This is the talkback thread for How Homer Simpson Became Omar Shamshoon (http://news.toonzone.net/article.php?ID=7618).
Duff-brand juice. I'd love to see that in America. XD

even when i made the thread about it it was already old news.
you guys are slackin' ;)
Eh, the one site reported it first. We just provided a link.
Good read. It's interesting to see how other countries respond to localizations like this.
The Arabic dialogue laid over existing shows is actually fairly faithful to the original script. Nothing seems censored, but episodes such as those featuring Homer's gay roommate or the visit to the Duff brewery are unlikely to be chosen for translation.
So I guess that means no Arabic Weird Al Yankovic. He probably could have done it too. He learned one of his songs in Japanese and it sounds great.

But what about the graphical parts of the show? Are they just going to slap something over the beer can so that it reads "juice" instead of "beer" or are they just going to let it slide?
Egypt does have a slight animation production business, but that is not very strong. It's not like in the UK or North America where it's a free market.

When did Homer have a gay roommate? And what did Marge have to say about it?

Apparently former. Someone posted a clip here a while back which (although not related to a beer edit) showed an Arabic school note instead of an English one. (That same clip said that the Duff will be a soda.)
When did Homer have a gay roommate? And what did Marge have to say about it?Perhaps they're talking about the Season 2 episode where Homer had that gay assistant who got him a really good job, then left right after planting a nice fat one.

There's also that one where he went to live with 2 roommates.

Three guys in a condo or something like that I think they mean. The one where homer goes to live with those guys, because of a Issue he and Marge had.

I find this quite amusing and unfortunate at the same time. Changing Homer's beer to soda and his family being Muslim instead of Christian really diminishes one aspect of what makes the Simpsons who they are. I bet any scene involving the family at Church or Reverend Lovejoy will be cut out entirely.
Does this really mean that the Simpsons was "butchered" or just trimmed around the edges? I really understand how Sandmonkey is feeling when he raved that changing around the family's lifestyle is ruining its true image.
Now I know why anime fans in japan find it amusing when the anime broadcast over here is mangled.

Something like that. It's 'Three Gays Of The Condo'- a title take-off on the movie 'Three Days Of The Condor':

BTW: 'Condo' is the ep which beat out 'Jurassic Bark' for the 'Best Half-Hour Animated' Emmy. I think I shall never forgive the Television Academy for that.

For the record: Arabians/Muslims don't allow beers, smokes, and the bible. Something like that a professor of mine told me

I have always wondered what goes on with our shows in other nations. Of course this one was a given due to extreme cultural differences.
