overly complicated.

And that is why the PS2 Naruto game is superior.

If it plays like Zatchbell, it is indeed "super simplified".
I've played that, and it is HORRIBLE.
The same exact move set for EVERY CHARACTER, with no visible advantages to playing a specific character, and not items or anything invironment wise to mix up the gameplay?
It's no longer debatable. It fails in every possible way a fighting game could.

I haven't played Zatch Bell's game, but the Naruto GC series is not like what you described. Each character has their own combos, special abilities, different types of supers, several have transformations with their own ups and downs, etcetera.
Not to mention characters like Kankurou and Shino that are really good in the hands of a great player, and crap in the hands of anyone else, as opposed to Gaara or Shikamaru who are good characters for new players to pickup and easily perform combos with.
I'd say its got a great fighting system.

That's all of them after the first one. In the anime, at that point all of the characters were essentially the same. (With the exception of the Sharinagan, Raikiri, Kyuubi powerup and Kage Bunshin) It kind of shows in the game. It just isn't as fun without all of the characters using their special powers to kill the others characters.

Yeah, I've heard the first sucked, I've only played 2 through 4, which are great fighting games.

We weren't talking about the other ones. The only one in question is Naruto Clash of Ninja, so it's not like anyone is attacking the other games (don't know anything about them).

Its a series of games. This game is Naruto Gekitou Ninja Taisen, which Gekitou Ninja Taisen 2, 3 and 4 are based off of. I haven't played the original, so I was merely saying that 2-4 are great fighting games.
I haven't played it, but #2 was huge in Otakon 2004.

A friend has an import of 2. We played a 4-way match (him, me, a friend who'd never heard of Naruto before and a COM player) and it was easily the most played game that day.

Well I finally got to play the 4th instalment today. Tayuya is very unbalanced and they need to set a definate range on her specials.

Yup. The first game is pretty much accurate through the end of the Zabuza Arc.

Indeed it dose.
This game dose have me interested, but I think I'll just wait untill number 2 or 3 for the extra characters that I care about.
