Hey fans and folks,
Beginning this summer, the newspage has been undergoing radical changes. A new server, a new look, a new name, logo, etc. Aside from that, we'll also be expanding the newspage a bit. We're trying to build a newspage that not only is a part of this site, but can also stand on it's own more. We plan to ad a section for Editorials, Comic Solicitations, and hopefully, Correspondance Updates. What that last one mean, you say?
Well, we hope to have fans volunteer to report news from the front lines of comic conventions and animation get togethors. Sometimes the best news doesn't come from "insiders" but from the fans themselves. We plan to add new sections to the newspage as it evolves but above are the three sections we hope to work on over this summer. If you wanna help you, like submitting an editorial or send us some news from a comicon, then email me so we can straighten things out. There's no pay invovlved but don't feel bad. I don't get paid either.
I'll have more updates soon on our ever evolving newspage!

You know I'm in! I'll be hitting the Chicago Con this year - probably all three days. Don't know if I'll have e-mail access those days or not, but if I do, I'll try and send in some updates, etc. If you or anyone else out there wants me to badger anyone specific at the con, or has specific info they want me to try and find out, let me know, and I'll see what I can do.

Stuff like that is great! It's great to have fans who are able to help out. I hear that the Comicon will be a huge one this year, and I'm hoping that some choice Batfolks and JLers will be there! Heck maybe you could even use this to yer advantange! You could say like "THis is "Clayface" from World's Finest Headlines!"...who knows what that'll getcha!

Hmmmm. Now that's an idea! Its too bad they wouldn't give us press passes or something to the con. That would be awesome! But, now that you've put the idea in my head, maybe I can indeed use this to my advantage! We already know that quite a few people involved with the animated shows and comics are familiar with the site, so.....

It is quite possible to just whip up a badge on the computer. I've done it, and so did a "reporter" for BATMAN: THE ANIMATED NEWSLETER and it worked. He just made one up on his computer, and lamented it, and hung it around his neck. Now I odn't wanna give anyone ideas....

Hmmmm. Coouple of questions. How does one officially go about getting one of these passes? What do they consider "real" press? How would one go about finding out what an official pass look slike if one were shifty enough to try and fake one of these passes?

I'm not too sur eon that, Clayface. I assume they're not all the same. I'll ask a couple of my friends and see what I can pull.

Has anyone from the World's Finest or B:TAN tried to get an official press pass before? Its worth a shot if it hasn't been attempted before.

I'm not exactly sure. For WF, that hasn't happened yet, although I'm trying, actually. I've been asking other webmasters considered 'online press' for help on this. As for B:TAN, I'm not sure, but if you email my co-editor Tim leighton and ask (juno@dccnet.com) I bet he'll answer ya.

Ok,I'll e-mail him about it. Let me know if you find out anything more about the official online press - I'd be happy to work as one of the press for th site at the convention if there's any way of actually pulling it off.

joker, you live in Alabama? Me too. And your right, nothing ever comes here. But I go to DragonCon over in Atlanta every year. That's only a couple of hours away from Birmingham( actually I live about 40 miles south of Birmingham in a small town called Montevallo.)

Maybe this can help. Well, to be officially part of a press group, you have to be a certified reporter, meaning you have to get a degree in journalism and apply for some press association. I think that's how it works, because my freind is a reprter for a local station here in the bay area. But I think that's for being in the big time press. Like presidential hearings, news conferences, etc.
As far as comic conventions go, I'm not sure how they handle that. Would they let you go in free if you have a press badge? I don't know... but it's worth a shot. Good luck :)

boy DG..trying to get clayface to get an illegal press pass..tsk tsk.. you'll go to any bounds neccesarry, won't ya? lol
But, no way am I complaining. That's cool. I can't go to the ComicCon, and I'd love to be filled in on everything.
Hey, Clayface, I'll make you avatars for life (or at least the life of this board), if you can find the person in charge of the BatmanBeyond comic, and ask them why they are cancelling it!

Oh, I'm sure the officials of this board wouldn't do such a thing. I'm sure the mods of the boards wouldn't sanction any illegal actions. ;)
Doesn't mean I won't try if that's what it comes to though. :)

Ok, I'll work on it. I'm sure someone there will have some dirt on this topic.

You guys really made your own passes? How long ago was this? I'd imagine the press badges would be of some sort of solid color or something that would look funny off of a normal printer.
My brother had this friend who used to work at Kinkos, whenever a big event would come to town they would use that Kinkos for all their stuff, including back stage passes - he would also print a couple extras ;)

Are you going to wear your Star Trek uniform to the con, CLAYFACE?
