Best Move: Hmmm, this is a toughie, but I'm going to have to say making more episodes of Clone Wars. And renewing Ed Edd n Eddy. Nothing else stood out as good.
Worst Moves: There are a bunch of them. Bar none though is Live Action Movies, as it THROWS AWAY EVERYTHING CARTOON NETWORK STANDS FOR! Sure, there's always going to ads in life action, but that's obvious. Sure there's live action bumpers with Tommy and Tara but hey that's not in the actual shows. (Besides I think they could do a funny toon spinoff called "The Fridays Show" starring Tommy, Tara, Longhaul and even that CN Announcer Girl Nikki). But Live action movies? I swear if I could hit the person who made that decision I would... over and over again. And then maybe a few more times as well.

Best Move: Airing Naruto to the mainstream public. :)
Worst Move: LIVE ACTION frickin' MOVIES! That pretty much sums up what I was going to say was the best and worst moves that CN made this year.

Best: Going to have to agree with showing more Clone Wars, and the Summer kick of special was a nice touch as well.
Worst: Clearly airing Live Action movies, especially ones that had nothing to do with cartoons. Infact it might be one of the dumbest things that they've ever done.

Best: Camp Lazlo, Naruto
Worst: Live-Action Movies
Nin-Nin69
12-27-2005, 01:49 AM
Best: Getting a bunch of great new shows to air on CN.
Worst: Live action movies and horrible schedule changes.
If anyone knows me by now, you will know my fave decision/move etc of 2005 was.....
The New Bumpers!!! :D
Well...for the UK at least.
Other decisions that were good: Having more animated film marathons was a big one. Also, as much as some people don't like it, the competitions done by Bloo were pretty cool. Simply because the guy who does it actually SOUNDS like Bloo unlike that idiot who does Shaggy when Casey Kahem isn't there.
Worst Decisions: Not improving the CNUK website, getting rid of the clip section on CNUS, Not showing enough toons to fill the schedules and finally, not having a concrete one at that. I mean, how many shows have been thrown on the metaphorical 'wall' to stick from Toonami? Plenty.
Oh, and showing Da Boom Crew. Worst Toon of '05.

Best: Star Wars: Clone Wars Volume 2, Sunday Pants, Non AS TV-PG material, Ed,Edd,n Eddy, adding the 5-6 hour for [adult swim](thus giving us Popeye, Cartoon Planet, Gigantor, The Bob Clampett Show, and Toonheads), and airing Animation Show shorts, the summer preview, Naruto
Worst: Live-action movies and a mainly live-action show(Zixx), Tickle U, the horrible late-night Friday change that took away Samurai Jack, Justice League, Johnny Bravo, Time Squad, Megas XLR, etc., no Looney Tunes or other classics(besides on Adult Swim), YGO on Toonami

Best:
* Naruto
* Bobobo-bo-bo-bobo
* Continuing with Billy and Mandy
* The Cartoon Cartoon Show
* Sunday Pants as well as other TV-PG, Non Adult Swim Shows
Worst:
*Number One For Sure: LIVE ACTION MOVIES!!!
* Taking Yu Yu Hakusho off of Toonami and putting it into it's crap timeslot.
* Megas XLR cancellation.
* CN Being a Bunch of Ratings Whores.
* Taking Sunday Pants off Before it's Completed (GEEZ, it's not like they replaced it with something that we don't see everyday. )
* Not So Much a Move, but IGPX to me is very dissapointing and is a boring show, IMO.
* More Hi Hi Puffy Ami Yumi on the way. (Honestly, that show is so horrible and deserved to last only 13 episodes at most.)
* No Action Shows on Late-Friday (Come on, Friday doesn't need a repeat! I'm sure it doesn't get THAT much better of ratings later.)

If I had to pick one singular high and low moment:
Best of 2005:
Dragon Ball Z Uncut airing first airing outside of Toonami and Adult Swim.
Worst of 2005:
Live Action Movies. I guess they forgot what the network was called. Well, with G4, and CN, my sig is going to be true. I can feel it.
Mr. Manager
12-27-2005, 09:45 PM
I guess they forgot what the network was called. Well, with G4, and CN, my sig is going to be true. I can feel it.That is very true. In fact Fox Sports Network was airing a Hooters pagent earlier and The Best Damn Sports Show Period has many non-sports guests.
Zyzzybalubah
12-27-2005, 11:33 PM
Well, with G4, and CN, my sig is going to be true. I can feel it.I definitely see what you're saying and I pretty much agree. It's pretty depressing. I wonder if the Weather Channel will start airing movies like "The Perfect Storm," "The Day After Tomorow," and "Twister." :D And just because it's a forecast for the possible future, "Independence Day."
You know, I hope On-Demand from Comcast and other digital cable providers grows bigger, and perhaps for those without digital cable, the Internet can provide some programming of shows that got cancelled and that companies don't want to release on DVD. The i-Pod video thing is great. Cartoon Network could set up a possible service where you can buy episodes of shows like Megas XLR and Sheep and the Big City (people demand DVDs, yet CN isn't providing) and other various shows where they fear that they won't sell enough DVDs of. Perhaps they could set it up where you can pay one price for an episode, another for a season, and then one price for the whole series!

