I remember a while ago 2 bold moves cn did
1. the iron gianr marathon. they aired the iron giant all day long
2. looney tunes marathon- on the weekend they showed looney toons all day saturday and sunday
i dont remember either of those, but i could use a 2 day looney tunes marathon right about now!

I do remember the Iron Giant marathon. I don't know if I'd entirely call it a "bold move" simply because TBS and TNT have both pulled similar stunts with movies, with TBS showing 24 hours of "The Christmas Story" this Christmas Eve, so I'm actually more surprised CN hasn't pulled this more than the one or two times they have.
But by today's standards, showing even one episode of Looney Tunes on CN would be a "bold move", let alone an entire marathon!

looney tunes marathon- on the weekend they showed looney toons all day saturday and sunday You are referring to "June Bugs", which they did from 1993-2002. In 2003, it moved to Boomerang. You'd catch that every year on the first Saturday/Sunday in June.

There was also "Millooneyum" to celebrate the coming of the 21st century.

Iron Giant marathon bored me to tears. I never liked to movie. Now if it was a Balto marathon of all three Balto movies shown over and over again in a randomized order, then I would consider watching it.

To be honest, I really didn't like it when June Bugs interrupted my favorite shows. Nor did I like it when the Iron Giant interrupted my favorite shows. Maybe reruns are just a bad idea in general.

June Bugs I could stand. The Iron Giant marathon...yeah. If you watch the same movie over and over again for a whole day, you've got a lot of time on your hands. I do like that movie, I just don't like to watch it over and over and over again.

They did the 24 hour Iron Giant marathon to coincide with The Powerpuff Movie premiere. All the commercials were trailers and promos for the movie.

Iron Giant marathon bored me to tears. I saw it when it was in theaters during the summer of '99. It was sad

Ooooh... THAT'S where it went. Okay, well now I know that.
About the 24-hour Iron Giant marathon- even Iron Giant, like it was said before in this thread, gets tiring the 12th time around.

I think it'd be a bit difficult to "randomize" three movies. You'd run the risk of airing the same movie two times in a row.
Now, a marathon of just Don Bluth movies would be good. Balto, American Tail, Land Before Time, Secret of NIMH, Anastasia...maybe a couple of the sequels too.
Actually, I'd love to see Secret of NIMH aired on CN even just once. It's run on TNT before, way back when.

I remember those. I never got why any network would do "the 24 hours of (insert 1, and ONLY ONE movie title) marathon." I know ratings don't matter too much on holidays, but come on, you know you can add variety. Repeating the same movie over and over is stupid. I'm glad CN can't really do that with Iron Giant anymore (they're too hell bent on ratings, and then there's Adult Swim on every night.) Now to get TBS and/or TNT to stop with their "24 hours of a Christmas Story." I'll probably watch it once though. :)
