View Full Version : Custumize your own Justice League

OK here's another hypothetical question for you guys. If you could take 7 of YOUR favorite super heroes (DC, Marvel, Image or whatever) and band them together to form a JL that would be catered to your favorite characters, who would make the cut? Remember that this has nothing to do with popularity or who deserves to be on a team according to a bunch of marvel or DC executives sitting around a table trying to please everybody. Just aim to please yourself. Seven characters just like on JL starring in an animated snow just like JL only all of them are your choice. Ive actually given this one a lot of thought so here are my choices:
1. BATMAN- Obviously I choose him because I feel that he is the coolest superhero there is. He is extremely intelligent and clever and would be the one who knows how to put the rest of the teams abilities to good use. His detective skills are unmatched and he would almost always be the one to come up with that last second plan that saves the day.
2. SUPERMAN- I wouldn't feel right doing the justice league concept without supes. He doesnt rank up there as one of my all time favorite superheroes but he defines the kind of character who belongs on a team like this. Over the years the character of superman has impressed me a lot (I used to think he was boring because he was so powerful.) He's a natural born figure head, but I would probably have him co-lead with Batman. Superman is just someone that all the other characters would respect.
3. ROGUE- Next in line of superiority on my team is Rogue. She's probably my all time favorite leader for any team of heroes so she'd be third in command. I think that Rogue would be the kick butt solution to a wonder woman-like character only she'd be a lot more hard core and have a thousand times more of an interesting personality. I would borrow heavily from Chris Claremonts recent take on rogue, she'd be 99.9% "Yahoo I'm a superhero!" and only 00.1% "Boo-hoo I cant touch people." Rogue would have all her ms. marvel powers of flight, super strength, super speed, and invulnerablility, played up a bit so she could content with guys like superman (not that I'd
have to do much to play her up.) And she'd have a couple other powers that she'd end up stuck with like Wolvies bone claws and probably Cyclop's Optic Blasts.
4. SPIDER-MAN- Spidey would be pretty close to Rogue in the line of leadership. He's awesome because he's so damn human. I'd explore a lot of his psychological problems and do a couple of episodes that show the kind of grief he has to go through (his wife Mary Jane would regularly show up in Spidey focused episodes.) But at the same time he would always be the wise cracking web-slinger who makes freinds with just about everybody on the team and drives the villains nuts.
5. GREEN LANTERN- Kyle Rayner would sport the ring of Green lantern. He's a very artistic guy who has very creative solutions to problems. He's a big time rookie who has perhaps more power than anyone else on the team which would cause problems from time to time. Overall Kyle just wants to make a difference in the world and reach his potential. Like Spidey, he's a young fun loving guy, but he's more rash and impulsive at times.
6. ICE-MAN- Ice-Man is my all time favorite superhero. He is here for that reason more than any other but that doesnt mean I can't justify his presence in other ways. Ice-Man on my show would be post-potential-reaching Ice-Man. He would not be toned down at all. I would tone him WAY up! In his ice-form he would be able to alter his molecular stucture to any form he wanted giving him potential for incredible strength and durablility. He would be able to go into a "slushier" form and slip through hard to reach areas etc. And while he wouldnt be indestructable he'd always pull himself back together again. Ice-man is easily the biggest goof ball on my team but he would know when to get serious and when he gets serious he gets hard core too.
7. MARVEL GIRL- No not Jean Grey. I'm talking about Valeria Richards. She's the daughter of Mr. Fantastic and the Invisible Woman and she has incredible cosmic powers. Mr. Fantastic is actually my second favorite superhero but it would be too weird for me to break up the F4 so i didnt put any of them on the JL, and opted for this way awesome supporting F4 character created by Chris Claremont. Marvel Girl would be full of surprises in battle, which is why i'd keep her powers kind of vague like they are in the comics. You'd never know when she'd suddenly go into hyper speed or fire a blast ofcosmic energy. One thing I would do is play up her psychic powers a lot so there could be a telepath on the team ( a very useful attribute.) She'd also be the main mechanic/inventer being the daughter of Reed Richards. Valeria is only about 15 but her intelligence surpases most of the other members of the league. At heart though she's just a kid out for adventure.

