View Full Version : "WWE New Year's Revolution" Prediction Thread
The Penguin
01-07-2006, 12:44 AM
And a new year begins with New Year's Revolution. The RAW PPV comes your way this Sunday.
New Year's Revolution has six scheduled matches, so everyone's total will be out of six. If you refuse to pick on principle, Kippy has no clue who you want, or you just plain miss it, you will get it wrong. For example, if you refuse to pick the Bra & Panties Gauntlet Match because you feel everyone wins, you will get it wrong. Okay? Okay.
WWE Championship - Elimination Chamber
Champion John Cena vs. Shawn Michaels vs. Kurt Angle vs. "The Masterpiece" Chris Masters vs. Carlito vs. World Tag Team Champion Kane
Intercontinental Championship
Champion Ric Flair vs. vs. Edge with Lita
World Tag Team Champion Big Show vs. Triple H
Gregory Helms vs. Jerry "The King" Lawler
Women's Championship
Champion Trish Stratus vs. Mickie James
Bra & Panties Gauntlet Match
Ashley vs. Victoria vs. Maria vs. Candice Michelle vs. Torrie Wilson
Please remember this thread encompasses anything to do with predictions. Should you feel the need to tally up your score, "challenge" people, or tell the story of the "match for the championship" that is going to fit in here, not the talkback thread for the event which will of course be posted Sunday.

WWE Championship - Elimination Chamber
Champion John Cena vs. Shawn Michaels vs. Kurt Angle vs. "The Masterpiece" Chris Masters vs. Carlito vs. World Tag Team Champion Kane
Winner: "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels
HBK won the Royal Rumble as the number one entry, and he will win the Elimination Chamber as the number one entry as well. Vince will either screw Cena, or Cena will turn heel.
Intercontinental Championship
Champion Ric Flair vs. vs. Edge with Lita
Winner: Ric Flair
When will Edge use his "Money in the Bank" Contract?
World Tag Team Champion Big Show vs. Triple H
Winner: Triple H
Triple H survives, but this feud will continue.
Gregory Helms vs. Jerry "The King" Lawler
Winner: Gregory Helms
I wish Helms could use the Vertebreaker to end this farce quickly. If I want to see Lawler bury young wrestlers, I would watch Memphis Wrestling.
Women's Championship
Champion Trish Stratus vs. Mickie James
Winner: Mickie James
This storyline was executed perfectly. Except for Trish as a confused and slightly homophobic champion, she is boring as a face.
Bra & Panties Gauntlet Match
Ashley vs. Victoria vs. Maria vs. Candice Michelle vs. Torrie Wilson
Winner: Victoria
The other divas will fall victim to the Widow's Peak.
Finally, someone will call the event "New Year's Resolution." Everyone makes mistakes, but the wrestlers should not make the same ones almost every week.

WWE Championship - Elimination Chamber
Champion John Cena vs. Shawn Michaels vs. Kurt Angle vs. "The Masterpiece" Chris Masters vs. Carlito vs. World Tag Team Champion KaneWinner:Cena
Pulls off another "miracle" and wins the match, solidfying himself as one of the biggest heels in WWE for the next few months.
Intercontinental Championship
Champion Ric Flair vs. vs. Edge with LitaWinner: Edge
Because What the hell has Flair even done since winning the IC title since winning it besides going to jail?
World Tag Team Champion Big Show vs. Triple HWinner: Triple H
Overcomes Show's "handicap" in another Triple H bloodbath of a match.
Gregory Helms vs. Jerry "The King" LawlerWinner: Lawler
He should job to Helms, but being a fan-favorite, that won't happen.
Women's Championship
Champion Trish Stratus vs. Mickie JamesWinner: Trish
Second champion to make a heel turn, because she's just freaking boring as a face.
Bra & Panties Gauntlet Match
Ashley vs. Victoria vs. Maria vs. Candice Michelle vs. Torrie WilsonWinner: Victoria
Returns an ounce of the credibility she lost when she had to go against Carlito. Torrie Wilson will be gone to to that little ***** husband of her's, Billy Kidman, so Victoria will now be clear to set up a path to Wrestlemania to get back the Women's Title.

