If you look under each poster's name and avatar (small picture), it shows the month & year they joined this incarnation of the board. I had posted to the preceding Perl-based board for roughly a year prior to its launch. Jon, Jack, and others can fill you in on other details...

I've been a member since August of 2001, but had stumbled upon this forum around June.

I've been here a long time, I was around in the pre-Toon Zone days. I think I finally pinpointed 1998 as my joining date, and back then the board was on a host called Beseen Bulletin Boards, (I think that's the name of it). The board had an image of Daffy Duck in a funny hat at the top (maybe from "Beanstalk Bunny"?) and a background with a Sylvester sketch done in red pencil...I still have the image, one of these days I may use it for something on my site. I always wondered what happened to a lot of the old posters there. I came to ask a question about something LT-related, and I was so impressed with the answers and comments that I hung around, and was overwhelmed by the nice, knowledgeable people, and learned that I wasn't the only person in the universe who was a Looney Tunes fanatic. I probably wouldn't know half of what I do about cartoons without this board and folks like you.

Why did the webmaster change it? I mean I'm glad he did because this board is a whole lot more interesting. I'm just curious, that's all.

You'd have to ask Jon on that one, but we've had a number of re-incarnations. Perhaps the main reason we changed servers a couple of times was the lack of security on those free boards, we kept getting pranksters who impersonated other posters and caused bigtime trouble (I'm still mad as 'chuck', our most persistent prankster.) That was pretty much remedied for good when Jon joined his page with Toon Zone, and as I say, you'd have to ask him how that all worked out. :bosko:

Yeah, the TTTP jumped around between a few free message board services in our early days. First, BeSeen and then Freeboards before we finally moved here to Toon Zone. I don't even think Freeboards is in business anymore.

Anyways, things went smoothly for awhile in those early days. But... There was a severe lack of security, like Matthew said, prankster(s) discovered they could easily create vulgar messages under either fake user names or impersonate TTTP members. Believe us, this current Toon Zone board is A LOT better than those crappy free boards.

The saddest thing about those early prankster attacks, especially on BeSeen, they were so constant that we lost many knowledgeable, regular visitors who have never returned.

I wonder what happened to some of those folks. Most of the people who post here now joined within the Toon Zone days, Thad's been around a while, I have, of course Jon has, Jack joined a long time ago too, and Andrew Gilmore, though he hasn't been here lately, was there for the free board stuff. That prank crap hit us hard though, we lost a lot of interesting people. Maybe they'll come back someday.

Me, I've been here since just before the Mil-Looney-Um Marathon of 1999-2000.

For a time I was the one who would post what was on for Bugs & Daffy and the Acme Hour until a switch in work schedule kept me from continuing.

Mostly since then, I have been in lurker mode, occasionally surfacing briefly before returning to hermit-dom.

I've been here since close to the beginning, in early '98. I remember BeSeen and FreeBoards quite well, and yes, ToonZone is a lot better. And I too remember some of the veterans from the old days. Probably the most prolific poster who doesn't post anymore is Kevin McCorry (I know Martin was asking about him just last week). Others who used to post a lot and now don't were Greg Method (who usually had some cool facts), Greg/Steve Carras (who unfortunately typed so quickly every other word came out misspelled, and his posts were often difficult to follow), and more that I can't think of at the moment. And....woops, time for Toon Heads!

I've been a member for almost two years. My first screen name was "LooneyThad" (anyone remember that???). Jon discovered me around early 2000, when I sent him an e-mail saying that the new T&J DVD was censored, and most of you guys thought I was crazy, but just take a look at the DVD, and you'll see I'm not...

I then changed my username to my original name, and it's been that way for about a year. BTW, I'm going to check out the TTTP archives now! :)
