The WWE Big Question™ #57 - 2005 Awards

[The Penguin]

2005. A year that saw many changes both good and bad in World Wrestling Entertainment. The second Draft Lottery took place over several weeks that saw, among other things, the switching of the Heavyweight Championships when WWE Champion John Cena ended up on RAW and World Heavyweight Champion Batista end up on SmackDown! just as Theodore Long was about to crown a new Champion.

We saw parody and spectacle as WrestleMania 21 went Hollywood, prompting WWE stars to spoof several popular films in celebration of the big event that saw long-time titleholders JBL and Triple H fall at the hands of the aforementioned Champions.

We saw controversy as storylines, world events and a move to SmackDown! spelled the end for Muhammad Hassan, the Arab-American wrestler with a chip on his shoulder, after a mere seven months with the company.

We saw two worlds collide as RAW and SmackDown! broke down the brand barrier and faced off in the fall and winter.

And we saw sadness as the entire wrestling world and beyond mourned the loss of Eddie Guerrero at the age of 38. :sad:

Favorite Eddie Guerrero Moment of 2005
When he cut a promo without saying a word and still got Heat

Best Wrestler-Shawn Michaels. Michaels had some kick-ass matches against Angle, and Shelton benjamin among others. He's still counted on as one of the best WWE wrestlers. Too bad, he didn't want to stay heel. :shrug:

Best Tag-Team. Big Show and Kane. Even though they're my 2nd favorite team (after spanky/London) They was perhaps the most dominant tag-team that we've ever seen in the WWE.

Best Rookie- Mr. Kennedy. I'll give it to Mr. Kennedy. Kennedy. His mic work was great, better than the other rookies. Which is why I gave him the award. Too bad he's injured. If the WWE has any tiny brains, they would have him appear on the shows and do like what Randy Orton did years ago. The RNN updates.

Biggest WWE Cut. I think I'll go with Christy Hemme. She was on the verge on improving her wrestling before getting the heave-ho. And you can't deny her energy every time she showed up. I would've given it to Haas but he's expected to return.

Best Draft Pick. I'll go with Bow-tista on Smackdown. he's improved the main event scene while being there.

Best Feud. Matt hardy vs. Edge. Ever since Hardy came back, I re-watched for weeks each appearance that he made. The first few ones that is. Edge was the MVP of this feud, and he showed great intesnity the likes of which I've never seen from him.

Best Face Turn. Batista. His turn on HHH was brilliant and was everything that Randy orton's turn wasn't.

Best Heel Turn. Booker T. I wasn't looking forward to Booker as a heel. But ever since the Benoit series, he has really stepped up as a top heel.

Best Promo. I'll go with Edge talking about Matt Hardy. This was after Matt "officially" signed with the WWE. This was also when Edge took credit for having Matt return.

Best wwe.com improvement. Having Velocity and Heat become wwe.com exclusives. I liked and still like the idea of wwe.com being the home of Heat and Velocity. You can watch them at any time of the day. Which is very good. Because I had schedule conflicts lots of times with the B-Shows. Heat always conflicted with Football. Now that's not a problem.

"What in the Hell". At least a 100 things could be the recipent of this award. I'll go with the "J.R." Operation. A very pointless thing that never meant anything after Austin walked out again. Runner-up goes to the Randy Orto/Eddie's lowrider incident and Show and Kane defeated Bow-tista/Rey Rey.

"Holy :ack: " I'll go with the backstage segment with matt Hardy returning. I did not see that coming. A total shock.

Better Brand. Smackdown. Both aren't as good as they used to. But RAW has more fallacies than Smackdown. Plus Smackdown has better wrestling action as of late, so I go with that.

Favorite Eddie Guerrero Moment of 2005. When Eddie started reading his Bedtime story to Dominic. That laughter he makes always gets me.
