View Full Version : A call to all X: Evo fans!

Yeah, I'm new here. So what. Just want to get that out of the way.
Here's what I'm sayin, and I'm putting it here so everyone will see it not just posting on other threads as a sidenote:
If you truly are an evo fan you want at least one of the following two:
X-men Evolution back on TV or The whole thing on DVD so you can watch it over and over again.
I know all the things said about the show being out of favor on the targeted audience and the rights of who can make the franchise. It all says it is impossible. But remember what powers both television and franchise and anything else in our world: Money and Demand!
So tell me, what is stopping it from being out there? Money and Demand! The companies feel that the demand of the show is too low for profit and that the demand for Evo franchise is also too low for profit.
From what I've seen here there are enough people who want it back on and considering that I only went actively into fanhood (all I've done previously is buy every videogame and read almost every fanfic out there) a few days ago that only proves that there are thousands of untapped fans out there.
Here is my proposal: Someone gets the E-mail of either the head of WB or cartoon network or whoever was making the DVDs (Lions Gate I think) and post it on this thread, then each an devery person who wishes to see X-men evolution live e-mails those people saying that they want it. I don't care if you use multiple e-mails or only send one, but if enough of us speak our minds, we may have a chance.
I cannot garuntee we will succeed, but we can do the best we can and if we fail, oh well we can try again, and if we succeed it will be an extra half hour a day that we are happy. You can scoff at me while you read this, go ahead post it. I want to get feedback and not all good. I will be on a search for all the info I can and Will keep you all updated.
We can win this fight. Go ahead read my signature and take this call to action and PROVE ME WRONG!

So this is basically something that supports X Evo to start up again?

Yeah, but I'm not going fully for it to start new episodes, it would be nice just to get them all on DVD.
Edited by Stu: Please don't talk about bootlegs on Toon Zone. It's not allowed.
Whoops sorry Stu. My bad, just kind of ranting.

What is taking them so long to just release a bunch of evo episodes on DVD, I am like DYING to hear news from someone in this whole wide world to tell us something about season 3 of X-Men:Evolution on DVD.

I don't know why it takes so long but from what I've heard Lions gate or WB or whoever had the liscense to make it lost it or it ended (Don't know exactly how that works) and they can't make it and don't want to buy it again because they fear of loss of profit, so instead they'll lose loyal customers.

Oh my God! This is too bad, they have lost the license, just could not I thought they could possibly be more carleess
Well y cant they just make a new one? I am so waiting for season 3 and 4 to be on dvd, if only I could catch up with any one of the evo staff...

I guess if Kim Possible can be brought back by demand, anything is...well,possible.(no pun intended.)
Fair warning though:
Almost as soon as Evo ended almost three years ago,I tried to bring it back with no success whatsoever.I was in full throttle and dragged along anyone I could get to help in the crusade.People we're willing...for a time.
Everything fell apart within at least a year.Even as I saw things were falling to pieces,I was still determind to try.Didn't work.
That was just to bring back a fifth season.
In theory,it would be easier to ask for DVD's or re-runs,as there is little production cost with those,I would think.
There is still an interest in evo, yes, but it seems to be very small.
Simply, people don't want to admit to being Evo fans because the show
has gotten such bad feedback from hardcore comic fans and others, besides
being considered only a 'kid's show',when it's really at the level of shows made
for young adults, even if it does not seem that way at first glance.
Many have refused to give it a chance beyond it's first and second seasons to see how well it matured and blossomed into such a fantastic series.
I want Evo back, too, but at this point,it feels highly unlikley that anything should happen.I have no idea what's going on with the DVD hold up,I am just waiting and watching for news.
I might send off an e-mail.I'm just not so sure that it would do any good.

