Dark Jedi Council: Darkest Empire

Star Wars: Episode III: Count Dooku, "Twice the pride, double the fall."
Chapter One: Choices
Then he felt death grip him and a second later he felt alive.
He opened his eyes and saw he was in a lighted hallway, but he saw with his own eyes, not the infrared screens he used for seeing the outside world for nearly two decades.
Where was he? He asked himself. Then he saw he reflection in the metallic door in front of him.
He was younger, as he was before…
Could it be…
He then realized where he was and when…
He had to hurry…
He made his into the chancellor chambers and onto the huge ledge corner where Jedi Master Mace Windu had Supreme Chancellor Palpatine cornered with his violet lightsaber.
He listened to them both asking for his help. Saying exactly what they had said before. Both ignoring due processing and going for the kill as Palatine shot out lightening from his fingers are Mace advanced with his lightsaber deflecting the lightening.
So, Anakin made his choice, he lit his blue lightsaber and immediately decapitated Palpatine head from his body.
Instantly, Palpatine’s body exploded with dark force energy, knocking both Anakin and Mace onto the floor.
As they stood up, Mace turned to Anakin and said, "I told you to stay at the temple. But anyway, good job Anakin. For a second, I thought you were going to side Palpatine."
Anakin responded, "Master Windu, I thought you knew me better than that."
Mace said, "Well you have saved my life and earned my trust in you. Also, you have helped to save the Republic today." He then look around as the mess and dead bodies, including three Jedi as he continued, "Well we better contact the Council, there is a lot to clean up and we to look at Palpatine personal computer files. I am sure we suffer reprisals from Palpatine’s allies once he death is publicly known. I want to know who those allies are as soon as possible."
"Agreed," Anakin responded as he began to carry the fallen Jedi corpses and position them in a more respectable manner.
Meanwhile, Mace sat at Palpatine’s desk, while he began to carefully hack into Palpatine protect files.
Three hours later, over a dozen Jedi were in Palpatine’s office, going over the entire office and chamber areas, searching for any possible clue, or Sith object that Palpatine may have had there.
In all of Anakin’s life, he never did figure out where Palpatine had hidden such items. However, he chose remain silent because it wouldn’t hurt for the Jedi to look, they might get lucky and find something of value that could help them.
Also, some of the Jedi were starting to physically remove the memory hard-drives to Palpatine’s computer, so they could be more thoroughly analyze back at the Jedi Temple.
As they did this, Anakin requested from Mace, "Master Windu, if you’ll excuse me. I have to check on something."
Mace responded, "Sure Anakin. You have done enough for today as is."
With permission to leave, Anakin heading outside, to his Jedi starfighter and straight for Padme’s home.
Twenty minutes later, Anakin docked his starfighter on the steps to Padme’s appointment.
As R2-D2 was ejected from it’s socket on the starfighter and onto the step, Anakin order, "R2, stay with the ship."
R2 whistled an affirmative in response.
As he walked into to the living area of Padme’s home, Padme got up from a couch and walked over to him, "Anny, what are you doing here?"
Anakin stared at her in silence for several moments, while looking her over.
Yes, she was pregnant, but except for her round stomach, her pregnancy had fortunately not diminished her beauty even the slightest bit.
He had to her to touch, to make sure she was real.
He reached out and touched her face as she asked, "Anakin, are you alright?"
He then immediately hugged Padme deeply as he whisper into her, "Yes. I couldn’t be better."
He held her like that for over a minute. Then let go of her.
Anakin then asked her, "I have a question. If you have twins, a boy and a girl, what names would you give them?"
Padme curiously questioned, "What kind of question is that? Do you use your force power to find out I am having twins?
"Just answer my question." Anakin requested.
Padme responded, "Well if it was a boy, I would name him Luke. If it was a girl, I would name her Leia."
Anakin eyes widened slightly. ‘Leia… Leia… So, she was Luke’s sister…’ Anakin began to chuckle a little. ‘So that’s where she inherited her stubbornness from.’ He thought.
Padme noticed Anakin’s eyes and commented, "Is there something wrong with those names?"
"No, their fine names." Anakin replied.
Later that night, Anakin woke up from beside Padme. He decided he needed to get a glass of water.
He then stood up and began to walk towards the kitchen area of the apartment.
A he passed by the living, he walked right something that caught the corner of his eyes.
Anakin turned around and saw the spirit of Jedi Master Quigon Jinn.
Quigon spoke, "Hello Anakin. Or should I say, Vader…"
Anakin stated flatly, "Hello Quigon, it has been a long time."
"A lot longer for you, than for me it would seem." Quigon responded.
"What of it? Are you going berate me for actions that technically never happen?" Anakin asked.
Quigon quipped, "Not at all. Though technically it did happen, even though it hasn’t happened here… Yet..."
"I made the right choice this time." Anakin stated in his defense.
Quigon responded, "Did you now. Anakin, you going to have learn that sometimes there are no right choices. Just a bad one and a worse one. You may realize it, but you may have made a worse choice, than if you sided with Palpatine."
"What do you mean?" Anakin asked."
"That going against destiny comes at a high price." Quigon answered.
Anakin responded, "I killed one Sith Lord to save the galaxy from a coming darkness. I don’t see the price being that high."
Quigon stated, "Did you save galaxy... You don’t know that. You may have may things far worse. More so, the very fact you don’t realize this, makes the tragedy even worse."
Anakin finally remembered one the main reasons why as Darth Vader, he hated and loathed the Jedi. They never, ever gave you a straight answer. Especially when it dealt with events that affected the fate of the galaxy as a whole.
The Jedi loved to dance around the answer. And this was one of the major reasons Vader had blamed the Jedi for leading to the death of Padme and him ending up in that black suit.
He went to Yoda first. Yoda had said to the effect, "Let her die."
The he tried to reason with Mace, while he was fighting Palpatine. That didn’t work out to well.
And finally he even tried to reason with Obiwan on Mustafar as to why he viewed the Jedi as his enemy. For the effort, he ended up losing an arm, both his legs and being burned alive from head to toe. To the extent, as Vader, he never regretted killing Obiwan aboard the Death Star.
The only thing he regretted about that situation was that Obiwan was able to trick him into martyring his former teacher in front of his son, Luke Skywalker. That and the regret that he had inadvertently killed Luke’s adopted parents, Owen and Beru Lars. There was no way he could have known those two droids would have wind up with the Lars. Nevertheless, he was glad that Luke had not been accidentally killed as well.
After all that, and losing Padme, it was a real miracle that he remained mostly sane, while being trapped in that black suit for nearly two decades
And Palpatine, even for all his evil, always gave Vader a direct answer, even when he was Anakin. Though he was angry when found out about Luke Skywalker and that Palpatine had lied to him about him killing Padme. But all things considered, he still respected Palpatine even to this day. Thought he did kill him to save his son, but he still respected him.
Anakin flatly demanded, "Get to the point already, Quigon."
Quigon stated, "Alright. By turning your back on your destiny, you have set the course a great darkness to take than if Palpatine had ruled as Emperor of the Galactic Empire. It is your destiny is to become Darth Vader."
"No! It isn’t!" Anakin yelled.
"We shall see," Quigon said as he vanished from Anakin’s sight.
From their bed, Padme asked, "Are you alright, Anny?"
Anakin, realizing that his outburst had awoken Padme, responded, "Yes, Padme I am fine."
Anakin then went back to bed with Padme, deciding that he didn’t need a glass of water after all.
Later that night, near morning twilight, high in orbit above Coruscant, a single one-man Jedi space-starfighter headed towards the planet’s orbit in it’s landing approach for the Jedi Temple.