Eh, why not...
Leader - Spiderman (Cause I aint gonna have Supes..and Spidey's a good leader)
2) Batman (duh)
3) GL (Kyle, not John)
4) Cap. Might be the leader...certainly 2nd in command (I'm not a big fan, but he's a good team player..)
5) Wolvie.. (Helps boost ratings...good in a fight...)
6) Phoenix (Telepaths == Good)
7) Steel or IronMan...maybe forge...someone who can build stuff..
Anyway, Bats & Spidey are the brains, JL, Cap & Wolvie are the fighters, Cap & Spidey are the heart. Only one gal...although, if we replace Kyle with Jade from the comics....hrm....

Well I would like to see three teams:
Justice League - LIMITED !
In a time before a Justice League, in a world brought to it's knees by Ra's Al Ghul and Poison Ivy, in a time when the World's Finest Heroes remain trapped and powerless under a kryptonite dome spanning from the Heart of Gotham City to the outskirts of Metropolis, in a time when Lex Luthor's deal with a demon may have been infultrated by an unknown entity (Brainiac, perhaps..?), humanity must turn to six heroes existing outside the forcefield to end the chaos and madness!!!
They are:
- Kara Inze - Supergirl
- Dick Grayson - Nightwing
- Helena (Idon'trememberherlastname!) - Huntress
- Tim Drake - Robin
- Barbara Gordon - Batgirl
- Kyle Raynor - Green Lantern
A story which follows to fall of Kyle's career, the last encounter with Brainiac and humanity as well as the unveilling of a secret that Clark has kept from Lois for too long!
(ahem)
Side note: I would also be interested in seeing Storm (from X-men) team up with JL, as her powers and appearance are very...hot!
But all I really want to see by the end of the Justice League series is Aquaman join the team in their time of greatest need..the death (?) of Hawkgirl, and see John Stewart train Kyle Raynor as he tries to once again step into the role of Green Lantern!

Interesting idea. Here's my seven:
1. SUPERMAN- Absolutely, positively need him. Everything you could want in a superhero. Power, speed, idealism, and (when written properly) brains. When the chips are down and it looks like all is lost, it's up to Superman to save the day.
2. CAPTAIN AMERICA- Superman may be the one to pull off the miracles, but Captain America is who I'd choose for team leader. Idealistic when even Superman gets discouraged, no one can pull everyone through and know exactly how to pull everyone together like Cap. Then, of course, there's the brilliant battle strategy and fighting skills.
3. IRON MAN- The team's technologist. If you need something built or some technical problem ironed (pardon the pun) out, Iron Man's the one to do it. Throw in a healthy dose of power to boot and Iron Man's essential.
4. BATMAN- I'd still use Iron Man for technology and Captain America for battle strategy, but when something doesn't make sense or there's something that seems odd and the team can't quite put their collective finger on it, Batman is the one who figures it out. Good source of conflict in the stories too between Captain America's "play-by-the-book" attitude and Batman's "whatever-it-takes-to-serve-justice" view, not to mention potential struggles for leadership of the team, since Batman doesn't like taking orders but will do it when necessary.
5. WONDER WOMAN- The warrior of the group. With power second only to Superman's and her Amazon battle skills, no one's better at opening up a can of whoop-a@@ than Wonder Woman.
6. ZATANNA- The mystical member of the group to help handle the occasional demon/mad wizard/other-dimensional type that springs up. Besides, the fishnets are to die for. :wakko:
7. SPIDER-MAN- The team's early-warning system (spider-sense, ya know), comic relief, and dodge-anything member. Spidey would be the fun member of the group, there to help offset the overseriousness (is that even a word?) of the others.
There were, of course, a lot of characters who just barely missed the cut. Maybe if the team has a recruitment drive someday. :)

