But, native voices are muted.

Who cares? At least they showed the cartoon. They deserved enough points just for that.

I'm pretty glad to see it at all, but c'mon, you have to admit that it would've been really great to have it unedited. That's probably a little too much to expect from CN though.

True. I didn't expect anything from CN tonight, except just another wasted opportunity for new rare T&J's- so that's why I was so surprised that FRIDAY showed up, even if it was editing. The editing was pretty bad, though. You can see the guys lips moving clearly, and there's no dialogue. That looked weak.

I still say that this would have to be the biggest shocker of the year from CN.

And if they did show it uncut, I'd probably be so happy that I'd forgive CN for all the dumb programming choices they made this year (maybe even the Bugs Censored 12 fiasco).

At least I got the warning of some rarities being shown, and I was shocked at the choices, but stunned we did not get more than we should have gotten.

First, I'd like to know what dialogue was edited from His Mouse Friday. I saw it so many years ago, but don't know what was said. The editing was just catastrophic. It's as is or it's not good enough!

Second, I did not know there were TWO versions to Saturday Evening Puss! The biggest joke of it all was Mammy's version was shown, and, as expected, had her dialogue re-dubbed even though there was absolutely nothing offensive in what was said. The funny thing is that I have the version where Mammy's voice mis-matches with a different lady! If any of you do not have that version, E-mail me and let me know if you want that copy!

I'm going to repost my His Mouse Friday review. Alot of people responded to it explaining what Jerry was saying.....

Whoa...so I've finally seen these two "infamous" Tom and Jerry cartoons! In one half-hour! Pretty good, Cartoon Network! I, too, was dismayed at the edit, but I am not sure what they should be saying. When watching the tape this morning I thought "surely Jerry is muted because he doesn't ever talk", and "surely the natives don't talk if it's T&J"....but I think they all talk and CN muted it for some reason. Come to think of it, I saw this film once back when we had that local channel here in FW that showed syndicated Tom and Jerry, and I believe it was unedited, but that was so long ago, and I was merely a young-un.
Aside from the dubbing, I thought "Saturday Evening Puss" was the best selection of this episode. I am sure I'd never seen this, in any version. That's pretty darn funny...and so true of pets. Also, watching this, I found absolutely nothing offensive. Also interesting is that Mammy is not a maid here, but the owner of the house, clearly. You get that idea in other cartoons, but here she's not even wearing an apron or walking around dusting or cleaning, etc. And I have heard about that "alternative" version where she is redrawn to look like a white lady...that in itself is more offensive to me than her being African-American. If I were black, I'd think it was cool that the owner of Tom and Jerry was as well, in a sea of clearly white characters on CN...I don't believe there are any Cartoon Cartoon characters who are black, no Looney Tunes characters (well, they are censored!), and I don't think any other regularly-seen shows on CN feature African Americans. Mammy, especially with the redubbed voice, is hardly stereotypical.

What's the other infamous Tom and Jerry? Aside from the three cinemascope remakes, CN has aired them all.

Oh, I just meant "infamous" in terms of this forum...these two have probably been mentioned the most out of any T&J cartoons on this board. Maybe CN listened. They have spies, you know.
