1990s cartoons technical question

Okay, this is just a technical question that I've been curious about for years.

Cartoons from 1990s that were done in cels, were they shot in 16mm, 35mm, or other format?

If they were theatrical, they were shot in 35 mm. For television, 16 mm.

...although sometimes 35mm would be used for TV as well. It was mostly shows produced in Japan that traditionally used 16mm, but even with them 35 started being phased in over the years.
