Well...I've got a half-finished 10-second amateur piece myself.

An achievement I'm sure will be spectacularly eclipsed by the very next poster.

I'm sure a large majority of people here have had a crack at it. Whether it be with Flash or with a notepad.

I've made a few animated episodes back in the day. My proudest achievement was a Dr. Katz rip-off called "Dr. Green: Lawnmower Salesman", where celebrities/comedians would come into a lawnmower store and chat it up with Dr. Green (he was called 'doctor' because he had a PhD in gardening. ;) ) I made the animation by creating generic paper cut-outs that I could re-use over and over, much like Space Ghost, and then inserting them over a background, then filming them by a camcorder.

Then there was Cool Camel, a total rip-off of Duckman except starring a baseball cap-wearing camel. I drew that with plain sheets of paper, totally in black and white. Again, filmed by a camcorder.

And last but certainly not least, Bar Boy, about three guys chatting in a tavern. It utilized the same production process as Dr. Green, only I put more effort into this one, even reaching the 22 minute marker for one episode!

......I wish I still had all those on tape.

It's my major in college. I've done some stop motion, 2d and 3d. I'm learning stuff in a lot of areas though so it's hard to just focus on the animating like I wanted to.

Delia, your Animation program sounds wonderful. We only have 3D courses at the moment, but the Animation advisor at my college says he plans to change it soon so we can try 2D and other methods. I plan to get accepted into Animation next year after I take a few classes to get my portfolio ready. So...aspiring Animation major..right here.

Oh. And I did create a Flash animation for a high school project of mine on "The Trail of Tears." It's nothing special, but the longest animation project I've done so far. Anything else is barely 1 minute long Flash segment pieces not worth mentioning.

It is an awesome program. One of my professors worked for Disney for quite some time. It's amazing to see him draw. His stories of what he's done and who he has worked with are awesome to hear.

My downfall however was transferring in. I had taken classes elsewhere and it messed up my sequencing at my current school. I started my senior project before I knew how to do any of the stuff. It was sort of backwards. I don't have a whole lot to show for myself. I learned modeling after I did rigging, and everything got spaced out so It's harder to retain the little tricks of the program. It is sort of riding a bike though. Maybe. A bike without tires.

I've dipped my hands in 2d animation, character design and layout, storyboards, modeling in 3d, modeling maquettes, rigging in 3d (oy!) and animating in 3d. Then we work with video editing and it's a lot of stuff but I've never really gotten exceptional in one thing.

I have my rigging reel with the biped and quadruped rigs.

Some people find what their strength is and run with it. I sort of do a little of everything.

I've got 3 things on Newgrounds. They're really just tests, though. They stand alone, but they don't represent concentrated, cohesive attempts at making cinema on my part.

I'm trying to get them to play but it doesn't seem to be something my computer can play. What file format are they?

I've tampered with Flash before, but I'm working with 3D models and traditional hand drawn animation.

I'm trying to get them to play but it doesn't seem to be something my computer can play. What file format are they? Macromedia Shockwave Flash (version 6, I think), .SWF... Does Newgrounds work for you in general?

I assume most other people who post stuff here will be using a Flash format as well... Firefox doesn't always play well with it, that's one thing I know.

Well

Took one semester of Flash/After affects.

Took another with Lightwave (Didn't pass I'm afraid).

And I own the personal learning edition of Maya (which I fool around with sometime).

Hopefully I'll get in on my colleges animation program and I'll get to do even more.

Yes. Yes I do animate. (http://studentpages.scad.edu/%7Ecbarne20/portfolio/itsspringy.mov) Wow, that's got a really great look to it. I guess that's what Flash can't do. Not to imply that simply using better technology makes it all look better all of a sudden. (Also dug the Parade of Human Oddities mix at the end.)

Well, I'm majoring Animation in the Art Institute of Washington and so for I was able to animate random stuff on 2D, Flash, and 3D. but I feel I need more practice on the 2D and Flash animation.

(Also dug the Parade of Human Oddities mix at the end.) Well it's mostly Flash. All the drawings you see are Flash, but for staging, camera movement, and effects, I used Adobe After Effects.

Nice to see another ICP fan.

Nice to see another ICP fan. Yyyyyyyyyyeah except I really just recognize it from WWE, as the theme for the Parade of Human Oddities. Still a cool song though.

I thought this thread was referring to Animate, our favorite space for our Pleasure and Dream.

But sadly, I haven't animated anything yet.

I don't usually animate. But I do draw a lot. I usually draw up characters I think up myself.

I did a short amount of animation back in 6th grade. It was a plot-less random bit of me against a big wall of money, and was a darned good 10 second bit, by crikey.

Back in High School, I did some traditional animation and some CGI. They were okay. I wish that I still had them on tape.

I've thrown some Flash up on Newgrounds. Most of it is a little embaressing since I made them during my high school/nerd years. I did get Daily Feature once for doing The Necromancer and I've been on the front page four times. I'm planning on starting back up my Flash animations, but I'll have to see what happens.

I've done some 2D, but it's just some walking and jumping, nothing big. I'm getting into more of the 3D programs. I get better at using 3Ds Max everyday, but I know that if I wanna pursue a career in cinema, I'll have to learn Maya. I've done one 3D short I worked on with a friend, but I have yet to find a time to render it.
