Anyone likes this show? I know it's like one or two yrs old of release, but still I got the first episode yesterday, and I'm still watching it, Look interesting I remenber that I first discovered it through an article of the Newtype Magazine.
Hate it? Love it? Find it ok? Tell me about the show watching experience:)

I love this show, I thought for a moment no one else really knew about it. Its one of those sweet card captor like shows though but still good. Nice plots. The characters are easy to enjoy. I watched it from Anime network on demand until I had to get rid of my cable box  but the episodes went pretty far and I loved it. Its a good series.

I was thinking of renting this series soon since it looks like a fun show. Guess I'll give it a shot. The thinpak boxset was REALLY cheap at Best Buy; maybe I'll just buy it.

It's a great series, and at the price ADV's put out the budget boxset, totally worth it. It's got great action, great characters, good music, good pacing/direction and nice animation, so as long as you don't have an issue with the concept, the rest of it's taken care of.

It's a great prequel to Chobits, but you have to know the anime and manga to catch it.
I highly recommend Angelic Layer. A good title for the whole family.

Isn't Angelic Layer like a Pokemon ripoff, only instead of monsters it's robots right?

What gave you that idea? About the only thing it has in common is the kids are fighting by proxy, which isnt exactly something Pokemon created.
Really, the only thing you need to know is that it's made by CLAMP. CLAMP stuff = must see. Always.

Well I saw an interesting comment about it on the Anime Encyclopedia which I'll put up here...
"This anime based on a Shonen Ace manga by Card Captors-creators CLAMP has all the appearance of a game tie-in, just without a real game to tie into."

Robots? Dolls is more like it. But I guess in the sense that the kids are battling each other but not physically and using the dolls, like pokemon uses the pokemon you could say its similar in that way. But a rip off... please. Angelic Layer is more original than pokemon which seems to be a ripoff of other shows.
The music is good its just a really sweet show. I was hoping someday CN would pick it up or even 4kids, that'd be better. Everyone who's thinking of buying the box set should defenitly get it.

This would be a great Toonami/Miguzi show. The characters are great, there's a decent amount of intrigue through the first half of the series to keep you interested in the back-stage plot along with the regular fight tournaments. Cool battle dolls and nice animation. Even its distant association with the atrocity that is Chobits can't sour this sweet story.
It's not an outstanding anime, but a great time-waster and a must for CLAMP fans.

Actually, the shows kinda don't follow the manga continuity (well, Angelic Layer completely breaks with the manga in more than a few ways while Chobits technically keeps the hints in but a lot more subtly.) However, the manga are a bit more explicitly interelated in more than a few ways. Chobits is sort of the "sequel" to Angelic Layer in the manga continuity, though it's not made clear until later on in the Chobits manga that that is the case.

How is this anime connected to Chobits? In mean what does the Chobits manga states that makes Angelic layer, it's prequel?
Keep in mind, I never read the Manga of niether of these two anime, even though I own the dvd's

When he dies, you see several of the characters from Angelic Layer (Mssaki especially) at his funeral, crying over his death.
It's not really a TRUE sequel to Angelic Layer, though, so much as a new story in the same universe.

I saw one or two "Angelic Layer" episodes at a fan showing some years ago, and was very impressed. Unfortunately, I've never really had a chance to watch the series, which I really regret.
I know ADV was actively marketing it to TV programmers a year or so ago, but apparently found no takers in this country. A real shame, because its tech aspect would have made it perfect for "Anime Unleashed" (before Comcast gutted TechTV), and I would certainly watch it if it ever turned up on Miguzi or 4KidsTV SatAM, or anywhere else.

I don't get to talk about anime I rent very often so this is a treat.
I now have the first dvd to watch. I chose this mostly as a guess to see what it was like. I love the animation and the characters are fun and interesting. It takes a little getting used to the idea that Hikaru isn't real, but the fight action is fun to watch. So far it's been a great choice.

It's boxsetted at an immensely great price. No extras, but at 39 bucks (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=7303081&type=product&id=1480919), it's a steal. If I hadn't bought the single disc versions, I'd get it (however, I'm glad I got the V1 w/ box - I love the shirt "included" with it, especially since they set it up so you could pick the size you got by entering an online code for a free shirt.)

If ADV had dubbed Angelic Layer like did Princess Tutu - IE, really slowed down and taken time, I think it'd have gotten on the air somewhere. The show itself is really superb; it just needed better dub direction/production.

I got the artbox too late to get the shirt. :crying: And since I really, really like extras, I decided to buy the single volumes instead of the boxset. Luckily, ADV had 3 volumes for less than $10 (Vol. 1 + box for $9, Vol. 3 & 6 for $7 each) while Right Stuf had the rest of the volumes for $5.

I didn't know about the connections between Angelic Layer and Chobits. I've not read the AL manga, but I did read the Chobits manga. Unfortunately, the translations of the manga got on my nerves so I sold my set. I may have to peek next time I go to the bookstore to see some of the stuff mentioned.
As for the anime Angelic Layer, I liked it well enough, though not as well as Cardcaptor Sakura. Misaki-chii's seiyuu, ENOMOTO (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/people.php?id=696) Atsuko (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/people.php?id=696), at times sounded like an adult woman trying to sound like a young girl. The overall story wasn't as compelling to me. Plus, I'm really not a shounen fight-series kind of fan, even one with a shoujo twist.
That said, I did enjoy the anime though. :)
