Does anybody out there have any idea who supplied the voice for Spike the bulldog in the latter Tom and Jerry (1950 thru 1957) cartoons? I was thinking it may have been Daws Butler, but I've never heard Daws use this voice with any other character. Any ideas????

I will only speak for (most of?) the widescreen T&J shorts in which Spike ap-
peared. He in these shorts sounds,to me,like he was enacted by Doug Young.
Why, you ask? When I hear Spike in said shorts, intermittent predecessions
of "Doggie Daddy" and "Chopper" to mind come.

Well, Doug Young WAS Doggie Dadddy, but Vance Colvbig was Chopper, and Daws Butler was Spike (the latter form what I've read).
IMO that "Jimmy Durante" sounding voice sounds a lot better coming out of Doggie Daddy's "schonzzollla" than out of the flatter nosed Spike.:p