WWE Championship - Elimination Chamber
Champion John Cena vs. Shawn Michaels vs. Kurt Angle vs. "The Masterpiece" Chris Masters vs. Carlito vs. World Tag Team Champion Kane
I've picked against Cena every PPV since SummerSlam. I'm not doing it again. Cena wins this one.
Intercontinental Championship
Champion Ric Flair vs. vs. Edge with Lita
Much like HHH, I don't see Edge "lowering" himself to the IC title. But I don't see him losing the match with his MITB title shot deadline only three months away either. Edge wins, probably after Flair snaps and gets himself DQ'ed.
World Tag Team Champion Big Show vs. Triple H
HHH wins, and moves on to weasel his way into the WrestleMania main event.
Gregory Helms vs. Jerry "The King" Lawler
Helms has to win, right? A one-night Raw throwaway is one thing, but there's no reason for an announcer to go over on a PPV.
Women's Championship
Champion Trish Stratus vs. Mickie James
Mickie wins, women's title is still irrelavant.
Bra & Panties Gauntlet Match
Ashley vs. Victoria vs. Maria vs. Candice Michelle vs. Torrie Wilson
Candice wins, they seem to like her these days.

1. Of course, CENA will win. I expect the crowd to boo him again, and perhaps and this is a longshot at best, Cena could soon align himself with Mr. mcMahon. But they'll put Cena/HHH at Mania and the crowd will cheer HHH and it'll be a master disaster.
2. Might as well give it to EDGE. Flair has done zip with the belt. At least with Edge winning, there might be new contenders. Like Shelton Benjamin.
3. Of course, TRIPLE H wins. Nothing more will surprise me.
4. THE KING wins. King is right in a way, Helm's new gimmick sucks. But I blame Creative for that, as they've done nothing to help him.
5. MICKIE will win. They really don't treat the title as much these days, so sadly they'll cheapen it with T&A matches. Plus Trish will turn heel, as she is better as a heel.
6. CANDICE MICHELLE will win. She's going to get the big big push very soon. Trish will get jealous of Candice getting the face time, and the big Playboy shoot, much like last year with Christy Hemme. I miss Christy Hemme.

Winner: John Cena- I REALLY don't want this guy to win, but I figure he'll have to feud with Triple H before he loses the title.
Intercontinental Championship
Champion Ric Flair vs. Edge with Lita
Winner: Ric Flair- I just don't see Edge winning the Intercontinental Title.
World Tag Team Champion Big Show vs. Triple H
Winner: Triple H- He needs a push before he goes for the title.
Gregory Helms vs. Jerry "The King" Lawler
Winner: Jerry "The King" Lawler- Helms deserves the win, but it's rare to see a legend job these days.
Women's Championship
Champion Trish Stratus vs. Mickie James
Winner: Mickie James- Hopefully, she'll turn heel and Trish will lose the title after holding it for a year.
Bra & Panties Gauntlet Match
Ashley vs. Victoria vs. Maria vs. Candice Michelle vs. Torrie Wilson
Ashely- They don't have much at all to do with her, and WWE has to give her a push if she doesn't want to end up like Christy.

Cena I've picked against the man who earned a doctorate in Thuganomics without graduating from the School of Hard Knocks and it's never worked out. I suspect he will continue to win despite the hatin'.
Intercontinental Championship
Champion Ric Flair vs. vs. Edge with Lita
Edge This one is the toughest call for me. With a title shot to be used soon (if ever) Edge needs to move up. Whether or not that means Intercontinental Champion could go either way. Does he move up by winning the belt or go down because it's the "lesser" title?
World Tag Team Champion Big Show vs. Triple H
Triple H Not a good night for the Tag Champions indeed. The Game will probably take the belt off Cena at this point to "save" RAW from a despised face Champion.
Gregory Helms vs. Jerry "The King" Lawler
Helms If the King wins why even bother with this match. I certainly hope they didn't put Helms on the PPV just to bury him.
Women's Championship
Champion Trish Stratus vs. Mickie James
Mickie A win for the "is she or isn't she" Mickie James seems to be the next logicial progression in this story (which means I'm probably wrong, but I'll still try it).
Bra & Panties Gauntlet Match
Ashley vs. Victoria vs. Maria vs. Candice Michelle vs. Torrie Wilson
Candice Anyone can win a bra & panties match and the whole Candice gets a push as Playboy nears make sense.

Edge rescues the IC belt from Ric Flair, which is fine by me. But doesn't he have a World Title Shot in the Bank? Whoa, watch out. WWE and continuity. Silly Djm.
HHH is due for a win before he takes the title from Cena at 'Mania. I pick him going over Big Show. Are he and Kane still Tag Champs?
Lawler goes over Helms, crowd pops, I puke. And no Shining Wizard to boot.
I'd like to see Mickie beat Trish, so I'll pick Mickie.
And I predict that the Bra and Panties match will be the main reason I'm glad I'm not buying this PPV.

