Of all the 'toons we've watched last year, what were your favorite action scenes?

Here are my favorites:

1) Samurai Jack, "Episode V": Jack sacrifices his biggest chance to date to return to his own time to save the scientists from being blown to bits by Aku's robotic ticks, mosquitoes, and waspbots (and their interlocking giant laser gun). From this episode on, I was hooked on the show.

2) SJ, "Premiere Movie (Episode III)." The battle preparations, an army of robotic beetles being sliced into sushi (along with parts of Jack's clothing) by a lone, bare-chested, sword-wielding warrior. It doesn't get any better than this.

3) SJ, "Episode VII." The opening scenes of Act I, with the robot Viking army thundering across the beautiful autumnal scenery, only to be destroyed within nanoseconds by the zinging arrows of the Three Blind Archers. :yakko: :wakko: :dot: :bosko:

I know! All those movies and TV shows that made did that "Matrix-180-degree-rotation-in-midair-flying-kick" bit---that move *never* gets old, overused, let me tell you, even if it *was* only sort of OK to begin with! (Sounds of Craig screaming in horror)

That's what I'm talkin' about!! Anyone who says that they hate "Matrix" parodies is a d**n liar.

Yeah! I say, more of them for 2002! Use that same 180-degree rotation move everywhere! "Friends"! "The CBS Evening News"! "Antique Roadshow"! The Soloflex infomercials! Just can't get enough of that same move being seen over and over and over and over and---- (gets hit on the head). OK, sorry.... I was being sarcastic. In actuality, wouldn't mind seeing the "Matrix" bit given a bit of a rest myself...

So Batman going "Matrix" on JL is going to turn you off of the show?

I have a hard time picking out best individual scenes, so I'll call this My Favorite Animation Experiences of 2001:

'Meet The Beat Alls' (I can count on one hand, the number of TV shows I've found funnier)

The 'Samurai Jack' premiere (esp. the first half hour- animation too good for words) (get it?)

'Monsters Inc.' (nobody does in-jokes [among other things] any better than Pixar)

Well, the only time I've seen the JL cartoon (lacking cable and all) was when visiting a friends' house out of town last week (around Christmas), and saw what apparently was the first episode (or the first half-hour of the premiere....). While I doubt seeing Batsy do it would put me off towards the show, I still think it's been used (and made fun of) to near the breaking point over the past year or so (having seen it parodied in a rather large # of places)....though of course, there'll assuredly be something in 2002 that'll get made fun of to take its place (much as the Matrix jokes replaced the "Titanic" jokes from 3-4 years ago)...

Not in the best order but here goes...

- Bugs Bunny nearly got axed by an alien counterfeit on "Invansion of the Bunny Snacthers" (part of the premiere shorts from this past year's June Bugs)

- Gene, Aisha and Suzuka vs. Ronald McDouggal's armed-to-the-teeth robotic panthers from "Between Life and Machine" from Outlaw Star

- Shiro and Aina vs. the Apsalas mobile armor from part 2 of "The Suddering Mountain" from Mobile Suit Gundam: The 08th MS Team

- Spike and Vicious pinning katana vs. 9mm at the climatic fight from the final episode of Cowboy Bebop "The Real Folk Blues, Part 2"

- Buttercup beating the teeth off every villian in Townsville, collecting the teeth, stuffed them in the bed, and greedily recieves silver dollars from the tooth fairy from the Powerpuff Girls episode "Moral Decay"