Obiwan had already transmitted his clearance codes for landing, so that would not be a problem.
Obiwan had immediately rushed back to Coruscant as fast as he could, when Mace had contacted him that Chancellor Palpatine was Lord Sidious and that Anakin had to kill Palpatine to save Mace’s life. He left his clone army battalions, ARC troopers and space forces behind to catch up to him in a day or so.
Obiwan was not worried, he trusted Commander Cody to handle clean up on Utapau. It should not be a problem.
Though Obiwan was sure that Palpatine was using Anakin the entire time, hope to turn him to the darkside of the force. He also knew that Palpatine had been a close friend to Anakin, even to the point that Palpatine had the Senate appointment him onto the Jedi Council, against the Council’s wishes.
He hoped that these events did not have any ill effects on Anakin’s mind.
Author’s Notes
The thing I never liked about these Vader/Anakin get a second chance fanfic is that focus solely Anakin, which is not a bad thing. However, they are usually not plotted out beyond a few chapters, with no definable end.
These fanfics do not focus on the repercussions that Palatine’s death would have on the Jedi Order. But this is where my fanfic steps in. As will be seen in the Jedi Council meeting in the next chapter.
As with the title of my fanfic, you can already guess where I am heading.
Please note that Palpatine does not possess anyone in this fanfic, because that would be to easy a route to take.
Except for being a rough draft, I have already completed this fanfic in six chapters, this being the first chapter. It is 34 pages long, not counting author’s notes.
My fanfic has a beginning, middle and end, which is a little open ended.
I hope you enjoy my fanfic. Compliments and Constructive criticism are welcome. Just please no flames.

Dark Jedi Council: Darkest Empire
By, Paul Cousins
Chapter Two: Justifications
The next morning, the Jedi Council met in it’s chamber in the Jedi Temple to discuss the immediate event that had transpired the previous night.
Instead of wearing his usual black cloths, Anakin was a brown robe over white shirt, pants and boots. He was not even wearing his black glove over his robotic skeletal hand. Instead, he let his golden colored hand show ungloved.
In addition, he demeanor was much more calmer as he sat in his council chair.
These changes in both personality and clothes raised a few eyebrows of curiosity among the council members, but no said anything.
Most of the Jedi Council members were communicating via hologram into the chamber, only Mace Windu, Obiwan and Anakin were actually on Coruscant for the meeting.
Yoda was still on Kashyyyk, helping with the wookiees and the clone troops under his command with clean up. Most of the rest of the Jedi Council members were off world in similar situations.
Most of the news discussed up to this point were basic reports on how the various Jedi off world were doing on their various missions.
Fortunately, all the Jedi were handling their various missions and assignments well as could be expected, with no real problems.
Then Yoda stated. "On to another, more pressing matter, now."
Mace turn to Anakin and delicately said, "Anakin, please don’t take this the wrong way. Since you saved my life and killed Palpatine, all questions about your loyalty have been laid to rest. But since Palpatine was the one who had the Senate appoint you on this Council, we are asking you to voluntarily give up you seat to this Council."
Everyone braced for the worst.
Instead, Anakin calmly stood-up from his seat and politely stated, "As you wish masters. I look forward to the day when I return this council as a master myself."
With that said, Anakin turned and walking out of the chamber.
Shock silence reign in the Jedi Council for almost a minute, then Yoda spoke up, "Took that way too well, he did."
Everyone in the room remembering the tantrum Anakin threw in that very room just a few days ago.
Obiwan stood up from his seat and said, "I’ll go talk with him."
Mace responded, "That would be a wise thing to do."
Less than a minute later Obiwan caught up Anakin going down the steps that lead to the Jedi Council’s chamber.
Obiwan asked, "Anakin, wait up. Is something the matter?"
Anakin turned to face Obiwan quietly said, "No."
Obiwan responded, "Alright. But what is with the sudden change in clothes?"
Anakin stated, "I got tried of wearing black." ‘After two decades,’ he thought. He then continued, "And I just wanted to make a change for the better."
Obiwan questioned, "But what’s with this sudden change in your personality? Don’t get me wrong, I like it. I just want to know."
Anakin said, "It’s just I have had a lot on my mind, Obiwan."
Obiwan commented, "Anakin, I do believe that is the first time you have called me Obiwan instead of master in a long time."
"As I said. I just have a lot on my mind." Anakin answered.
"Like what?" Obiwan questioned.
"My mother." Anakin answered.
"How is your mother?" Obiwan innocently asked.
"She’s dead." Anakin flatly responded.
That caught Obiwan completely off guard as he calmly asked, "How did she die?"
Anakin answered, "She died a year ago. The sand people captured her and tortured her to death. I promised her so long ago that I would can back for her and instead she died in my arms."
"I am so sorry she was murder." Obiwan said.
"Don’t be. I had my revenge on them." Anakin stated.
"The Jedi don’t commit revenge." Obiwan commented.
Anakin dryly responded, "I did. After my mother died, I left the tent she was in and slaughter every man, woman and child in that village. I did in anger and to be honest, I don’t regent it one bit."
Obiwan stared at Anakin in disbelief. Anakin had just admitted to him that he had not only acted in anger, but he had murdered innocent people in anger as well. Both of which forbid by the Jedi Code. He barely uttered out. "We must to the council immediately."
Anakin stopped him by saying, "There is no need for a scandal. It would merely hurt the Jedi Order as a whole. Besides, I am planning to leave the Order soon anyway."
"What?!" Obiwan.
Anakin answered, "As I said, I plan to leave the Jedi Order. Being a Jedi is no longer as important to me as it once was. As soon as the Separatists leaders are captured and this business with the Sith is settled, I am going to leave the Order. Don’t worry about me, I’ll be fine. Remember I am an expert space pilot. Worst case scenario, I’ll go back to pod-racing."
Obiwan chuckled as that last bit of comment as he asked, "But why do you want to leave the Order?"
Anakin unclipped his lightsaber and held in his right hand as he soberly said to Obiwan, "This tool, this lightsaber would have bought my mother’s freedom ten times over. We live in a palace. The Jedi have an almost limitless amount of wealth are their disposable. And yet for over ten years not one piece of that wealth was spent to free my mother."
Obiwan tried to think of something good to say to ease his student’s suffering, but he could come up with was, "Even though the Jedi do not believe personal attachments. If even of us had known what was going to happen we would have…"
Anakin clipped his lightsaber back onto his belt as he sadly said, "I know. I understand all to well. I do not blame the Jedi Order for my mother’s death. But the Jedi do not believe in personal attachments, or love. And even though she is dead, I still love my mother and I am still attached to her with that love, and that is why I must leave the Jedi Order."
Obiwan was shocked at all the thing Anakin was stating as he asked him. "What happened to you when you went to help Mace confront Palpatine?"
"I saw myself, where I was heading, and I am did not like it." Anakin answered. He then turned and walked away from Obiwan.
A minute later, Obiwan returned to his seat on the Jedi Council, he asked, "Did I miss anything?"
Yoda stated, "Much. Grave matters, we have found."
Mace turned to Obiwan and said, "We were just discussing Order 66 for the Army of the Republic."
Obiwan responded, "Order 66? I though the Orders only went up to 65."
Ki-Adi-Mundi stated, "That is what we were lead to believe. But Order 66 was the order to which the Clone Army was to execute the Jedi as traitors to the Republic."
"By the force," Obiwan gasped as he thought about how the Jedi could have been immediately betrayed by the clone army on one single command.
One of the other council members continued, "Fortunately, the clones were only conditioned to obey that order only Palpatine himself voiced that command. Since young Anakin kill Palpatine, we do not have to worry about the order."
