View Full Version : How could they make next year's June Bugs Better?
I don't think anyone has actually started a formal thread on this topic, so here goes.
Well, they could show all 11 "banned" cartoons, get ahold of the Jasper Puppetton, show all the movies, some Bugs Bunny show.
Or what if they did June Bugs in a "Bugs Bunny Show" sort of format? with old and new animated bumpers (but with all the original titles, of course)... And they could show the Snafu appearances.

a. show them all
b. show them as originally released
c. show them when normal people are awake
d. show them in 3-hour increments, then run all the commercials they can sell (while normal people do what needs to be done (changing the tape, baby, run errands - you know, have a life

I remember a few years ago when CN did the June Bugs marathon within the framework of "This Is Your LIfe" (I'm sure many of you younger people don't remember that show) and they did it within a set format (flashback 'toons, Yosemite Sam vs. Bugs, etc.) I found it quite interesting & very enjoyable. Maybe next year they can do it in the framework of directors (i.e. - Friz's Bugs vs. Jones's Bugs vs. McKimson's Bugs. All in all, it was just nice seeing 'toons that I have seen edited for years (both from CBS & ABC) in their complete form with opening titles and credits. Personaly, that's the only way to really watch & enjoy these wonderful films.
Nice to see them uncut, sure. But MAN do I hate those logos in the corner of the screen! PUH-leeze, CN, shrink them, or better yet, lose them altogether!
(wishful thinking, I know)

Show the Censored 11, or at least the other cartoons other than ATARS and BBNTN.

Not bloody likely.
'toons suppressed since 1968 are NOT going to suddenly appear.
(I have some experience with these...)

Uh, most of the "Censored 11 (formerly, the "Censored 12")" were viewable (some were even overplayed) up until about two years ago, only about four were totally banned in the 60s, eccept for a few local channels (as a few people here have mentioned.) Unless you thought PorkyandDaffy was speaking of the OTHER "Censored 11".
Personally, I think we should continue to referr to it as the "Censored 12," it makes things easier....

as the original quote referred to 'ATARS and BBNTN', I assumed he/she meant the original 'Censored 11'.
and you are more likely to see BBNTN than 'Sunday' (or, as you young-un's would call it 'SGTMT')
and... How about BBC12 for Bugs Bunny's Censored 12?

No, no, I meant the Bugs Bunny Censored 11 cartoons, not the other Censored 11's. Sorry for the mix up.
Bugs Bunny Nips The Nips isn't part of the "Censored 11," several people even claim to seeing it in the late 80s, but I can see why you would be mixed up. I'm going to keep referring to it as the "Censored 12" or "Bugs Bunny's Censored 12 (rather than the "Censored 11" as a few posters have)," since I very much doubt that "What's Cookin' Doc?" will be seen in the average rotation of "Acme Hour, "Looney Tunes Show," or "Bugs and Daffy." And besides, it is still classified in the same group as the others, as possibbly offensive to a minority race.