Best:
TV-PG programing semi-regularly
Airing Camp Lazlo and Foster's Home
Renewing Ed, Edd n Eddy
Picking up Naruto, Bo-Bobo and Zatch Bell for Toonami
Renewing JLU for a 3rd season
Friday late night action
Bringing YYH back from the dead (despite the awful time slot)
Airing Sunday Pants
Returning old CC's with the Cartoon Cartoon Show
Worst:
Airing live aciton movies (except WFRR)
Picking up hybrid live action / animated programing
Greenlighting some really lack luster stuff
Scheduling overall
Giving JLU the cold shoulder
Getting rid of Friday night action besides Naruto
Shafting YYH and TMNT
Airing YGO on Toonami
Acquiring DICE and 4kids One Piece for Toonami
Airing the crap out of Teen Titans, KND, Code LYOKO, Static Shock, Krypto and various other series (most of which aired on Miguzi at some point)
Taking steps away from being a strictly animation channel period

Worst:

01-04-2006, 05:15 PM
Best moves:
- Naruto
- Zatch Bell's debut
- Bobobo!!
- New episodes from the 'Ed boys.
- New Foster's episodes.
- Camp Lazlo.
- Bringing back some of CN's older shows.
- Seeing more TV-PG programming outside of [adult swim].
- Juniper Lee
- Puffy AmiYumi
Worst:
- Dumping the late Friday-early Saturday AM shows (Courage, Scooby, etc.) in favor of a second airing of Fridays.
- Airing live-actioned movies (it's one of those What the hell were they thinking? kind of decisions)
- Cancelling Teen Titans (although I do believe it can be kept alive, even if the odds are slim)
What CN needs to do in 2006 (I'm throwing this in):
- CN needs to listen to all of its fans, even the older folks
- CN needs to do more and better DVD/video releases of its original programming (bring me those Foster's DVDs, darn it!!)
- I do agree that some of the scheduling needs work.
- Abandon the live-action stuff on CN -- that's what TBS,TNT, HBO, and Cinemax are for!!
weirdojace
01-04-2006, 06:59 PM
Best:
-Bringing Powerpuff Girls back to the schedule (although I don't know if it's gonna actually stay there very long...)
-New Foster's episodes
-New Ed Edd n Eddy episodes
-Cartoon Cartoon show, although I do think the classic Cartoon Cartoons deserve their own timeslot somewhere on the schedule.
Worst:
-live action movies
-Camp Lazlo (I'm sorry Joe Murray, I love Rocko, but I was expecting better than this from you)
-Megas XLR cancellation
-Not airing "See Me, Feel Me, Gnomey" (although I did get a chance to see this episode... it's too bad it didn't air, it was very good.)
-Playing the same shows over and over several times a day when those timeslots could easily be used for a classic Cartoon Cartoon
-Puffy Ami Yumi. They'll release DVD volumes of this crap but they won't give us season sets of PPG?

The Best:
* The Return of Powerpuff Girls and Dexter's Lab to the lineup
* The superbly-entertaining new CN original, Krypto the Superdog
* Incredibly humorous and successful first-run episodes of Foster's--"Mac Daddy," "Squeakerboxx," "Frankie, My Dear," "Go Goo Go," and "Crime after Crime" being the best of those.
* Consistently enjoyable shows "Totally Spies," and "Teen Titans" continue with weekday timeslots
* Premieres of Pokemon movies 4, 5, 6
* Clone Wars Volume 2! (If that wasn't this year, please correct)
* The first four episodes of the new season of Justice League Unlimited, which are just great.
* Justice League's weekend morning timeslot, which caught me up on a bunch that I missed.
* Hi Hi Puffy Ami Yumi--still a cute, fun little show
* The premiere of the hilariously off-the-wall BoBoBo BoBoBo
* Tara on Fridays--doesn't hurt that she's cute, but she's funny too
The Worst:
Not too much to complain about, since most of the H-B shows (and Looney Tunes) are out and more are coming...
* Ed, Edd, and Eddy--a poor show IMO--getting new episodes when Dexter's Lab and Powerpuff Girls (which never jumped the shark) don't get new ones
* Billy and Mandy--a show I just can't get into
* Still no Hamtaro!?! What's up with that?

Best:
They've supposedly gotten Toonami good ratings again.
But at what cost?
Nice to know I'm not the only one CN is bugging the heck out of with these live action movies. Hey Turner, you have TBS, TNT and TCM to air all the live action movies you want, don't air them on a channel that is suppose to be devoted to cartoons. "Who Framed Roger Rabit?" was one thing, because it was a combination of live action and animation, so it does sort of fit. But Snow Day, The Gooneis, come on they have zip to do with animation, maybe their family films, but this isn't a family channel like Disney and The Family Channel, its a Cartoon channel treat it like one for crying out loud. I use to love Cartoon Theatre it was one of the few things this channel still had that I was interested in, and now they have ruined it as well. Hey, if any intern from CN is out there on thiis board here is a list of animated movies that CN hasn't shown and you ought to look into the rights of.
All the Loony toon movies, don't tell me you don't have them or can't get access to them, you have Loony toons on Boomerang and on TCM, so it shouldn't be too hard to get rights to the movies.
Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron
Thumbelina
Heck if you rack you brain you can come up with more I am sure. At this point you can show the tenth showing of Balto or Bon Voyage Charlie Brown and it would be an improvement to this live action stuff. Please I don't tune in to CN for Live action. Come to think of it these days I hardly tune into CN at all, and I use to like this channel.

