Who is your fave bad guy and fave good guy, and why? My fave bad guy would have to be the cave troll, because, he is just cool, and there was only one of him not like all the other bad guys. And, he was hard to beat. Fave good guy, Legolas, man, he is cool! Nuff said.

YEAH!!! Legolas was too cool for school! He was so cool I went to a bunch of fansites about the actor who played him, Orlando Bloom. He's a 25-year-old englishman. He really has short dark hair and brown eyes. He's going to be in Black Hawk Down.:o

Everyone seemed to like Legolas when I went to see it, he was my favorite hero too. He reminded me of the sniper in Saving Private Ryan, who was my favorite character in that movie as well.

As for villain, maybe Saruman, maybe the Uruk-Hai.

I gess the old adage "less is more" is really true. Legolas is turning into the Boba Fett of LOTR. The cool minor character that everyone loves.

People in the theatre enjoyed Strider. I loved Strider in the book, and I still liked him here, but they sorta made him into some kind of pretty boy heartthrob for the girls. Which doesn't do anything for me, since I'm a guy.

I also thought Legolas came off cool with his clutch arrow shooting. :)

Frodo came off pretty wimpy. But then, he was like that in the book, too.

Gotta love that huge CGI orc (ogre?) and fire demon BALROG! Also Predator III...you know Predator, right?

Yeah! Legolas kicked ass....and so did the fire demon....fire :D

I liked Legolas, too! But maybe that's just because I really like elves...^_^;;

I don't really have a favorite bad guy. Besides, even if I did, I can't remember all the names!

Legolas is my favriote character, loved how he used the arrows and how quickly he fired one after another.

The best bad guy was Balrog, he just looked so freaking cool.

Gandalf and Legolas tie as my favorites, followed by Aragorn.

Favorite villain goes to the Balrog.

Favorite hero - either Legolas (for obvious reasons) or Sam (I just like his puppy dog-like loyalty).

Favorite villain - either Balrog or Sarumon.

I'm going to butcher this so bad...

My fave good guy was the elf w/ the bow and arrows. Legolas, right?

And my fav bad guy was the one guy who Strider fought at the end. He stabbed him, and the big guy just pulled the sword through himself. The orc leader, or something.

Favorite Hero? Tie between Legolas and Aragorn, despite the fact that Aragorn tries to kill Frodo and take the ring.

Favorite Villain? Another tie, between the Balrog, and the Ringwraiths.

Refresh my memory...but when did Aragron try to kill Frodo and take the ring? I thought the one who did that was the guy who looked like Aragron......the name escapes me..

Boromir. That wasn't Aragorn. It was Boromir. And a damn good scene too.

I'll put down Gandalf, Boromir, and Frodo, because they were the only ones that seemed perfectly translated from the book and they had most of the focus of the movie. Legolas and the rest were fine, but they really haven't DONE anything yet. I do expect great things from Sam though.

Favorite enemy... the big freaking eye! And the Nazgul weren't too shabby either.

It was at the end before the Orcs come, and kill him. He was chasing Frodo around the woods, acting all crazy, and trying to get the ring. Maybe I got the names mixed up...

Yep, names got mixed up. That was Boromir not Aragorn.

Legolas did come off as pretty cool, but my fave character from the books is Samwise. I just like it that he is loyal despite the fact that he's scared as heck.

Pippin was pretty popular with the crowd, since a lot of his lines were funny. Examples are "I'm hungry" and the second breakfast discussion. I liked him too. Heck, I like pretty much all of the characters.

I vote for the Balrog for best villain.

My favorite good guy had to be Boromir because of his refusal to go down in that end battle against the orcs and his voicing as he died of his loyalty to and acceptance of Aragorn as his King.

Favorite bad guy: Saruman. There was definitely something frightening about the guy. The ease with which he shifted his allegiance to Sauron and the manner in which he wielded his power was too creepy.

am i the only one who's favorite good guy was frodo? he did alot in that movie and was very likable. legolas was cool, though, he reminded me of zelda or something. and he handled that bow and arrows really nicely.

my favorite badguy was that big ork cave monster thing with the club. that was cool as hell. I loved when he smashed stuff w/ that big club, it was cool.

I do have a question though, why were the elves human size? was that how it was in the books?

I was actually very impressed with Wood's performance as Frodo. There were a lot of great performance in the movie, but his ranks among the top. Frodo was very likable.

I think the elves are supposed to be close to human height or taller. Or maybe that's completely wrong. To be honest, I don't remember why I think that or where I might have heard that since I haven't read the books. Was their height maybe mentioned in the movie somewhere?

Maxie might come by and correct me...but as I remember, Hobbits were the shortest, dwarfs were a bit taller, elves were bigger still, and then there were men. But I think that it never seemed like there was much of a difference between elves and men. It seemed to me that the film represented the books well. We saw Elrond and Legolas, who were about human-sized but not particularly well-built, and then Boromir and Aragorn who were burlier than the elves. My dad asked about the elf height too, but it seemed right to me. Tolkien's elves are different in size from your stereotypical, Santa-type elves.

Well, the Elves of Middle-Earth are definitely not Keebler sized, if that's what you want to know. ;)

The overall impression that you get from the books is that they roughly the same size and build as humans. They are immortal and far more impervious to disease and accident than men are; elves apparently regard humans as remarkably weak and fragile. Besides this physical superiority, elves excel artistically, especially in music and poetry, as well as having a mastery of whatever "magic" is at work in Middle Earth. But aside from their striking physical beauty, there apparently isn't much on the surface to distinguish a man from an elf. There is no mention that I can recall of "pointed ears," for instance.

Tolkien himself describes elves as the equivalent of "unfallen" humans--the kind of creature with all the gifts and powers that he believed Adam possessed while still dwelling in God's good graces. So, it's probably best to think of elves as "humans plus."

In short, they are your typical Dungeons 'N Dragons type of elves.

I have to say, my fav. "good" guy is Mithrandir.
Bad guy, Gollum...(he creeps me out!)

I really liked Wood's performance as Frodo as well, he did a great job. However in terms of coolness he coudlnt match up to Legolas and Aragorn.

Now Gollum... I loved his voice, it couldnt have been more perfect. He's gonna have a huge part to play in The Two Towers and The Return of the King, it should be cool.

Hmm. Probably right. I mean, I'm pretty sure D&D got the template straight outta Tolkien. Before him, elves really were Keebler-sized!