I think if I had to develop the "ultimate" Justice League it would have to include:
1. Batman
2. Captain America
3. Wonder Woman
4. Superman
5. The Hulk
6. Invisible Girl (Sue Richards)
and
7. Green Lantern (Hal Jordan)
Runner -ups/Alternate three (3):
1. Spider-man
2. Batgirl
and
3. Aquaman

1. Supergirl (Kara Zor-El of Krypton)
2. Huntress (Helena Wayne of Earth-2)
3. Magik (Illyana Rasputin)
4. Brainiac 5 (Querl Dox, pre-boot competent variety, not the post boot lab-exploding Brainy 5.1 garbage)
5. Green Lantern (Alan Scott of Earth-2)
6. Martian Manhunter
7. Vixen.

1. Superman- The one and only
2. Spiderman- C'mon its Spiderman!
3. Batman- The darkest and coolest superhero around
4. Wonderwoman- Cause you need at least one chick who can kick *****!
5. Green Lantern (Kyle Raynor)- Just cause
6. The Flash- Hell yeah! One of my favs, very cool
7. Captain America- No explination needed

Batman: He's the brains, bar none.
Doctor Fate: If every super group had a magician, they wouldn't get into so much trouble.
Wonder Woman: Born warrior.
Iron Man: The only Marvel character I really like (I read other Marvel books, but that depends on the creative teams. I like the character Iron Man even when his book stinks.) You can never have too much technical know how.
Captain Atom: Give him back his Ditko Era personality, though.
Photon: OK, another Marvel character (formerly the second Captain Marvel at Marvel Comics). She has power and speed, and she's underused at Marvel. Put her in the JLA.
Namor: An underwater hero with more land power than Aquaman.

There are always posts about which heroes should make up the JLA on the DC message boards. I fall in the camp of those who would liek a team of more heroes (the Satellite era of the 70's had 14 members).
7 heroes from anywhere? That's almost too broad to choose from.
1) Captain America - the only guy who could actually lead a team of possibly hundreds of heroes and actually make it work and use them effectively in any crisis.
2) Superman - his array of abilities makes him almost indispensable. If the team is limited to 7, he also makes many others redundant, including Wonder Woman, Hawkgirl, and Flash, no matter how much we like them.
3) Batman - he just has the brains to figure out any situation.
4) Mr. Fantastic = Mr. Technology. This guy can build anything. Anything.
5) Dr. Strange - have to agree with those that say a mystic would help this team.
6) Aquaman - as shown in JL and recent JLA and his own comic, he IS the ruler of 3/4 of the Earth and commands an army of troops with advanced weaponry.
7) Spawn - just because of his connections.

Alright now howabout a team of villains to counter your JL. Here would be mine.
Just to recap my team is:
Batman
Superman
Rogue
Spiderman
Green Lantern (Kyle Rayner)
Iceman
Marvel Girl (Valeria Richards)
To lead my Injustice Gang I would turn to perhaps my all time favorite supervillain DR. DOOM. Dooms got a little something to counter everybody with. He's got brains that would rivial Bats, Black Magic for Supes, Gadjetry that would make anything Marvel girl builds look like it was made out of legos, and little tricks in his armor that would counter the others.
Next, I hate to be so predictable, but the JOKER would have to be there. Theres no way around it. Because no matter how predictable it is that I'd have him there to represent the Batman villains, the whole point of him there is that he's the most unpredictable of all supervillains and would be Doom's ace in the hole, the wildcard that keeps everybody on their toes. Maybe I'd attach Harley to the group too by association but knowing me thered be enough Joker and Harley episodes of the show that I wouldn't need to.
Next I'd have SABRETOOTH. Another one of my personal faves. Creed would be the big time fighter of the mix. He'd cause all sorts of trouble for the fighters of my team (mainly Batman and Spidey) since he's pretty much an evil Wolverine.
LIVEWIRE is the deadly energy weilder of the group. She'd be everywhere at once shoving deadly blasts of high voltage down the throats of our heroes.
Spidey's pesky foe the CHAMELEON is the shapeshifter. He's not the best fighter but Doom would find plenty of use for him in espionage/trickery type situations.
JUGGERNAUGHT is the muscle. He's slow but he's also unstoppable and he's backed up by 6 other people.
POISON IVY is there because not only should there be another girl, but there should be as many batman villains as I can get away with (cuz their the coolest). Ivy would help to provide an army of her plant creatures to help outnumber the League.