Cena - Young MCena will retain... AGAIN
Helms - If they're trying to built up Helms as a credible heel, then he won't be doing the J-O-B
Edge - A win against someone like Flair will help solidify Edge for his upcoming WWE title shot
Stratus - Mickie will probably get the title at 'Mania
Ashley - Methinks the fans will be the winners ;)
Triple H - Helps groom Triple H for his eventual title shot against the winner of the Elimination Chamber

Intercontinental Championship
Champion Ric Flair vs. vs. Edge with Lita (I give the edge to EDGE here. Sounds gay, well, the leadup has been quite gay too.)
World Tag Team Champion Big Show vs. Triple H (Anytime you see a face go into a match with a cast, the heel will win. This is no exception, as Trips will win. Again.)
Gregory Helms vs. Jerry "The King" Lawler (The one "Get-Over King" match a year. THey are gonna try to push Helms by putting him over, so I pick Helms here.)
Women's Championship
Champion Trish Stratus vs. Mickie James (I say Trish here, just because the Women's Championship is about as worthless as the Cruiserweight Championship on SD!)
Bra & Panties Gauntlet Match

Oh hoorah. A crappy brand PPV that was added last year! A great way to start off the year WWE! Meh. Who knows. It might actually be good. For now, it will be the best and worst WWE PPV of the year.
Cena - Then he shall turn heel and make small children everywhere cry
Flair - Isn't Edge injured? Why does he get injured every 2 months?
HHH - Go HHH! GO! WIN! PLEASE!
Helms - He hasn't been on TV for what? The last 2 months and he's suddenly on a PPV? Someone on Creative needs to be slapped like crazy.
Mickie - I've found her character annoying since day 1 but I hope she wins.
Maria - Because's she funny.
And lol. I was simming the Elimination Chamber in SDvR06 and Carlito won. Be happy that I didn't unlock the WWE title.

WWE Championship - Elimination Chamber
Champion John Cena vs. Shawn Michaels vs. Kurt Angle vs. "The Masterpiece" Chris Masters vs. Carlito vs. World Tag Team Champion Kane
WINNER: JOHN CENA. I'm very interested to see what, if anything, WWE is going to do with Cena. Right now he's both the top face and the top heel. He'll retain the WWE Championship tonight, but he may not be so lucky at the Royal Rumble.
Intercontinental Championship
Champion Ric Flair vs. vs. Edge with Lita
WINNER: EDGE. I don't think Edge needs to be Intercontinental Champion again, but they have to start pushing him hard. They don't have a whole lot of time left to develop a storyline for his Money in the Bank title shot.
World Tag Team Champion Big Show vs. Triple H
WINNER: TRIPLE H. Triple H will probably be returning to the main event soon while Big Show can go back to defending the World Tag Team Championship with Kane. The Game should pick up the victory tonight.
Gregory Helms vs. Jerry "The King" Lawler
WINNER: GREGORY HELMS. I don't think they have any immediate plans for Helms, but there's absolutely no reason for The King to win this match.
Women's Championship
Champion Trish Stratus vs. Mickie James
WINNER: MICKIE JAMES. I'm fairly certain Mickie will become Women's Champion tonight. The only question is when they're going to have her or Trish turn heel so they can have a rematch at the Royal Rumble.
Bra & Panties Gauntlet Match
Ashley vs. Victoria vs. Maria vs. Candice Michelle vs. Torrie Wilson
WINNER: CANDICE MICHELLE. Candice may be one of the most useless members of the RAW roster, but she's due for the big Playboy push, so she'll win this pointless match.
Tapout

