Before anyone says Batman Beyond, I got to it first.
Well one of my personal favorites Andromeda is on the way there. I mean they're just going to turn it into another mindless Sci-Fi show based purely on action. They also fired the person who was arguably their most talented writer cuz his story arc's where to "complex."
Your guys turn.

Fox version of Escaflowne.
But it got picked up on YTV later, which I am muchly glad for. Even if that's the only version I've seen and I hear the original version is much better.

The Tick live-action on Fox. What it's 101 in the Nielsons? IT couldn't be because it is on against Friends!

Sonic SatAM comes to mind, just because Power Rangers (at that time) is popular is no reason to cancel and good show!

Space 1999. The first season was cerebal and intellectual science fiction that made you think about what you were watching, but the second season was forced to delve into more action type stories that were out of place. Space 1999 was way better than the Origianl Star Trek series but the suits wanted it to be more mindless than it was.

It's also against my favorite show, "WWF Smackdown".
I have two picks. Mystery Science Theater 3000, and Ren & Stimpy.

The Naked Truth and Action--both created by Chris Thompson.
The Naked Truth was about a woman named Nora Wilde (played by Tea Leoni) who, following her divorce from her millionaire [and influential] husband, was only able to work for a sleazy tabloid magazine as a paparrazi photographer (despite the fact that she had a Pulitzer Prize). It was was great when it was on ABC, but when NBC picked it up they butchered the entire concept of the show--adding George Wendt and making the focus of the show be about "wacky-office stuff" as opposed to Hollywood satire. NBC killed it.
Action was a wickedly funny satire about Peter Dragon, a fictional Hollywood producer played by Jay Mohr, and his adventures he had while trying to get his next film--Beverly Hills Gun Club--finished (following the failure of his previous film). FOX chickened out when it drew fire for content, then let the show languish and die by December.
:(
For some reason Hollywood satire doesn't play well on T.V.

Abruptly dropped from UPN in fall of 1997 for what can only rightfully be called "neo-blaxplotation sitcoms".
Also, The Benny Hill show on Comedy Central, which without warning was jettisoned for Soap. Come to think of it, a lot of good shows, like The League of Gentleman and The Upright Citizens Brigade got a raw deal from ComCent, either cancelled or stuck in miserable early morning time slots.

Late Line got shafted big time. I really think that if NBC just let that show have a regular time slot instead of moving it every other week that it would have gotten a bigger audience. I think that show had the potential to be as a stong comedy series as any of the other sit coms that have lasted several seasons.
Twin Peaks also really got the shaft from ABC, especially when they put on on Saturday night. I mean, really, who watches TV on Saturday night? They also preempted it forever with football. That show got no respect in scheduling, but look at it now, it still has a magazine dedicated to it and has a fan base that is just as strong if not stronger than when it was first on TV. ABC really fumbled with that one.

*smacks forehead repeatedly*
How can I forget First Wave? That show was pretty much ignored by the Sci-Fi Channel, and then a company bought the company that owned it and dropped all funding.
Part of my user name is from that show, and the first show i thought of when i saw the subject was Sports Night. *sighs* I guess I really have moved on.

Gargoyles (again). This was, and still is, the coolest non-anime "action" cartoon in the world. Then it got bought out by ABC and turned into the stupid-ass "Goliath Chronicles".
The Mad Hatter

Gargoyles, certainly. That show had at least 65 more eps in it.
Also Futurama... it's still on, but it gets preemted so much you'd never know it.

I can't believe how screwed over Gargoyles got. It had...what? 65 episodes in syndicaitonbefore ABC ruined it? Aside from the lame name, the animated fell down a couple pegs and the stories just got bad. I don't think there were any two part episodes, too. The way the show ended in syndication was cool, and a great enw direction could have been taken...but then ABC got it...

I have a feeling all TV is getting a make-over after this year. & I'm not just talking Kids TV(With every station having a makeover). Trust me, after Friends ends this year, everything is going to change(remember when everything sucked after Seignfeld ended?).
Anyway. My point is, I bet a lot of good shows are going to get canned within the next year, if ONLY to fit the new make-over's. Fox Kids had plenty of good shows before the "all Action" thing. *sigh* :(

I'm throwing in Reboot, that got drop-kicked from ABC's schedule after the Disney buyout, and VR.5, my favorite one-season-wonder.
I'll also contest whoever mentioned Sports Night. The network actually went to great lengths to support this for two seasons, during which the ratings were absolutely dismal. There was a cable offer after the plug was pulled, but Aaron Sorkin decided he'd rather focus on his other show. . .The West Wing. Not the networks' fault for once.

I hear you--every episode of The Goliath Chronicles had to be about prejudice. And they didn't really do anything with Goliath and Eliza's relationship.