Another council member said, "Though we will have the order stricken from the conditioning process that future clone soldiers will be put through as they are grown."
"Anything else?" Obiwan questioned.
Mace replied, "Yes. Order 66 was only just the tip of the iceberg as to what we found is Palpatine personal computer. Though, Palpatine used a different encryption system for his communication records, we have yet to find the present location of Separatists Leaders, that is nothing compared to what information we have found out. Beyond just the Galactic Senate, Palpatine had business and political ties to most of the major planets and organizations in the galaxy. Even without the Chancellor position, from the shadows Palpatine literally controlled the governments, courts and major businesses of countless worlds, including Coruscant. Once his death is learn by his allies, reprisals for his death will be swift and devastating to the Jedi Order."
A third council member said, "Not if we strike them first?!"
Mace stated, "True. We Jedi have a once in a lifetime opportunity to finally rid the galaxy of all influence by the Sith, once and for all."
Obiwan responded, "So how do we want to go about this?"
At that moment, Anakin was in the Jedi hanger bay, getting into his Jedi fight, with are already in his socked.
As he seated himself, he immediately had a waking vision. He saw Padme dying, countless cities on fire, tens of millions of people being killed…
When he came back to his senses, Anakin’s only thoughts were, ‘No, this cannot be. This cannot be. Palpatine is dead… Padme will live… Whom can I go to for help?’ Then he suddenly remembered who Leia’s adoptive father was. ‘Yes. He’ll do nicely.’
"R2…" Anakin said.
R2 beeped in the response.
"We’re going to the Galactic Senate Building." Anakin finished with a smile on his face.
Author’s Notes
There are so many scenes in this chapter that I wondered that would have happened if Anakin had sided with Mace. For example, Anakin’s leaving the Jedi Council, him and Obiwan’s talking about his mother's death, the sand people and him leaving the Jedi Order.
When you think about it, with Padme and the twins on the way, there was no way he could have stayed with the Jedi Order. The Jedi Order was to set in it’s way to forgive Anakin for marrying Padme.
And it would make sense that since Anakin is very skilled at flying, he would think about getting a job as a pilot in either the passenger/cargo profession, or as a racer, like when he pod-raced as a child.
The irony is that if this had been his son, Luke’s Jedi Order. Anakin would not have had this problem because his son’s Jedi Order did not have a problem with their members falling in love, getting married, or having kids.
Though I did not like the direction that the "New Jedi Order" books took, I did like and respect Luke’s Jedi Order up to that point in the previous books before that saga started.

Dark Jedi Council: Darkest Empire

Chapter Three: Executions
Twenty minutes later, after Anakin and R2 left the Jedi Temple, in Senator Organa’s Office, Bail Organa felt his instincts tell him that someone was watching him. Someone that was inside his room with him…
Senator Organa began to reach for the blaster pistol had hidden in his desk when Anakin stepped out from the curtains of his window and state. "Do not be alarmed Senator. I did not come here to hurt you."
Senator Organa responded, "Jedi Skywalker, what brings you on an unscheduled appointment?"
Anakin carefully worded his next statement; "I am here to ask you a huge favor for someone we both care deeply about."
"Whom are we talking about?" Bail asked.
"Padme," Anakin replied.
Bail responded, "So you’re the father…"
"… And her husband," Anakin stated.
Snorted slightly as he said, "Interesting. I thought were forbidden to love and get married."
Anakin answered, "They are. I don’t a great deal of time to explain this in detail. But just to say that I sense Padme and our unborn children as currently in danger and I need someone to hide and shelter them encase the worst happens."
"Encase what happens?" Bail asked curiously.
Anakin took a deep breath and said, "Through the force, I feel there is a dark storm coming that will be even worse than the ravages of the Clone Wars. It would be best if not only Padme, but you as well left Coruscant and went back to Alderaan for now. I know as a fact that you are a good, fine, honorable person Senator Organa. I feel that even if I were to die, as long as my wife and children were with you and your wife, they would be fine. Well you please help me to help her and my children?"
Bail weighted the decision for a moment. He knew both Anakin and Padme, both were good people. A little on the unwise side to married and have children so young, but good people none the less. In addition, Anakin was a Jedi, he would not come to Bail unless the situation was dire.
Bail then said, "Okay, I promise I will help you, Anakin. For Padme’s sake."
"Good," Anakin.
Half an hour later, near noon. Anakin reached Padme’s apartment.
He immediately jumped out of his Jedi starfighter and rushed into Padme’s home.
He found Padme on a couch in the living room section of the apartment.
Padme stood up and asked in a worried tone of voice, "Anakin, what’s wrong?"
Anakin answered in a rushed tone of voice, "Padme. I don’t have time to explain, but I sense something is not right here on Coruscant. You are still not safe. I talked to Senator Organa. I want you to go with him to Alderaan. He promised to protect you and our children. He will be here is five minutes. I want you promise me that if something happens me, that you will at least live for our children."
Padme, who was still absorbing everything Anakin was saying, simply replied, "Yes, I will."
Anakin said, "Go pack what you need, I will be there to help you in a second."
As Padme made her way to her bedroom, Anakin then turn to C3PO and ordered, "C3PO, you’re going with Padme to Alderaan. Make sure she is protected."
"Yes, Master Anakin." C3PO responded in his whiny tone of voice.
The next morning, inside the Senate Building of the Galactic Republic, the Senators and the families, including their children, gather in the hallways and offices waiting to receive official word that the war over so and that they could celebrate.
The Senators had all been contacted the previous night by the Jedi Order and told that the Separatists had finally been defeated. In addition, the Jedi Order had said that they would send a Jedi to announce the good news in person this morning.
The only concern some of the Senators had was that they had received no word for Chancellor Palpatine for over two days.
Elsewhere, across the urban landscape of Coruscant, inside the Jedi Temple, Anakin sat in his personal quarters having an encrypted holographic communication with Yoda, who was on his way to Coruscant from Kashyyyk.
Anakin said to Yoda, "Master Yoda, I need to know exactly what can turn a Jedi to the darkside of the force."
Yoda replied, "Already taught you these things as a padawan, when you were a child."
Anakin responded, "No, you misunderstand. I was taught only the basics of such subjects when I was a child. I need to know specifics. Palpatine did try to turn me to the darkside of the force. I don’t not want to make the same mistake twice."
Yoda signed as he said, "Very well"
Outside the Galactic Senate Building, Jedi Master Obiwan Kenobi walked up the steps leading to the grand entrance of the building. He was flanked by several ranks of his clone soldiers.
Yoda, "Well the first is sadness. Especially when dealing with things we may deeply regret doing."
Inside the Galactic Senate Building, as the first Senators approached Obiwan, he lit his blue lightsaber and slice the politicians in half. It was then that clone troops opened fire on the Senators and their families.
"Next, we have fear. Fear can come from either action, or inaction."
One of the children in front of Obiwan scream, "Please no!" Obiwan momentarily hesitated. Then he bought down his lightsaber for another kill.
"Then there is of course anger."
On a city in the clouds, a Jedi force choked it’s governor to death.
"And hatred."
On a swamp world, a Jedi used force lightening to electrocute a Hutt.
"The enjoyment of violence."
On a city floating on a world of water, supported by clone troops, two Jedi, one using two lightsabers, while the other carried a double-bladed lightsaber, delighted in the carnage they were creating as they killed on innocent person after another.
"After that, there is the loss of emotional control."
On a major asteroid mining city in space, a Jedi flew in her space starfighter, followed by dozens of clone pilot starfighters, as they destroyed the city with laser cannons and proton torpedoes, one building at a time.
