I was watching The French Connection today starring Gene Hackman, who won an Oscar for the role. The movie starts with Popeye undercover as Santa Claus, remarkably similiar to what Bullock did in Holiday Knights. Anyone notice this? Comments? I wonder if Timm/Dini did this intentionally....

Well, I have never seen the movie, but, I really liked that bamtan episode, it was cool how it showed all the villians, and the ending was cool.

Has anyone seen The French Connection? A 1971 movie starring Gene Hackman in a Oscar winning role as a Harlem police officer? An excellent movie. In the opening of the movie, Gene Hackman's character is in disguise as Santa Claus, like Harvey Bullock, to catch a crook.

The French Connection has been one of my favorite movies ever since I first saw it when I was 14. It's so great, and the car chase is STILL captivating. I'm so glad that Darren Aronofsky cites this movie as a major influence on his upcoming Batman flick. As for the Bullock/Doyle connection, maybe, but Popeye Doyle was a helluva lot harder than Bullock ever was.

Yeah - I was sorta stretching it there, but the Santa snowsuit thing from the beginning just reminded me of Holiday Knights. The movie is definatly excellent, one of my favorites. I recently bought the DVD of the movie and the transfer is great. Gene Hackman has beena favorite actor of mine for a long time!