Never jumped the shark!? You can't be serious. PPG was huge for a number of years. And CN already tried giving both of them new episodes 2 or 3 years ago, and I think we all know how that went.

I'm 20 and I just enjoy the shows that I mentioned. WHat's the problem with that? Is it so radical to simply enjoy a show that some others don't.

I don't think they did. Later Dexter's Lab remained hugely enjoyable in my opinion with greats like "Comedy of Feathers," "Chess Mom," and many others. And, Powerpuff Girls remained great through "I See A Funny Cartoon in Your Future." In fact, the animation in later-PPG was quite notable.

What EEnE is one of the greatest original shows that Cartoon Network ever created! Dexter's Lab was excellent up until they revived it after Ego Trip and didn't have Genndy, Craig, and the rest of the crew of the original run and I wish was never brought back unless it was as good as before. Finally I've always hated Powerpuff Girls.

There's nothing wrong with his opinion. In fact, I'm glad someone ELSE realized the pure suck of EEE and Grim Adventures. Those shows are the single reason why CN is dead to me until AS comes on.
Also, I LIKE Krypto. Its amusing. (Unlike the aforementioned CCs.)
Best moves:
Krypto the Superdog
Zatch Bell
Naruto
Atomic Betty (Hey look, its a show for girls where the main girl doesn't think about a guy every second of the show. I'm SHOCKED. More, please.)
Juniper Lee
Yu-Gi-Oh! GX
Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends
Naruto
Worst moves:
GX's airing schedule
Ed, Edd, and Eddy's return (Everytime I think its dead it keeps coming back....why God, why?!)
Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy (The suspension of belief just is NOT there for me. I keep asking why Grim hasn't killed the two of them and moved on. How can I laugh?)
The fact that the two aforementioned shows (along with Foster) are always on
TT ending
JLU not airing enough
12oz. Mouse
Squidbillies (it should've just been a joke, darn it!)
Tom Goes to the Mayor coming back
Winx Club
One Piece (I don't like the show to begin with, but I hate the dub)
BoBoBo...whatever.
Megas XLR being cancelled
Live action movies
A lot more that I can't even remember.
Advice for 2006: Nothing can save CN from being even worse unless they bring back some of their old toons.
Ykwia

Best Move for CN:
Neon Genesis Evangellion
Edd, Ed, & Eddy Renewal
IGPX
Brining Naruto to Kids Everywhere.
Worst Move for CN:
Live-Action Movies
Ending of TT without answering all questions.
Airing Mizakti's Spirited Away, (Seriously Daviegh Chase must die!!!)
Live-Action Shows appearing.
Making New Episodes air Saturdays.
Axing Sunday Pants.
Bringing Back Lupin The Thrid to the Adult Swim Lineup.
Going the Way of G4.
Ben 10 and Robotboy ripping off Danny Phantom and My Life as A Teenage Robot.
Possible Merger or Name Change.
Seriously CN has got to change it's ways, Otherwise, It will end up like another demographic channel like G4 and SpikeTV.

Making us expect the Foster's version of EuroTrip (or "Regina Monologues"), and then totally ripping us off! To Lauren "Girl Named Goo" Faust: Actually, an overseas vacation with imaginary friends would breathe new life into the tired "vacation ep" genre (more than ripping off the viewers).

*Ed, Edd, and Eddy--a poor show IMO--getting new episodes when Dexter's Lab and Powerpuff Girls (which never jumped the shark) don't get new ones
I'm sure a lot will agree with me when I say that Ed, Edd, n Eddy is one of the few CN originals that is like wine. It only get's better with age. I was afraid that the new ones with the time off they had would end up like Dexter, and PPG and Bravo did. Terrible writing, and different animation, and i'm glad I was proven wrong. PPG and Dexter were tops when they premired, but thanks to the "new episodes", that shark was well over the tank. Now as far as repeats, the only thing I can say is it must be getting good ratings to justify the airings.

Meh. EEE was a bad idea that just gets more and more stupid as time passes. PPG was a horrible show with the worst role models for girls. (I'd rather a girl have the morals of Wonder Woman than Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup.) Dexter was okay to start, but eventually the whole "big sister destroys the lab" thing just gets tiresome. Only a few episodes were decent. Bravo.....uhm. They got so caught up in slapschtick that they FORGOT PLOTLINES THEY SET. When the show started Bravo was a master martial artist. WHY several years/seasons later (I think after they changed animation and writers) is he now in martial arts school? And sucks. Even before then they had him getting his butt kicked by everything from little kids to women. Looney Tunes didn't give characters that much development so they didn't need continuity. CCs should take a note from that....

In The uk, the best move was the CN bumpers.
