Someone posted a set of pictures over at sonicanime.net's forum, which we are debating about where the heck this came from. The thing is, Sega likes using FMV's for video games, and judging from the trailer released, the game will be using FMVs.

So.... Here it is.

Could it be an intro movie for the game?

I'm surprised they're not using the Sonic X style for this anime/game.

I'm surprised they're not using the Sonic X style for this anime/game.I dunno, kinda looks like a merger of Sonic X and Sonic Battle art style to me.

that style is still the same as the concept art for the game, sonic riders is using a new redesign for sonic, not as big as the original vs dreamcast but still different.

i wish it'd be a new anime since i'm not too fond of sonic x but i don't think so, i think the game most likely has normal cgi FMV but this could be from a comercial, it is common for game comercials to be animated, they do bring a lot of rumors when people in other places see the screen shots of the comercial but then find out there is no animated series.

Well I did find out where this originated from. It was on a clip promo for Sonic Riders over at Sonic Europe's site. Still, one can hope, right? ;)

I wonder if they'll change Sonic's design in SX to fit his newer style? it'd be weird having the old style.

(That was my first thought)

Actually this from Sonic Riders intro. You can see it in IGN along with some character artwork.

Actually this from Sonic Riders intro. You can see it in IGN along with some character artwork. It is said to be produced for the game, but it isn't 100% confirmed. A Friend of mine is going to get more information on it tomorrow (or well, today).

Here's what we do know so far. (This is from the ANN post I made)

It's probably not unusual for Production I.G. to be involved with animations for a game, but the fact that Sega's last news about TMS becoming part of Sega, makes this animation seem odd.

According to Mana who owns Animal Trail(A SonicFan site), a Sonic Riders animation produced possibly for the game, was animated by Production I.G. The information was released in a magazine done by Production I.G.

She'll be getting more information on this tomorrow once she obtains the magazine in question. So hopefully we'll find out more of what's going on with this.

Staff confirmed of the animation -

Character Designer: Kyoji Asano
Director: Itsuro Kawasaki

I managed to watch it. Decent overall, although it felt like what I'd see if I drank one too many kool-aids. I personally love the character artworks the most. Best art of Sonic thus far.

Nice way of adding some Flair into the Sonic style (the harshly shaded "background" body parts is a bit offputting at times, however)

I've seen images of Amy in the game, but she's not in the video..odd.

Although it looks nice, man was that anmated intro so damn sterile. For a franchise like Sonic, this didn't seem very intense or fast. I hope that the game doesn't reflect what I saw.

...Buuuut on the second time it doesn't seem too bad.
