View Full Version : is this a "Shadow" animated series? (screenshots inside)

A couple years ago, a SHADOW Yahoo Group had two video files posted that looked like clips from an animated Shadow series. Both were only about 10 seconds long and only one had sound, which included a line of dialogue that sounded like Japanese. (The audio isn't that great, so it's hard to tell for sure.) Nobody in the group knew where the clips originated from, and I've always wanted to find out if there was a Shadow series (maybe overseas?) or if it's something else with just a similar design to the main character.
I was finally able to make a few screenshots from each file, and was hoping somebody here might be able to identify it. The Japanese(?) dialogue and design of the Shadow-looking character seems to suggest an anime, but I wasn't really sure whether to post this here or in the Anime Forum. Any ideas?

Hmm... looks kind of European to me...

Interesting. Never would have thought of that. Guess I haven't seen any European cartoons to know what they look like.

We've absolutely no idea WHAT nationality it is. Just from those pictures it looks like something made by TMS.
Interesting to note: the dialogue likely isn't Japanese. I've seen Eastern European-speaking peoples around the University campus and...quite frankly...I've been listening to subbed anime so much that ALL foreign languages sound Japanese to me. This probably sounds monumentally stupid but it goes to show the ears CAN be fooled.

The clips to do have a similar feel to B:TAS, which I know TMS did a lot of work on.
Are there any other animation boards I can post this on in my search to uncover where they come from?

Try Keyframe Online or the Big Cartoon Database. They've had plenty of experience with obscure cartoons.

It's Bob Morane, a canada/france co-production based on a series of french adventure novels by Henri Vernes. Here (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0178127/)'s the IMDB page but there's not much info.

There's at least some episode titles here (http://www.coolfrenchcomics.com/bobmorane2.htm) (scroll down).
And more information about the general story here (http://www.coolfrenchcomics.com/bobmorane.htm).

Now I really want to see this show. I like the look of it. The characters have a sort of Bruce Timm-type feel to them. But of course, it's probably only available overseas. Not even Amazon Canada has it, which would have been nice since Canada is DVD Region 1, also.

Woah, I loved that show.
And yes, it does have a Batman: TAS feeling to it. It was a great show. Didn't get enough recognition though.
An excellent plot, but I only remember some of it at the moment. The show left off with a bit of a cliffhanger actually. Never concluded.
Ended in '98 I think.
