Why did Paramount discontinue relations with the Fleischers in 1941 and start their own studio (Famous)? Was there some sort of squabble between the Fleischers and the head office, or was their contract just up?

According to Leslie Cabarga's book, Max sent a memo to Paramount, saying he wouldn't work with Dave anymore. Also, Paramount loaned the Fleischers money to build a new studio in Miami.

Paramount also may have feared that the Fleischers wanted in on the television revenue, so Paramount was looking for a way to get rid of them.
