Naruto comes to the stage

The group MA (Musical Academy) will adapt the story of Kishimoto Masashi's Naruto to a theatrical stage play in Japan. Princess Tenko (Princess Tenko and the Guardians of Magic) is heading up the project. Serialized in "Weekly Shonen Jump", the 30 existing volumes of manga has sold 59 million copies. An original story will be used in the play. Tomoyuki Yara and Jun Akiyama will star. The debut performance will be held in Gotanda U-Port Kan'i Hoken Hall on May 4 next year. A show in Osaka is also planned for the 19th.

Why would anyone do a play of an Anime.

OK, why would anyone make a PROFESSIONAL play of an anime. You can't get the right angles, no cool moves, or even the crazy hair to stand up. Can you imagine doing Trowa Barton's hair or Goku's hair for a professional production?

I feel torn, on the one hand I'd like to see it just to see if it's as bad as I'd expect....

on the other hand people thought that Mel Brooks was nuts (well... he is nuts, but in the good way) for making the producers into a broadway musical.... until it became one of the biggest shows ever to hit NYC.

Hopefully, the characters in Naruto: the Musical will actually resembles the characters in the series, unlike Inu-Yasha: the Musical.

Seriously. I can just see "Shadow Clone Jutsu" being a bunch of Naruto looking ice skaters coming out and skating around the original in patterns. Kind of scary...but even more funny. XD

Haku does a final spin and effortlessly lands, bowing to the audience as the latter claps and both make a beeline for the exits while the Fuccons continue laughing manically*

A Naruto musical...that seems like it will be amusing.