WINNER: JOHN CENA. I'm very interested to see what, if anything, WWE is going to do with Cena. Right now he's both the top face and the top heel. He'll retain the WWE Championship tonight, but he may not be so lucky at the Royal Rumble.Don't mistake heel heat with "X-Pac heat." That's what Cena has and there's a big difference. :p
WWE Championship - Elimination Chamber
Champion John Cena vs. Shawn Michaels vs. Kurt Angle vs. "The Masterpiece" Chris Masters vs. Carlito vs. World Tag Team Champion Kane
This is actually tough. I originally thought it was a lock that John Cena would retain...but his heel heat is making it seem harder to believe.
Even though it isn't, this seems like Angle/Cena in disguise since they are still sort of feuding. BUT Angle beat Cena on RAW last Monday, therefore, probably not.
Carlito and Chris Masters....if either win, I'm leaving WWE forever. Easy as that.
Kane has also been really pushed, but I think it's just trying to disguise the real winner with his push as a monster. Plus, he's already got a belt.
Shawn Michaels is actually the one that's the toss-up for me.. It could really tick off Vince, and have Cena turn heel and join with McMahon, to spark up a Cena/HBK feud.
BUT...I feel HHH wants the title, and most of all, John Cena. Therefore, John Cena is my pick.
Intercontinental Championship
Champion Ric Flair vs. vs. Edge with Lita
Yet another hard one. Edge needs to go for the World Title soon. I think he'll go after Batista and move to Smackdown, and fight him at Wrestlemania. Therefore, I'll keep the Intercontinental Title on Ric Flair. But in some way to keep Edge looking strong.
World Tag Team Champion Big Show vs. Triple H
Big Show's cast being defeated will make HHH look strong. So Triple H.
Gregory Helms vs. Jerry "The King" Lawler
Why should King win this match? Make the 'rookie character' look good, and give him a push. Gregory Helms will defeat the King.
Women's Championship
Champion Trish Stratus vs. Mickie James
Everybody thinks Trish will turn heel, so let's fool the fans. Mickie James will defeat Trish after turning on her.
Bra & Panties Gauntlet Match
Ashley vs. Victoria vs. Maria vs. Candice Michelle vs. Torrie Wilson
I originally thought Maria, but with the Playboy hitting the stands like in a month or two, let's give Candice Michelle a win.

Yipes! I almost forgot about making picks this time. I'm going way out there again, so I'll either win big or crash hard.
WWE Championship - Elimination Chamber
Champion John Cena vs. Shawn Michaels vs. Kurt Angle vs. "The Masterpiece" Chris Masters vs. Carlito vs. World Tag Team Champion Kane
Tough one to call. I have no idea where all this Mr. McMahon crap is going, so that's a factor. Also is the factor that Cena is being booed out of every arena they wrestle at. What's WWE to do? I think they're going to try and swerve us here, and the belt is changing hands. I think either Cena will align with McMahon after a loss, or HBK is aligning with McMahon for a win. They can't really keep the belt on this wannabe Marky Mark loser any longer, can they? Winner: SHAWN MICHAELS
Intercontinental Championship
Champion Ric Flair vs. vs. Edge with Lita
Not sure on this one either. Edge still has his Money In The Bank title shot to call in, and I hope they do somehing with that soon. I think he's kinda above the IC belt anyway, and Flair is going to drop it it will be to somebody lower on the card who can use it more. I think Flair leaves with the belt tonight, but I'm not 100% if he'll win the match or not. Winner: RIC FLAIR
World Tag Team Champion Big Show vs. Triple H
Not much to say about this one. Big Show is here just to fill time until Triple H takes the WWE Championship, and I think Hunter goes over strong here. The only way I see him losing is by DQ. WINNER: TRIPLE H
Gregory Helms vs. Jerry "The King" Lawler
Kind of a last minute booking thing. I have to question why Lawler gets a PPV match when there are people on the roster who are over and deserve a good showcase match (like, maybe, Chavo?!?!). Hopefully Helms goes over here and Jerry stays out of the ring for awhile afterwards. WINNER: GREGORY HELMS
Women's Championship
Champion Trish Stratus vs. Mickie James
Nice :p Both of these girls can really go, and I'm actually looking forward to this one. You know the storyline isn't over no matter who wins here. I'm guessing a Mickie win, which leads to a Rumble rematch where one of these two goes Mega-heel. WINNER: MICKIE JAMES
Bra & Panties Gauntlet Match
Ashley vs. Victoria vs. Maria vs. Candice Michelle vs. Torrie Wilson
And finally, some time filler! I have nothing against any of the girls in this match, but come on. Can you really expect 1 real wrestler to carry 4 Barbies to anything good? Just something for the live crowd, I guess. Like others have said, Candice is showing off in Playboy soon so she'll probably get the exposure (Ha!) here with a win. WINNER: CANDICE MICHELLE

Two right? Two right?!! Wow, these picks made sense to me. I should start flipping a coin or something. I bet that's what the creative team does.
Does it still count if Cena won the chamber match and lost to Edge afterwards?Yes. Cena won the Elimination Chamber. That's what we were predicting.

I'm so glad Edge won the belt. Now the champ will be booed mercilessly, and it'll actually help the product.

Thirty people made predictions for New Year's Revolution. That is an increase of two people from Armageddon. Our overall prediction rate was quite low, only 51%. That is a drop of ten percentage points from last month. Hopefully things will return to normal for the next pay-per-view.

hobbyfan has won the Intercontinental Championship for the second time! He first won the title back at Vengeance last year. The previous champion, Majin_Megabyte, is now the new number one contender. Four others are right behind them, though, so it's anybody's guess as to who will walk out of the Royal Rumble with the Intercontinental Championship.