Ok, my own personal JL would be a combination of many different people and things. Here goes...
Superman: needed
Batman: has to be in there
Godzilla: for fighting giant monsters
Optimus Prime: why not?
Spiderman: to lighten things up
Wonder Woman: a needed arse kicker
Storm: for a rainy day
Lt. Commander Data (S:TNG): sure, he makes 8 members, but it would be interesing
Alternates:
GL (Jon or Kyle)
Michael Knight and KITT
Supergirl
Batgirl (either Babs or Cassandra Cain)
Tranzor Z: just because no other member emerges out of a swimming pool
Flash: again, to lighten things up
Dr. Fate: I think he's cool
Blade: 'cuz there could be vampires
Bad guys:
Megatron: who's gonna fight Prime?
Lex Luthor
Joker: gotta be there
Space Godzilla: everyone needs a rival
Ras Ah Guhl: sooo spelled that wrong!
Borg Queen: you know, to assimilate stuff
Darth Vader: at least for the cool breathing sounds
Evil Angel: a cool rival for Blade
See, I told you they'd be from everywhere...

1.Superman/Clark Kent-the leader of this strong team he has a lot to carry, especially with jokers like Virgil and Wally,or attitudes like Shayera or Vixen. He is held in the highest respect. (no heroe could take his place)
2.Batman/Bruce Wayne-not there a lot but when needed hes your man to help out.Always in the shadows but never without a plan.
3.Green Lantern/John Stewart-Military man js constantly conflicts with virgil and wally. Though he has a bit of an attraction to Storm.Because she as no nonsince as he is.
4.Hawkgirl/Shayera Hol-tough girl who conflicts with Vixen.
5.Wonder Woman/Diana-tough amazon chick.sHe doesn't need a man, but plenty of man would want her.Shes a warrior.
6.Jonn Jonzz-quite, man. Sad because he saw his people all die but he loves his new life.
7.Flash/Wally West-he would provide comic relief while crackng jokes with Virgil.Hes a big flirt which often conflicts with Rouges flirty nature.
8.vixen- another sexy female who i think is cool and would be a perfect member.(tough chick, woh would argue with Hawkgirl)
heres 4 alternate members when needed
1.Steel/John Henry Irons-smart tough member who i just like. And a good friend of Supermans.
2.Storm/Oro Munroe-When needed she takes a leader like role when they take on a task.(comic book version she could kick a mans ***** then shock him with a lightning bolt.)
3.Static Shock/Virgil Hawkins-this would be very interesting dfor because being with these powerful heroes would be new and exciting for him,he'll put a shock to your system!
4.Rouge-sexy babe who would flirt with all the members and cause friction-a bit of an outsider cause she cant touch (comic book version)
I hope you guys like this team as much as i do. in choosing this team i looked for my favorite maverl and DC characters who would fit my team.
JohnStewart-GL
01-17-2002, 12:33 PM
i would want
1.Lex Luthor-He would be a rich powerful man who works more behind the scenes ti destroy the Justice League task force.(i call em task force because i put so many members)
2.Riddler/Edward Nygma-He keeps The task force guessing as to when he'll strike hes out to get Batman.
3.Hotstreak/F-stop-Once he found out Static joined the Task force he joined the gang to take Static out.
4.Joker-he still seeks to humiliate and defeat the Dark Knight for good.
5.Mystique-She is my all time favorite female villian in Mc.Shes tough ,Sexy and a shapshifter.
6.Star Saphire-a sexy villianess looking to destroy the GL corps and if the league gets in her way them too.
7.Braniac-
8.Bizarro-bizzaro crush Superman
9.Cheetah-Wonder Womans enemy.
heres there alternates.
1.MetaBreed/Ebon/Talon/Shiv/D-struct-a team of gang like thugish bang babies who Luthor pays for there services.
2.Toad/Mortimer Toynbee-Gross little mutant.
3.LiveWire-joker