"Then there is love and personal attachment, which can bring about sadness through grief, anger, hatred and jealousy."
World of grassy plains was being scorch to cinders by orbital bombardment.
Anakin, "Can arrogance by itself turn a Jedi to the darkside of the force?"
"Yes," Yoda answered.
Jedi Master Mace Windu, who was overseeing and coordinating these galaxy wide ‘Sith purgings’ from Jedi temple communications tower, was pleased that everything was going well. The political coups and attacks going as planned. Mace’s only regret was that Yoda refused to take part in these Sith purgings.
A few minutes later, Anakin finished his conversation with Yoda, who finally gave him so straight answers. He then exited his quarters and noticed through the force from the turmoil of emotions from other Jedi and padawans that something was seriously wrong.
Anakin went to go see what was going on.
Anakin eventually made his way to one of the indoor gardens in the Jedi Temple. He was wondering what was going on, when he looked out the huge windows of the temple and he saw to his horror that the Senate building and the skyscrapers homes of the various political families were all burning.
Moments later, the announcement holograms, in the open areas inside of the Temple came on showing Mace Windu. He said, "There will be a speech on the current event happening in the galaxy in one hour. All are Jedi and padawans are requested attend."
Author’s Notes
Well, we’re to the halfway mark now.
Your positive comments have warmed my heart. I hope you continue to enjoy reading my fanfic.
The Jedi Galactic overthrow was inspired in sort of a parody of the Order 66/Jedi massacre scenes in the Revenge of the Sith movie.
I enjoyed typing that scene out.
For those who think the Jedi Order would never do that, I laid the groundwork for their ‘justifications’ in the previous chapter and I will go into more detail in the next chapter.
Also, the Hutts are originally from a swamp planet and there are reasons why I did not include Tatooine in that list of planes.
Besides which, I kept those nameless planets incase I wanted to later continue this fanfic and wanted to go to some of the more favorite planets in the Star Wars Universe.

Dark Jedi Council: Darkest Empire

Chapter Four: Revelations
An hour later, after Mace’s announcement, in an auditorium inside the temple, after everyone was seated, Mace Windu walked up to the podium and began his speech. "As some of you may know, many things have transpired in the last couple of days. Over two days ago, the Jedi Council learned that the Sith Lord that we were searching was Chancellor Palpatine himself. Palpatine, of Lord Sidious to the Separatists, was literally leading both sides of the Clone War in his quest to gain completely rule of the galaxy as some type of emperor."
"From Palpatine personal computer files, we found out a great many things about him."
"We found out that even without his position as Supreme Chancellor, Palpatine had clandestine control of various governments, courts and major businesses of countless worlds, including Coruscant."
"Fortunately, with the help of the clone army, we Jedi have already begun to purge the galaxy of all influence, once and for all."
"The Galactic Senate of the Republic, who has been to thoroughly corrupted by the Sith, has been completely silenced. And now since there is no one else left, except for the Jedi, who has not been corrupted by the Sith, it is left to us Jedi to rule the galaxy."
Anakin was in one of the back rows of the auditorium. He was beginning to become disgusted by what Mace said, stood-up and suddenly chose that moment to interrupted Mace by saying, "Forgive me Master Windu, but the Jedi are not politicians. We Jedi are sworn to defend the republic. Not rule it."
Mace answered, "That is why we will need to reform the republic into a galactic Empire."
"And how do you intend to organize this new Empire? The war has taken it’s toll on the Jedi ranks. There is nowhere near enough rule Jedi for each planet." Anakin questioned, hoping he could break up this plan before with sound reasoning.
Mace replied, "That is why we will instead appoint regional governors from our ranks of Jedi Masters and Jedi Knights. And within a few years, the padawans in the temple with be fully trained as Jedi Knights and they to will help with defusing power from the current Jedi ranks by being appointed as planetary governors. Also, with the clone army to back us up, we have the strength necessary to purge the galaxy of all Sith influence once and for all."
"So you wish to create galactic theocracy?" Anakin asked.
Mace responded, "Yes, for the time being."
"We Jedi are not trained to rule." Anakin stated.
"Oh, but we shall." Mace responded.
To Anakin, it felt like a nightmare was unfolding right in front of him. Even Palpatine waited nearly two decades for the first Death Star come on line before dissolving the galactic Senate and appointing regional governors, who would have absolute rule under him. Instead, the Jedi Council had jumped ahead of even Palpatine and were already planning to do this immediately.
Anakin asked, "And what about those will oppose you absolute rule?"
Mace replied, "To go against us is to support the Sith. And these traitors will be dealt with by means of swift executions."
Anakin knew where these plans would lead and directly stated, "What you are suggesting is madness. Palpatine turned the entire galaxy against itself, so he could make himself Emperor of it all. To gain power for himself, he used all of us, the Senate, the Separatists… And even we Jedi."
Mace said, "No, the Jedi were the group that has not be influenced by Palpatine’s Sith tricks."
Anakin rationally responded, "That is where you are wrong. And if we did not admit this. That we were a fooled as everyone else, our hubris… Our pride with destroy us all. It will lead to rebellion by the common people of the galaxy."
Mace arrogantly replied, "And what threat can common people pose against the Jedi."
Anakin let Mace question go unanswered, knowing that Jedi council was too far-gone. He simple walked out of the auditorium, not wanting to hear anymore of this.
Right after Anakin left, Mace continued his speech, "Since there are no more interruptions, I will go back to the situation at hand. As I stated before, the galaxy will be broke up into provincial regions, each control by a various council appoint Jedi Master, or Jedi Knight…"
A several hours later, at sunset, long after the Mace had finished his speech, Anakin searched the halls of the Jedi Temple for his friend and teacher, Obiwan Kenobi.
Eventually he turned a corner and was met by Yoda in his hover-chair and Master Windu.
Anakin greeted, "Hello Master Yoda and Master Windu. I am glad to you made it safely to Coruscant. You wouldn’t happen to have seen Master Kenobi? I am looking for him."
Yoda replied, "Sorry to inform you, young Anakin. But Master Kenobi had left Coruscant with his Space Forces on an important mission."
Mace Windu walked up to Yoda said when he said, "But there is much more important issues to discuss with you right now."
"Such as?" Anakin asked.
Yoda held out a mini-holoprojector in his hand, clicking it on.
The holoprojector showed Bail and Anakin talking.
"Padme," Anakin replied.
Bail responded, "So you’re the father…"
"… And her husband," Anakin stated.
Yoda then shutoff the holoprojector.
"You bugged the senator’s office." Anakin stated.
Yoda responded, "Betrayed the Jedi Order, you have."
Mace asked, "Do you have a explanation for your actions?"
Anakin answered, "Well after my mother was murdered and I lost my arm, I decided it was best for me to seize the day.
Mace unhooked his lightsaber, igniting it’s violet blade with a ‘snap-hiss’, as he said, "You will handover your lightsaber and surrender yourself to us. And maybe, if we are a very generous, we will show you mercy and not expel you from the Jedi Order."
Anakin replied, "Being expelled from the Order doesn’t worry me. I was planning to leave the Order anyway. If you talk to Master Kenobi, he’ll confirm that I told him that much as well."
Mace warned, "And who says we are going to let you just leave the Order so you can become another Count Dooku. Padme was one of Palpatine’s closest allies. It is not unbelievable that believe that a beautiful, older, more powerful woman such as Padme could seduce you into joining the Sith. Now, Anakin, you will handover your lightsaber and surrender yourself to us, so that we may purge you of this… Influence."