Ladies and gentlemen, he is also the new World Heavyweight Champion...
hobbyfan!!! (110.5)
Top Contenders (147)
1. Deadman (107.5)
2. The Dork Knight (100)
3. Pturkey (98.5)

6. Robin2099 (95.5)
6. VCXZX
8. Shakezola (92)
9. Spike Mcdougal (91)
This is the first time hobbyfan has been World Heavyweight Champion and he now has all of the gold! The man he defeated to win the title, Deadman, is now the number one contender. The Dork Knight is quickly moving up the standings, and he is now right behind Deadman. hobbyfan will have little time to reflect on his great achievement because the Royal Rumble is fast approaching!

Thanks again and be sure to return later this month for the Royal Rumble!
The Intercontinental Title Champion is decided by a calculating who has the highest percentage of correct guesses over the three most recent pay-per-views. The Heavyweight Title score awards points for correct guesses (no penalty for wrong guesses) for the six most recent pay-per-views. The points system for the heavyweight title is weighted such that more recent pay-per-views are worth more points. Click here (http://www.rit.edu/~mdk8894/toonzone/newyearsrevolution06.xls) to view the spreadsheet used to make these calculations. Please, please check my work!

Oh, my stars! A double champion! Someone pinch me and tell me I'm dreaming this.;) I know my "reigns", if you will, will be short, but that's the beauty of this "promotion". We get to play pass the belt more often than WWE & TNA do.
You'll have to excuse me. I'm still in shock.:o

Uhh... did everybody forget about the tag division? I guess I'll have to figure the results out myself (if it's cool with the TWE brass)...
err, here's what I got...
Still the reigning Tag Team Champions.......
Rattrap and PTurkey!!
An injury to Bigddan11 in the weeks leading up to New Year's Revolution left the #1 contenders, The Dirty Players, unable to challenge the Headliners for their TWE Tag Team Championship. Not wanting to see the belts go undefended, TWE Commissioner Kippy found suitable replacements in the form of Spike Mcdougal and Kasumi and The Two Man Power Trip, WWE Mod The Penguin and himself. It became a Triple Threat tag team match for the titles. After a long, hard fought battle, The Headliners managed to hit a double team move on The Penguin to pick up the 1 2 3 and become the longest reigning TWE Tag Team champions in the title's short history (Two events long. Wow.). The next night on TWE RAW, the brother-sister duo of Zero Signal and Jewelz surprised everyone by winning a tag team Battle Royal to become the new #1 contenders for the tag team gold. There's gonna be some trouble for Rattrap and PTurkey in 3 weeks at the Royal Rumble.
TWE TAG TEAM LEADERBOARD
Champions - [The Headliners] Rattrap and PTurkey (25/36)*
#1. Zero Signal and Jewelz (21/36)
#2. [Two Man Power Trip] Kippy and The Penguin (19/36)
#3. Spike Mcdougal and Kasumi (18/36)
#4. [Evenflow] The Dork Knight and Knight42092 (15/36)#
#5. [The Dirty Players] Bigddan11 and Mike Spartz (14/36)#
#6. [The Pimps of the Inferno] Punisher and Shakezola (7/36)#
*The Tag Team Champions are crowned based on whichever "team" has the highest combined score at the three most recent WWE PPV events. And just because I happen to be one of the Tag Team champs doesn't mean I fixed the results in any way. I got more sense than that, man. I would never do such a thing. If you don't believe me, prove me wrong.
#Since the score combines both players performances for the PPV's, then one team member no showing earns 0 points.
Highest combined score for Survivor Series = 12
Hightest combined score for Armageddon = 12
Highest combined score for New Year's Revolution = 12
FINAL TOTAL = 36

Pinned in a triple threat tag match, sounds about right. I feel like Chris Jericho. I did decent, but never quite made it, had success all at once (http://forums.toonzone.net/showthread.php?p=1489483#post1489483), lost it all too quickly and then haven't been able to recapture my one-time glory. I'm in a terrible slump here.

The Royal Rumble is only a few weeks away, but two tag matches have already been announced. The Headliners already have the longest tag title streak at 2 months, but Zero Signal and Jewelz have quietly been abiding there time and have been granted the number one contender's spot. The title could change hands at the Rumble as these two forces collide. Meanwhile Two Man Power Trip refuses to be ignored and has placed themselves in a #1 contender's match against Spike McDougal and Kasumi. bigddan11 has also been cleared from his injury and will participate in the Rumble, but can he regain the momentum he had going into New Year's Revolution's to get The Dirty Player's back to their rightful place as champions?