Maybe even a better question than who would be on the JL. Here's my Injustice Gang:
1. DOCTOR DOOM- Definitely the most essential member of the group and probably the best supervillain ever created. (Definitely smarter than Reed Richards, too.) Leadership, brains, strategy, technology, a little bit of magic, the good Doctor has it all. Especially good as a counter for Iron Man on my JL.
2. RA'S AL GHUL- I know this is a bit of an unusual choice for a group like this, but you need someone who is an even better strategist than Batman or Captain America, and I think Ra's fits this role. He'd go along with Doom's plans in the interim until the JL was destroyed as long as he was sure Doom would protect the Earth's ecology, but he's smart and resourceful enough to stop Doom if necessary.
3. SABRETOOTH- Because you need a good strong brawler who could conceivably beat the snot out of Captain America and Batman. With fighting skills, ferocity, a healing factor, and (now) Adamantium, Sabretooth would make sure Cap and Batman get good use out of the Justice League medical plan. Agile and strong enough to take on Spider-Man afterwards too.
4. MONGUL- Because you need someone with just sheer raw power to match Superman and Wonder Woman.
5. CIRCE- It's an unwritten rule that all supervillain teams must have one sexy sorceress (look it up in the Supervillain Team Handbook if you don't believe me). Besides, with her magic, Circe's a good counter for Zatanna and Superman.
6. BRAINIAC- Right under the rule requiring a sexy sorceress is the rule requiring a robot/android. Besides, Brainiac can provide even more high-tech than Doctor Doom.
7. BILL GATES- Because you need an evil power-mad billionaire to finance the group.
No, no, just kidding about that last one. Here's number 7-
7. STAR SAPPHIRE- Nothing completes a supervillain team like a sexy woman who can make all sorts of weird stuff out of a gem. Ain't no way Spider-Man can dodge a giant, slowly collapsing green bubble.
Now, keep in mind that the egos alone in this team will make sure the breakup is worse than the Beatles, but they should last long enough to destroy the Justice League. Then the bad guys can break up and say nasty things about each other on the talk shows.

Well, judging by the posts I've read thus far, I'm out of my league here. You all know a great deal about these characters. Oooh, this thread's still active..
I know I posted one before...but now, it's time for...Toonami JL!
Goku - Cause he's one bad mother f..Shut My Mouth!
Hero Yui - Cause a guy in a big flying robot that blows stuff up is always a good addition to the team!
Bit Cloud - Cause one robot weilding manic is never enough..also provides some comic relief
Wolverine - Sure it's the crappy X-Men:E version...but it's still Wolverine.
Uncle - Forget Jackie Chan, Uncle's got magic & Smarts!
Bruce Wayne Old Fart - Cause he's smart, bitter, and will provide the leadership factor from the safety of the batcave.
Ash Ketchum....with his newest pokemon, Ryo-Ohki! - Yes, providing the little talked about "Annoying Brat who somehow saves the day even though he has no right too" role, Ash provides the transportation with his uber-cute Cabbit.
Maybe we could do a South Park Crossover, and have him die in every episode too

My Seven .. Using the cliche positions required of
all great teams & maintaining a balance of DC & Marvel
heroes :
Leader : Captain America
Brawn : Superman
Brains : Mister Fantastic , Reed Richards
Warrior : Wonder Woman
Team Rogue: Wolverine
Strategist : Batman
Jester : Spiderman
Who wouldnt love to see Reed Richards in the Batcave
trying to uncover a mystery with Batman ?
Or Spiderman hitting on Wonder Woman?
Or Wolverine & Batman teaming up to save the
rest of the team ?
Or Wonder Woman & Captain America hooking up ?