"It’s called, love." Anakin stated
Anakin thought fast. He knew that if he fought both Yoda and Windu at once, he would be overwhelmed and defeated in under five seconds. In addition, he wasn’t even sure if he could even beat either one of them, in a one on one battle. However, he had one trick left up his sleeve, he just had to stall for time.
Anakin immediately caught them off-guard as he used the force to push Yoda, in his hover-chair, into an adjacent room by the hallway, and using the force to shut the doors to the room, and destroying the keypad to the door; locking Yoda in the room for a few precious seconds.
Anakin then quickly unhooked his blue lightsaber, igniting it just in time to black Mace’s attack.
Anakin said, "I do not want to fight you Master Windu.
"The you shouldn’t have violated the Jedi teaches." Mace replied as he struck with his lightsaber at Anakin repeatedly.
Anakin was constantly being forced back by Mace’s assault. Blocking was all he could do to keep from being sliced in pieces
There were two important facts about Mace that Anakin was taking into account in this fight. One was that Mace preferred to fight with his lightsaber and he was probably the most skilled lightsaber fighter in the Order, except maybe for Yoda. However, the second fact was more worrisome. Mace was actually more dangerous without his lightsaber that with it, because without his lightsaber he would rely on powerful force abilities and incredible fighting skills.
Anakin had once read the reports about Mace’s battle on Dantooine during the Clone Wars. He had literally destroyed almost an entire contingent of B2 battle droids with only the force and his bare hands.
In other words, knocking the lightsaber out of Mace’s hand, which as a Jedi, Anakin was trained to do, but could make Mace an even greater foe to face.
Anakin knew he was going to have to go for the kill if he was to have a chance at escape.
After the Mace’s next swing, Anakin parried it and struck back with his lightsaber.
Mace blocked and advanced, forcing Anakin further back, out of the hallway and into of the indoor gardens of the Temple.
The huge side windows that covered the garden illuminated the two fighters with light from the sunset.
Just then, both of them realized they had gained an audience.
Other Jedi and padawans in the garden watched the fight progress, unsure as to which side to support.
"Stay out of the this!" Both Mace and Anakin ordered in unison to the padawans and Jedi in the room.
Just then, Yoda, who after having escaped for that room, made his way to fight and saw the Mace had things well in hand. He decided to stand back and watch, hoping neither Jedi would kill the other.
After trading a few more attack, Mace twisted and parried the blade part of Anakin’s lightsaber, knocking it out of Anakin’s hands.
A split second later, Mace held his lightsaber to Anakin’s throat as he said, "It’s over."
Anakin smirked, "No, it isn’t." He then turned his head towards the huge windows.
Mace turned to see was Anakin was looking at and saw past the window a Jedi starfighter hovered in the air.
The ship let loose with it’s laser cannons shattering the huge windows, but intentionally not hitting anyone.
Right before the battle, Anakin had turned on the communicator in his pocket to alert R2 to his situation.
It just took a few minutes for R2 to get to a Jedi starfighter and fly it over to him.
Mace immediately used the force to push the ship twenty meters away from the Jedi Temple.
Anakin used the moment to his advantage by force pushing the momentarily distracted Mace onto the ground. He then used the force grab his lightsaber and did a force enhanced running jump out of the Jedi Temple and onto the Jedi starfighter.
"Thanks R2," Anakin said as he got into the cockpit of the starfighter.
R2 beeped a reply as Anakin piloted the ship out of Coruscant’s atmosphere and into lightspeed towards Alderaan.
As Anakin escaped, one of the Jedi helped Mace up and asked, "Do you want us to follow him?"
Mace answered back, "No. We already know where he is going."
Author’s Notes
A few points about the Jedi in this chapter, to just keep in mind.
First, the Jedi are a secretive organization, they would not broadcast their plans for their Empire to the rest of the Galaxy. In addition, by not broadcasting Mace’s speech, it made it more believable for Anakin to interrupt Mace and for them to debate about the future of the Jedi.
Second, Padme is beautiful. And the ‘older’ remark was as a shot as the age differences between Anakin and Padme, most notably seen in the Star Wars Episode I movie. In addition, Padme is powerful, she is a Galactic Senator and at one point ruled an entire planet, Naboo.
Also, if you followed the first two movies, you would note that Padme was one of Palatine’s closest and most powerful supporters in his rise to power. Though she didn’t know he was a Lord of the Sith at the time.
It is not unbelievable for the Jedi to take Anakin’s relationship the wrong way and think that Padme was one of Palatine’s accomplices and that she had tried to seduce Anakin to the darkside of the force.
I will admit that is real twisted thinking from our point of view, but the Jedi had no way of knowing better.
Third, Mace would wipe the floor with Anakin in a lightsaber duel. He is that good, as he showed Anakin that fact in this chapter.
And that mission I mentioned about Mace’s fighting on Dantooine happened in Clone Wars Volume 1. All things considered, it was a very well animated fight and in that fight Mace only really starting kicking but AFTER he lost his lightsaber.

Chapter Five: Confrontations
Several hours later, after his fight with Mace Windu, Anakin exited out of lightspeed above Alderaan. Was terrified at what he saw.
It was Venator class cruiser with support ships.
Fortunately, the ships were ignoring him. One Jedi starfighter was nothing compared to a Venator class cruiser in firepower and support.
His ship’s instruments showed him that there was fighting concentrated at Alderaan’s capital.
Anakin piloted his ship as fast as he could in dived straight into Alderaan’s atmosphere and to the capital’s palace, where Padme was most likely at.
Minutes later, as Anakin and R2 came in on their landing approach to palace, they finally started to receive incoming fire.
As they came in sight of hanger bay they were going to land in, Anakin saw on landing pad that Senator Organa’s Tantive IV space cruiser was destroyed.
Anakin said, "R2, get ready to eject the moment we enter the hanger bay."
R2 beeped and affirmative.
As Anakin and R2 reach the interior of the hanger bay, they were greeted with blaster fire from clone trooper inside the bay.
The both eject from the ship before it crashed into the far wall and exploded.
Once Anakin’s feet hit the ground, he began using his lightsaber to slice through clone troops and deflect blaster fire.
The clones in the bay did not last long against the Jedi. Once they all were killed, Anakin told R2, "R2, access the palace computer and locate Padme."
R2 immediately connect to a dataport and within fifthteen seconds, beeped an affirmative on the location of Padme.
Anakin was standing by R2 and a viewscreen as he said, "So me the location."
The screen shows a diagram of the palace blueprint and the quickest path to take to get to Padme.
Luckily, it was not that far.
Anakin spent the next ten minutes slicing through dozens of clone troopers, until he reached a curtain locked blast door, that lead to a small room.
Anakin used the force to opened blast door and saw Padme and C3PO on the other side of the door in the softly lit of room.
"Anakin!" Padme shouted as she rushed up and hugged him. She then sadly said, "Bail Organa’s and his wife are dead. We had no choice but to locked ourselves in here minutes after the attack began."
Anakin said as the hugged, "I was worried that something had happened to you. I am glad you alright." He then pulled her away and stated, "The Jedi know about us. We need to leave for the outer rim as soon as possible."
Just then, C3PO enthusiastically stated, "Master Anakin, I am so glad you are here!"
Anakin notice that C3PO has some carbon scorch marks on it’s chassis, he asked, "C3PO, what happened to you?"
Padme answered, "C3PO used himself as a shield to protect me."
Anakin complimented, "Good job, C3PO." He then looked back as Padme, "Now let’s figure a way out of here and off this planet." He then turned to R2 and said, "R2, patch into the computer again and see if you can find us a usable ship to use to escape with."
Padme asked, "I though we would take the ship you used to get here?"
Anakin answered, "I kind of destroyed it on the way into the palace. It was a one-seater anyway, that would not fit two."