Reboot was a good show.....and it's still kicking..barely....
After getting the shaft from ABC (here in the states) It was eventually picked up by CN....where it continues to get the shaft...
They only had 8 new eps (actually 2 new Made for TV Movies...CN had them epified) and they were only aired once...Damnit! ARG!!!
Ok, I'm going to add in "Star Trek" which could have done so much more than it did, but the execs killed it..
B5 to some extent...season 5 suffered cause they rushed Season 4....
I know there are more..I just can't think @ the moment...bloody police scanners blaring @ me, churches calling me...st00pid sn0w.

Oh, B5, I forgot about that one!
Yeah, you'll notice that the episodes of "Season 4" of Reboot are much more grittier than the ones of Season 1, when they had to contend with ABC censors. They made Mainframe give Dot "monobreast" ;)
I like how they had all sorts of inside digs at ABC afterwards....like in Season 2... "It's the ABCs, sir! They've turned on us!" "Treacherous dogs!"

Okay, how about Profit, Kinderd the Embraced, and Yes I liked V.5, with Anthony Stuwart Head, in an early role.
ACTION: was one of my favs!!! I can't believe they canceled it, and the last episode wasn't aired on FX.
Dungeon and Dragons: it was cancelled too soon!! Did the kids ever get out of there?? I want to know??
David the Nome; I read somewhere that he dies in the last ep. Why did Nick, stop the nome???
I'll think of more later-- call me Kane

Sci-Fi has no respect for Anime, either. In February last year, my cable company sid that they'd soon be putting 2 new channels into the lineup: Cartoon Network and Sci-Fi. I thought I 'd died and gone to Heaven. But when i finally get them both (about 6 months after the announcement, thank you very much Comcast), I find out that the Sci-Fi Saturday morning Anime block is gone, and the MST3K schedule was every other weekend, at best. It figures, I guess.

Pinky, Elmyra, & The Brain is another show that was just terrible, all becuase of the suits. They took a great show, though in one of the worst characters and history...and this is what we got. Ren & Stimpy also suffered becuase of coprorate thinking, too.

"Clerks: The Animatec Series" got screwed by ABC. Big time. The one thing fans of Kevin Smith's work can be thankful for is that they all got released on video. And the did quite well. The show had tons of potential. But then again, ABC is famous for screwing up good shows and putting on crap. To quote a reference from the awesome Tom Talker, "THE WAYNE BRADY SHOW SUCKED!!!!!!"

Hey ... speaking of obscure tv shows -
I was thinking back to saturday morning cartoons
I watched as a youngster.
What was the name of that cartoon
where the kid drives a corvete and crashes
into a mad scientists barn during a crucial experiment
(when else?).
He merges with his car ... he can switch from bieng a teen
to a car the trigger bieng water to turn him into a car
and ice to turn him human.
Its amazing this show ever got made ... but I watched.
Was it AutoTeen?
Anyone else ever see this brilliant action packed cartoon?

That was Turbo Teen. I wouldn't exactly have called it a "brilliant action packed cartoon". But that's just me. :bosko:
Not only is it amazing that the show got made, I find it nothing short of a miracle that the even had 12 episodes produced.
While it's not exactly my cup of tea, I believe that Boomerang currently has the broadcast rights. And if they don't no one does.

1) Escaflowne - FOX really doesn't know how to handle anime properly, in my opinion.
2) Mystery Science Theater 3000 - I hear they're going to stop airing the reruns in January, and it breaks my little heart. I love this show so much and I just don't want it to go away :( *sniff*
3) Futurama - I have become so confused on when it airs nowadays. It used to be on at 7:00 on sundays, right? Now I'm not even sure.

Yeah, WB really messed up with that. Pinky and the Brain were a great comedy duo but Elmyra just threw the entire thing off it's axis :(
If they wanted to bring back Elmyra then why not make a new series of Tiny Toons? ( Which is another great show that ended before it's time )
Bring back Tiny Toons!
Bring back Doctor Who!
Bring back Quantum Leap!
Why does every show I love end up getting cancelled? :(

I'm going to say Deep Space 9, even though it had a full run. Paramount's decision for a 4th trek series, Voyager, showed no faith whatsoever in DS9, divided audiences, and began Star Trek's downfall. If DS9 had been the only Trek on tv, think of the attention it would have gotten and the effect that would have had on the future of Star Trek. Instead we had to endure poor storytelling from Voyager for the last several years and Paramount green-lighting a Voyager-like show with Enterprise. DS9's storytelling style and quality has been completely forgotten/ignored.

I will never understand any ill feelings towards Deep Space Nine. While I didn't like the second Dax, I still feel the series was very strong and rarely got the respect it deserved. I am looking forward to DS9 on DVD more than any other Trek series.
