View Full Version : Dance Dance Denial? Will it be back out for the Wii? Where's Mario Mix!?

Dance Dance Revolution: Mario Mix. It came out late last year. I figured this was going to get rare (DDR + Mario + GCN = Rare). I didn't have cash on me when I saw it at Target or Gamestop. I figure I'll wait; there's no chance I won't be able to find AT LEAST ONE copy in a month, when I get cash.
Gamestop's computers list it as discontinued. Target's not had one in for a while. It's going for around $100 on eBay.
... the game came out recently, and it's already increadibly freaking rare? Has anyone heard about this? Could it potentially be "discontinued" until Nintendo and Konami produce a second batch (kinda like how Guitar Hero was "reissued"), or is the game never going to see shelves again?

My friend works in a video game store and they have weekly representative visits from Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft. He asked the Nintendo rep about Mario DDR, and he said it was already discontinued. Good luck finding it.

Discontinued already? Well so much for sequels. :(
I got mine I believe the week it came out. Best Buy had a ton back then. 50 bucks for the disc and the pad.
I've seen used copies of the disc at GameStop in the past few months but I haven't noticed recently.
Well I guess I'll add DDR Mario Mix to my "rare" collection then.

Okay I poked around some forums and found this on the GameFaqs one.

They may be rereleasing it early this year and they may not. So keep a look out for it.

I had so many disgruntled parents come into Gamestop to buy Mario Mix before Christmas. One out of five questions was just about that game and of course, we sold out in November.:) My boss hopes it's back in production because he's sick of hearing people complain that it's not available.

Well I guess sales weren't a problem then. Nintendo and Konami may have just not made enough at the time expecting it to not sell as well and now they have to make another batch or something. I wonder if that'll make it a Players Choice.

I think they're done with Player's Choice, there are only a few good/decent cube games that did not get that status.
Paper Mario is still going for 50 new, there's only Batallion Wars, Star Fox:Assault, and Resident Evil 4 that don't have it

I think a Player's Choice edition would be rather odd; it'd either be disc only, or $30 with the mat... and Nintendo's not gonna Player's Choice a game this soon.

They're going to be adding Pikmin 2 and Metroid Prime 2 to Player's Choice soon. Why do you assume that they're "done" with it?
DDR Mario Mix wasn't really "discontinued"; there were problems in dancepad manufacturing. There should be more copies out there soon.

Problems? As in they couldn't get them all done in time or as in the pads out right now have problems?

I'm pretty sure it's just an issue with getting them out the door. I'm sure we'd have heard more about it if the pads themselves were messed up.

Knux, I talked to the Nintendo rep at our Gamestop, and she said it 'might' be making a second production run. Here's to hoping though.

It's because far too many people around here have made a hobby of pronouncing the time of death for the GCN.
I don't think Double Dash has hit Player's Choice yet either. I know it recently came down in price, but has it donned the yellow banner yet?

I'd assume so. Nintendo tends to drop prices on titles that are heading into PC status, but just plain discontinue ones that aren't.

Hm... look in the Circuit City flyer this week...Yeah, Nintendo has been planning a rerelease for a few months now. In fact, they sold me one direct from the new production line back around the end of March. I would have mentioned something if I had known about this thread; not sure if they're still selling it direct.

Looks like it has definately been reprinted.

Internets has it too.

I got Paper Mario a couple weeks ago for $20 brand new from EB...
StarFox has been discounted to $20 at Best Buy, though.
As for DDR, I had heard that there was a production problem. No clue if it's been fixed, though.
About Paper Mario, I did see it at Circuit City for only 20 bucks...
This was a couple of weeks ago for the record.

Yeah I saw that the other day(the original post you quoted is old)
I was considering picking it up, but I spent all my money on giant robots

Snagged this at Best Buy tonight. The Normal mode (which you presumably have to beat to get Hard mode) is pretty easy if you've played much DDR before, but the game is still a lot of fun regardless.

I'm slightly befuddled.
Money's relatively tight, so the least spent would be the best.
27 dollars for New Super Mario Bros. at Circuit City is cheaper than Target + Discount. That's blatant.
Should I grab DDRMM, assuming it's guaranteed to be there, for fifty at Circuit City, OR... see if it shows up at Target... OR... trade in two 360 games and get one of Gamestop's four copies (one of which is already on hold for Verminium, so essentially three) and get some cash?

I'd say it depends on whether you want to play those 360 games any more.

Oh, no, Condemned and Perfect Dark Zero are dead to me. It's just "should I chance getting it at Gamestop" or "if it's there at Circuit City, should I grab it?"

As a pretty big DDR fan, I have to say I don't particularly care for this title. It's nice they make it fun for beginners and add some Mario flavor to it, but the fact you have to unlock a hard mode is lame. The Xbox and PS2 titles let you customize if you want it to move faster (x2, x3, x5, etc.) So why aren't these included in the Gamecube versions? Simple, basic features!
On the plus side, I do like the boss battles, the "hot potato" fireball battles, and some of those extra features. Also I like most of the music in the title, although it doesn't feel like real DDR without some J-pop or music from people such as Captain Jack or 4Strings. If a new Wii title is made, I hope Nintendo/Konami keep things simple enough for beginners but challenging enough for your routine DDR players.

I have an Action Replay for my GC for such an occasion. I'll just unlock hardmode via cheating, although esentially, it shouldn't be considered cheating that I want to play a harder mode.

The problem I have with "Hard" mode is that it's not traditional DDR just a harder difficulty for Mush Mode. So I just beat the adventure mode on easy and then proceeded to play all the tracks at on normal, then hard and then very hard. I think I can do one song on Super Hard. Cleary I'm not the best at DDR but hey I'm better than my friend who is a Marine so that's something.

Wow, I hate DDR, but even I gotta get this. Mario is a classic, and you know, you can't beat classic games.

Got it.
If you're curious like me and Verminum were, the box shows off nothing stating it's a reissue (no Player's Choice, nor 2006 copyright).

As I've stated to Chad before, I heard rumors that there were some sort of Legal issues going on between Konami and Nintendo, but this re-release debunks it as far as I can tell.
On the same note, I got a chance to play Mario Mix today, and I'm very happy with the music choice, but unhappy that I have to play through Normal to access hard, then very hard, then super hard.