Just then R2 connected to the palace computer to started showing on the viewscreen beside Anakin and Padme, pictures of the various spaceships still docked at the palace that were still functioning and were still in one piece.
After showing pictures of a couple of ship, the next picture of a cargo ship that looked very familiar to Anakin.
Anakin said, "R2 hold up, what is the name of that ship?"
R2 beeped a reply.
C3PO answered, "He says that ship is named the Millennium Falcon."
"That will do nicely." Anakin replied.
Padme asked in disbelief, "You want use to escape on that piece of junk?"
Anakin smiled as he said, "Trust me, it will do." ‘I should know. After chasing it from one side of the galaxy to the other, I would know.’ He thought. He then asked, "Now, how to get there."
R2 beeped something.
C3PO stated, "R2 says he has an idea."
R2’s plan was seal off several of the palace’s blast doors to cut off the clone troops and make a quick path to the Millennium Falcon.
This plan worked almost perfectly.
With the path clear, except for a few clone soldiers here and there, which Anakin dealt with swiftly enough, Anakin, Padme and the droids quickly made their way to the hanger that housed the Millennium Falcon.
However, when the blast doors to the hanger bay opened, Anakin and Padme saw three Jedi in brown cloaks, hoods drawn, standing between them and Falcon.
"Padme, get behind me." Anakin ordered, as he held out lightsaber, ready to attack.
Padme quickly complied.
The Jedi pulled back their hoods to reveal who they were to Anakin and Padme.
The right Jedi flanking the middle one was a female teal colored Twilek.
While the left Jedi flanking the middle one was a male Ithorian.
And Jedi in the middle was Jedi Master Obiwan Kenobi.
It was then that Anakin noticed that Obiwan’s eyes had turned yellow with the darkside of the force, as were the eyes of the other two dark Jedi.
Anakin coldly asked, "So this was the mission you were sent on Obiwan? Attacking a defenseless planet? Trying to murder my wife and unborn children?"
Obiwan calmly said, "Padme has corrupted your mind. Please surrender so that we may save you."
Anakin stated. "From my point of view, I do not need saving. It is you who need saving. Have you looked in the mirror lately? Having you eyes turn yellow is a distinct sign of the darkside."
Obiwan responded, "I have not fallen to the darkside of the force. As your feelings can tell you, I am neither angry, nor fearful."
Anakin replied, "No, but my feelings tell me you are arrogant. And that is far more dangerous than the other two."
"Anakin, you are treading on dangerous ground." Obiwan warned.
Anakin begged, "I know. So will you please let us go, Obiwan."
"I can’t let you do that," Obiwan stated.
Anakin was on the verge of tears as he continued to beg, "Please, Obiwan. I swear if you let us go, I will take Padme with me and use that ship to go beyond the outer rim into the unknown regions. And you we never see, nor hear from us, or our children ever again. Please, we do not have to fight."
Obiwan smile wickedly as he said, "You’re right. We don’t have to fight. Padme was on the people instrumental in Palpatine’s rise to power. She has corrupted you. If you surrender now, then we will not need to fight. You both will come back with us to the Jedi temple on Coruscant. And after Padme gives birth to your children, she will be swiftly executed. Moreover, even if you decide not to rejoin the Jedi Order, then your children will become the Jedi that you should have been."
"No, they won’t." Anakin growled, realizing the horrific irony of Obiwan’s words.
As Obiwan lit his blue lightsaber, while the two dark Jedi flanking him on both his sides lit their green lightsabers. He asked, "You said to me once that being a Jedi is no longer important to you. What is important to you?"
Anakin composed himself as he took off his brown robes and lit his own blue lightsaber. He calmly answered, "Being loving husband to my wife… Being a good father to my children."
Obiwan stated, "So you have finally become a man, Anakin. I am proud to have known you."
Obiwan and the other two dark Jedi then dropped their unhooked their cloaks, letting them drop to the floor as they attacked Anakin, while Padme ran for cover.
Anakin was fighting three on one. It was almost as bad as when he fought Mace Windu some hours ago.
And to make matters worse, he could sense that the clone troopers left in the palace were getting closer with each blast door they broke through.
In the confusion, the droids quickly made their way aboard the Millennium Falcon.
Unfortunately, Padme was not so lucky. She circled around the fighting Jedi by making her way around by hiding behind several stacks of fuel barrels. But the moment she came into open view as she tried to make a dash for the entrance to the Falcon, the Twilek dark Jedi saw her.
The Twilek jumped over to Padme with her lightsaber raised high.
"Anakin!" Padme yelled for help.
Anakin used the force to push away the Ithorian and Obiwan by six or seven meters, as he turned his attention to Padme.
Anakin saw that the Twilek was about to kill Padme with her lightsaber and he felt a sudden burst of anger. Which he used it to do a combination force choke and push the Twilek dark Jedi, that it had such force that is literally decapitated her and it pushed her body clear out of the hanger
Padme immediately rushed back to the cover of the fuel tanks as Anakin used force grip to grab the Twilek’s green lightsaber in his left hand.
Obiwan saw this, while feeling Anakin’s burst of anger. As he approach Anakin with his lightsaber, he began to preach, "One should never use the force in anger. You saying about you not being the one the need saving."
"You really need to take a good look at yourself in a mirror." Anakin responded, as he parried Obiwan’s attack.
Just then, the Ithorian dark Jedi was about to attack Anakin behind when a laser shot from the underbelly quad-laser-cannon of the Falcon killed the Ithorian where he stood.
In response, Obiwan immediately use the force to destroy the underbelly quad-laser-cannon as he said. "Damn droid..."
"Oh, but R2 comes in handy at least expected times." Anakin stated as he struck Obiwan with two lightsaber.
Obiwan, force gripped the Ithorian’s green lightsaber in his left hand as countered Anakin’s attack with two lightsaber.
They were both using two lightsabers at once, a blue and a green one each. It was hard to tell whether they attacking, or defending each other’s strikes.
In some cases, they were doing both at the same time.
"You destroyed the Senate!" Anakin yelled as he struck back.
"I saved the Republic!" Obiwan loudly responded as he parried and returned the attack.
"You created an Empire!" Anakin screamed as he countered and did an arcing slice.
"I eliminated the influence of the Sith!" Obiwan shouted as he used his two lightsabers to catch Anakin’s lightsabers in a scissors block. He then force pushed Anakin back onto the ground and advanced with his own attack.
"You killed innocent children!" Anakin roared as he jumped back up on his feet, blocking the attack and returning it with his own strikes.
"I was following the will of the Jedi Council!" Obiwan yelled as he sidestepped the strikes and thrust out with both his lightsaber.
"You have fallen to the darkside of the force!" Anakin stated as he struck down at Obiwan’s lightsabers, forcing them away from Anakin.
A moment later, Padme tried again to run for the Falcon, Obiwan saw this and threw his green lightsaber at her.
Anakin, sensing Padme in danger, countered by throw his green lightsaber.
The lightsabers knocked each other out of the air as Padme retreated back behind the fuel barrels.
For a split second, Anakin was distracted and caught off-guard as Obiwan used his left hand to force choke Anakin.
Anakin instinctively lashed out at Obiwan with his blue lightsaber, while he was being suffocated.
Obiwan easily blocked Anakin’s disparate attacks with his own blue lightsaber as he warned him, "Don’t make me kill you, Anakin."
Anakin tried to push Obiwan away with the force, but that did not work either.
Anakin thought, ‘So this is was it feels like. How ironic. I have to do something quick before I pass out, or Padme is dead."