Wow this thread isn't dead yet. Anyways I'm glad to see an interest in my idea. Ever since I found out about JL and realized I would have to go through a tormentuous waiting period for the actual show I've been appeasing myself with creating my own team. So I've given my "series" a lot of thought (If I was more computer litereate I'd probably make my own site like GL:TAS.) Over the past several months I've been making up episode synopsis's while bored in classes and I've also come to the conclusion that 7 just isnt enough to appease me. That's why my series would be geared toward fanboys (or girls) who know a lot about superheroes already so I could saturate the show with my favorite guest stars.
Aside from my regular cast of:
Batman
Superman
Rogue
Spiderman
Green Lantern (Kyle Rayner)
Ice-Man
Marvel Girl (Valeria Richards)
I've already used a whole bunch of my other faves (or in some cases people who arent my faves but were too cool plot-wise to leave out) in my ideas, namely:
The Fantastic 4 (especially Mr. Fantastic)
The X-Men (especially Gambit, Pheonix, Wolvie, and Cyclops)
Iron Man
Captain America
Batgirl
Aquaman
Wonder Woman
Joker and Harley (have more appearances than any other villains)
Dr. Doom
Magneto
Apocolypse
Darkseid
Lex Luthor
Arcade
Green Goblin
Red Skull
Mad Hatter
Hulk
Myxyzptlyk & Bat-Mite
Sabretooth
Killer Croc
And a bunch more I can't remember at the moment.
I must say that creating your own show thats geared to please only you is a lot of fun. Maybe in the after-life or something I'll get the chance to make it ;)

Superman: An iconic hero that is known throughout the world. A great leader, and has the brawn and the superpowers that you would want on your side during a battle. I'd use the STAS Tim Daly interpretation.
Batman: The Dark Knight would be second in command. He's got the intensity and the seriousness needed in battle, and is extremely knowledgeable and would know how to use the abilities of the other members. He is a welcome addiction to the group.
Jonn Jonzz: His telepathic and shape-shifting abilities are great assets when needed. He's a great character to watch, so of course he would be in.
Wonder Woman: A strong and sexy woman with a warrior's spirit. Her lasso of truth would be great for interrogations, and as a weapon during battle. I'd have her be the veteran that she is in the comics rather then the rookie she is on the JL Animated Series.
Spiderman: The youthful smart ass with the web-slinging abilities and the super-strength for battle. Him talking with Batman about the losses they have suffered during their lives would be great to watch too.
Captain America: Would come up with great strategy for battles, and would be leader and the glue of the team when Superman or Batman can't. A good little solder that would fight until the very end.
Wolverine: Even more anti-authority then Batman... and maybe even more headstrong. Would have conflicts with the rest of the League, which would be entertaining to watch. A great fighter, and those claws just kick ass.
Storm: Her abilities to do cool things with the weather alone make her a good asset to the team.
Alternate members:
Flash (the JL Animated Series version)
Hulk
Knightwing
Any of the other X-Men
Any of the Green Lanterns
Swamp Thing
Maxwell Smart (a clumsy secret agent with a heart of gold would be great with the others to play off of)
Michael Knight (with Kit)
My Injustice Gang:
Lex Luthor: The founding father, with the motivation to destroy Sups (could either be the interpretation on the current JL Animated Series fighting on the front lines, or the evil U.S President that he is in the Comics, secretly leading them from a distance).
The Joker: His obsession with Batman, along with his evil insanity, would make him a great threat.
Green Goblin: Because Spiderman needs one of his major enemies to fight.
Red Skull: An enemy for Cap.
Magneto: His intelligence and mutant powers are a great threat.
Sabretooth: Wolvie needs a major enemy to play with, and he would be a great physical threat for the others.
Cheetah: She's there to represent WW's enemy list.
Mystique: A tough, sexy, shape-shifter and a thorn on the side of the two members of the X-Men in my JL.

Poison Ivy
The Riddler