Anakin knew he had no choice. Palpatine had taught him the trick once, he just didn’t like it. He reached deep down inside himself and found the hatred he need. It was not much, but it would do, he then lashed out with it.
Anakin pointed his left hand at Obiwan and a single bolt of lightening erupted from his fingers.
The blot of electricity directly hit Obiwan’s left hand, temporarily paralyzing it, and knocking Obiwan off balance.
Anakin pressed his advantage, by first taking a deep breath and then with both of his hands gripping his lightsaber, he struck out at Obiwan.
Obiwan was forced to only use his right hand to hold his lightsaber as he fended off Anakin’s attack.
Anakin repeatedly struck his lightsaber at Obiwan weakening defenses, again and again; until finally, he sliced off Obiwan’s right hand at the wrist.
Anakin held his blue lightsaber to Obiwan’s throat as he said, "Walk away, Obiwan. We don’t have to kill each. There has already been so much needless death."
"Never!" Obiwan roared in anger, he then look up at the ceiling of the hanger.
Anakin risked looking up at the ceiling and saw Obiwan use the force to split two large power cables.
The cables swung towards the group of fuel barrels that Padme was near.
"NOOOOOO!!" Anakin yelled using the force to speed his footsteps as he rushed to Padme before the cables hit the fuel barrels.
Anakin used himself as a human shield to protect Padme and his unborn children as the flames engulf the hanger bay.
Meanwhile, Obiwan used the force to jump back into the hallway leading to the hanger, and using the force to grab his lightsaber with his left hand flying back in the air. When he land, he used the force to shut the hanger blast doors to protect him for the explosion that ignited right after the blast doors completely closed.
Obiwan was certain Anakin and Padme were killed in the explosion as he stated outloud, "What a waste..."
He then began walking out of the palace towards his shuttle. He wanted to get off this world and have his right hand replaced as soon as possible.
Author’s Notes
I am not going to say much, but before you plan to hurt me for that above cliffhanger, keep in mind that I did stay that this story was a ‘tragedy’ in the fanfic ‘subject section’ and I will post the Epilogue tomorrow. You will probably enjoy the ending.
Anyway, this is probably my favorite part of the fanfic, with Anakin and Obiwan fighting. I really enjoyed writing the action and dialogue scenes. I think they went well together.
In addition, about the three-on-one fight, from Obiwan’s point of view, wouldn’t it make much more sense to bring help in taking down a Jedi, instead of doing it alone.
Plus, it was the only way I could figure where I could give Obiwan and Anakin an extra lightsaber in the fight.
About the Millennium Falcon, it was shown leaving Coruscant at the beginning of SW Episode 03. So I figured, if the Falcon was going somewhere, it might as well have gone to Aldraan.
If you going to escape a planet under attack, you might as well do in style.

Chapter Six: Epilogues
As Obiwan made his way onto his shuttle, back in the hanger, the fires were parted with the force as a horribly burn Anakin Skywalker carried a nearly as burned, unconscious Padme up the ram and into the Millennium Falcon.
"Master Anakin! Master Padme! What happen!?" C3PO shrieked as Anakin rushed passed him through the hallways of the Falcon until he reached the medical area of the ship.
He looked at C3PO and order, "Look after Padme and treat her wounds as best you can."
Anakin then the rushed to the cockpit and found R2 still patched to the Falcon’s computer. As Anakin got into the pilot’s seat, he asked, "R2, have you already prepped the ship for launch?"
R2 beeped an affirmative.
"Good. We’re getting out of here." Anakin stated as he piloted the Falcon out of the burning hanger and into the air.
Anakin knew that he and Padme needed immediate medical attention as soon as possible. But where to go? Where would the Jedi not look for them? Then he realized, the Planet Mustafar.
And this ship would make it there in record time…
As the Millennium Falcon left Alderaan ’s orbit, Obiwan had already boarded his Venator cruiser.
When he reach to the main deck, Commander Cody came up to him and reported, "Sir, there are some same ship escaping Alderaan. Do you wish us to destroy them?"
Obiwan arrogantly ordered, "No. Ignore them. They pose us no threat. Also, charge the ship’s laser cannons and prime the photon torpedoes. I want all life on the surface of this rock destroyed within the hour."
"Yes sir," Cody said as he relayed the message.
Obiwan watched the start of the orbital bombardment of Alderaan with his hate filled yellow eyes, from a large window on the main deck. He though about how the corrupting influence from people on that planet, Padme and the Organas, had forced him to kill his best friend and student… The man who was like a brother to him… Anakin Skywalker…
A few hours later, the Millennium Falcon came out of lightspeed over Mustafar.
A droid voice came over the Falcon’s communicator, "State you business or be destroyed."
Anakin quickly stated, "I have come to warned the Separatist leaders that grave changes have happened in the Republic and that Jedi will by here with their clone armies within a day or two. I am Exiled Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker. I have a medical emergency. I have powered down my ship’s weapons and will explain everything that has gone on so far, in exchange for medical aid. I and my pregnant wife as have suffered extreme burns."
Thirty seconds later, droid voice responded, "You are cleared to land."
As the Millennium Falcon landed on Mustafar, a full team of medical droids stood by the landing pad, along with the Separatists leaders, including Nute Gunray.
As Anakin walked down the ramp, carrying Padme in his arms, the Separatist leaders were shock at what they saw. That given the severe burns covering Anakin’s entire body, that he was not only able to still able to stand, but also carry someone.
After Anakin laid Padme onto the gurney, he turned to the Separatist leaders and begged, "Please help her. I’ll do anything for you, if you just help her."
Half an hour later, Nute Gunray, leader of the Separatists, was many things, but above all else, he was a practical man.
He look past the window to the medical room and at the severely burned and pregnant Padme in the throws of labor. The Jedi was with her.
A year ago, he wanted her head on his adorn his desk, and to a small degree, he still did.
But if what this Jedi was saying was true, then not only was the Trade Federation being used from the start by Palpatine during the Naboo fiasco, but the entire Separatist movement was based on a lie.
And it was worse, Nute’s own sources had confirmed to him a few minutes ago that was this Jedi had said was true. That the Jedi Order had used the clone army to seize control of the galaxy and dissolve the Galactic Republic.
That once the Jedi Order had finished decrypting Palpatine’s data logs, they would be at Mustafar in a matter of days.
At the very least, he owed the Jedi Skywalker his life. Also, he knew this Jedi Skywalker was very powerful by the fact the his burn far worse than Padme’s injures, but he was still able to stand and talk.
He may have held hatred for Padme, but not her children, nor her husband. Even if as a kid, this Jedi had destroyed the ship that controlled the droid army and help to stop the invasion of Naboo.
He could let her die, her injuries was so severe that she would not survive giving birth to her twins. But saving her life was more beneficial to him and the Separatists.
The agreement with Anakin Skywalker was simple enough. Save Padme, insure the safety of the Skywalker infants and Anakin would help the Separatists overthrow this new Dark Jedi Council.
Anakin left Padme’s side, walking out of the medical room and asked Nute, "Can you save her life?"
Nute was completely, which was best why dealing with a Jedi sense the can sense dishonesty, "To be honest, I don’t know. I can increase her chance of survival. But even if she was not in labor, her burn wounds could easily kill her."
"How can you help her?" Anakin choked out.
Nute looked into Anakin’s normal human eyes as he answered, "The Jedi… Always believing the natural course is best, even if it kills the patient. However, there are other ways besides the natural course that can be taken. I would suggest a type of surgery called a cesarean section. This is where the droid doctors will cut open Padme’s abdomen and pullout the children from her body. Then they sow her backup. It is a very safe, time-tested procedure, and it is a lot less stressful on her body than natural childbirth."
Anakin though it over for a few seconds, then he said, "Do it."
Twenty minutes later, the medical droids had finished the surgery on Padme and were sewing her up as the presented the mother, her twins.
A minute later, as the twins were taken by the droids to rest, the new mother said to Anakin, who at her side the entire time, "Anny. They are so beautiful."
"I know." Anakin stated.
"You will make a wonderful father…" Padme said as she passed out.
"Padme. Padme!" Anakin said as he tried to wake her back up. He looked over at the medical instruments, which showed Padme’s vitals were weakening. Anakin could literally feel her slipping away.
Anakin was using the force to barely keep himself alive, he didn’t have the strength to use the force to help her as well.
‘No…’ Anakin thought as Padme laid dying in front of him. He was not going to lose Padme again. Not now… Not after all they had been through. There had to be a way to save her. There had to been…
‘Wait a minute, this base it a foundry.’ Anakin thought. He then looked at Nute Gunray and asked, "Does this place have a carbon-freezing chamber?"
Nute answered, "Yes. But what would you need that for?"
Anakin stated, "Because we are going to put her in cryogenic hibernation." He then turned medical droids and said, "Get her on a gurney quickly. We don’t have much time."
Unlike the carbon-freezing chamber on Cloud City, this was a horizontal freezing chamber; all he had to do was place laid on the table, push her in and freeze her.
Less than a minute later, the medical droids laid Padme on the table and pushed her into the carbon-freezing chamber.
Anakin used the force to adjust the settings to the freezing chamber, to be just right.
As Nute Gunray was watching this, he said to Anakin, "This is very risky. The Carbon Freezing process could kill a health person, let alone someone in Padme’s shape."
Anakin turned to Nute and said, "We don’t have the time for any other options. We have to risk it."
After double-checking the settings, Anakin turned on the carbon-freezing chamber.
Cold vapor erupted from the chamber opening as it froze Padme in carbonite.
A few second later, the slab of carbonite that Padme was encased in was pulled out of the chamber.
Anakin immediately rushed over to check the instruments on the side of the carbonite slab.
Padme survived the freezing process and her vitals were weak, but stable.
Anakin knew he would wait to wake her up until he was strong enough to heal her without risking her life.
And that would likely be months, if not years. But, she was still alive and safe.
‘Now about the twins,’ Anakin thought as he turned and walked over to R2 and C3PO, who had be silently watching and following him since they land on Mustafar.
He gave them instructions on where to take newborn twins and what to do afterwards.
Anakin then looked over to Gunray and said, "Nute, I want you to lend my droids a shuttle with a droid pilot, to take my twins where they will be safe."
"No problem." Nute replied.
As the droids left to carry out their tasks, Anakin choked out, "Let us begin."
"This way Anakin," Gunray said as he led Anakin down the hallway to a black metal double door.
The door automatically slid open as Anakin saw an all to familiar metal slab of a table, surrounded by medical droids.
After Anakin stepped into the room, the door to the metal double doors closed with a ‘clang!’
Several hours later, aboard Mace’s Venator cruiser, Obiwan, with his new metallic, silver colored, droid, right hand, walked across the threshold of main deck to the meet Mace and Yoda in his hover chair, by the huge window at the front of the deck.
They looked out the huge window and watched the construction of the skeletal structure of the first Death Star.
Yoda then looked at his friends, Mace and Obiwan, with deep concern.
Mace and Obiwan’s eyes had both turn yellow with the corruption of the darkside of the force.
Though, Master Jedi Yoda himself had not yet turn to the darkside of the force. He already realized that the Jedi Council, and by extension the Jedi Order, had fallen to the darkside of the force.
Of all things, to be corrupted by their arrogance in their quest to destroy the influences of Sith.
The poetic justice was not lost on Yoda.
Nevertheless, Yoda knew that he could do more good from the inside, by steering the Dark Jedi Council’s decisions in better directions, then to openly fight them from the outside.
Yoda said quietly to himself, "Fallen so far, we have."
The shuttle carrying R2-D2, C3PO and the newborn twins, landed at their destination on Tatooine, in front of the Lars’ family home.
As soon as R2, CP30, carrying Luke and Leia Skywalker stepped off the ship, the shuttle immediately took back off into the sky.
As Owen and Beru came out of their home to see what was going on, R2-D2 played a holographic message for them from Anakin Skywalker.
C3PO then handed Owen and Beru the twins.
As the two droids followed the family inside, they realized they would be in the service of the Lars family for a very long time.
It did not take long for the Separatists to abandon Mustafar for another hidden base.
He had recommended a few places that would make good hidden bases, like Hoth, Yavin IV or Dantooine.
They were not against going to those places.
Onboard the lead Trade Federation Cruiser, in the center of a sparse room, Padme laid in carbonite slab.
He looked at her with his eyes, which fortunately showed actual color spectrum, and not just infrared.
He made the right choice this time and he still wind up back in the suit.
He could hear Nute Gunray begin his speech that was being broadcast across the galaxy,
from the main deck of the ship.
Nute Gunray: "The Separatists movement may have been started by those will less than honor intentions, but we have moved beyond that."
As his footsteps clanged against the metal floor, he thought back to the things Palpatine had said to him.
Palpatine, "You have great wisdom, Anakin."
Gunray, "We are no longer the Separatists. We have become something more. We have become a movement to overthrow the Jedi tyranny. A movement that is gaining more members with each passing day."
As he walked, he noted that instead of black, the armor and cape were white this time around. The blue blade of his lightsaber would go well with white.
Palpatine, "In time, you will learn to trust your feelings."
Gunray, "But we have found a new leader. One that will lead us to glory and freedom."
As he continue to walk, he thought that if he had to do it over again, again he would have left Mace and Palpatine to kill each other and immediately taken Padme as far away from the core worlds as he could.
Palpatine, "You are the most gifted Jedi I have ever met."
Gunray, "But I will let him introduce himself."
On the main deck, as he came to a stop in front of the camera droid, he spoke in his mechanical voice, "I am Darth Vader. You Jedi may have crushed the separatists. But the rebellion has just begun!"
The End.
Author’s Notes
Well that’s it for right now. I took Anakin out the suit and put him back in the suit in another way.
Instead of a black armor Darth Vader, we now have a white armored Darth Vader and he still has his blue lightsaber.
The death of Padme was probably the corniest scene in all of Star Wars (movies, comics, games). All this technology and they couldn’t do a simple c-section on her. Yea right.
The Yoda and Obiwan let her die.
It could be argued that Obiwan murdered Padme in movie three by lying to her that Anakin was dead and that not doing the above.
Before any of you ask, yes I plan to continue this fanfic. It will probably be some time next year in 2006.
I am thinking of having the sequel set a decade or so after these event, but still long before the timeline would parallel with the event of "Episode 04 - A New Hope".
I don’t plan to have the twins in the sequel, but I do plan to have others in it that you would probably like. Han Solo, Boda Fett and Lando. I also plan to have Thrawn. I like that character and I hated the way he died. Having a younger version of Thrawn working under Vader.
One other character I am thinking of using is HK-47 from the KotOR games. Maybe tweak his personality a bit in that HK-47 has been functioning for almost 4000 years and his personality has become slightly like Kup’s from Transformers Generation one in that HK has a "been there, done that’ attitude to combat. And have HK working for Vader. It is to easy to make HK a bad guy, I need a challenge.
And I have a few other surprises in mind.
Anyway, if any of you want to post my fanfic on your website. Please let me know so I can update you when I finish the next draft to this fanfic. This is the first draft of my fanfic.
Finally, I am glad you all like my fanfic and hope you will continue to enjoy my works in the future.
See you,