I think they need to get over it if they gripe about it being inaccurate to the comics, the entire concept won't be ABLE to follow totally well, but who cares, it still turned out to be awesome.
It isn't a kid's show only, young kids can enjoy it, but so can adults of all ages. It's versitale, it isn't aimed strictly to one age group, people seem to think that in order to be anything but a kids show they need to have a river of blood, a script full of cussing, etc., etc., to make it aimed for older audiences. X_X
Either way, we need DVDs, and it would be incredibly and overwhelmingly nice to get a fifth season airing, but that seems unlikely, but maybe someday God-willing...

Well, I think that what you all have said is basically true:
A fifth season is near impossible to attain, I have info from another thread I've been posting on (called "the end of X-men evolution") that they are going to come up with a new x-men show, which makes it more of a flop, who wants to have competeing x-men shows. I personally think that if they continued on x-men evo it would be better because it's already set up the characters and character developement would not be as necesary, but i'm interested in how they'll do it.
Asking for DVDs and reruns will be a lot easier. The last episode was an awesome closer on the whole show, let alone the season. The whole demeanor in which it was presented was in closing and if they continued, it would be a bit anticlimactic(even though I would love it to continue).
I also think that while this new show is being created, reruns could get the show kicked off(as in started) and have it be better(quite possibly anyway). Besides, if they were to start up on the new season, they would have too much to incorporate (everything from the braddock twins to rogue's flying to the phoenix) and it might be a bit too much too live up to or even a bit cliche because of what has been done in the comics and 90's cartoon.
Either way I hope that you do send out an e-mail and it would probably have most affect on WB, but I have yet to find a way to contact them, and I've been searching.
I hope that you all feel that it is not wrong to think a "kiddy" show is awesome, because it's not a kiddy show it is truly aimed at teenagers, and eeryone loves when something else that is based off of something they like is made. Besides, who honestly cares if you're over the targeted audiences age, it only helps to show that the audience is a lot bigger than they thought. I am proud to be an x-men fan even if it makes me wierd or a nerd, because it makes me happy.
So go on and push again, sometimes all something needs is time for rest. Many shows come around again(I mean they're playing the 90's cartoon on toon disney so hope is not all lost).
I'll Post later!

I really liked the show, too. I would like to see it come back but I don't know how realistic that is. I did not get to see all of the episodes so I would really like to see the rest of the show released on DVD. I've already got all of the DVD's released so far.
Perhaps strong demand for the DVD followed by strong DVD sales could generate new life for the show. The extreme example would be Family Guy, with strong DVD sales leading to new seasons. But who knows? Maybe strong DVD sales could at least lead to a DTV movie someday, if the licensing ever gets worked out.
I never got to see the last season so I don't have any opinion on the final episode yet. But I always think it's great when shows that I like "move on" beyond the original premise in later seasons. I think it would be great if the new X-Men series was a continuation of X-Men Evolution, perhaps dealing with the characters in their college age or young adult years.

If I were you I'd e-mail both Marvel and the WB.
(there should be an e-mail adress on each of their official websites.)
Marvel, because they're the reason that Evo was cancelled;they didn't want to continue it because of poor toy sales or whatever, and because it's appearantly their show.
The WB because they help put out the DVD's,though as I understand it,it's completly Marvel's property to do with what they wish (hence cancellation).
The only reason Toon disney is showing the 90's cartoon is because of some legal thing with Marvel;TD didn't show the intire series nor advertise it well,so Marvel got on them about that,so now they are. That's not a rumor,I did read it somewhere.

Why was Marvel the reason the show was cancelled? You mean it wasn't the standard 52 episode syndication deal?
And the more I think about it, there's no reason why the new X-Men series couldn't be a sequel to Evo. It's not like they have to name it Evolution: The College Years or something. It's not like Justice League ever announced their relationship to BTAS or STAS. They just did it during the show. All they would need to do would be to use roughly the same character set and (preferably) the same voice actors. The same style of animation would be good, too, but not totally important to me, though I think it would be a good choice because Evo always looked great.
Well, here's hoping, anyways.

Wow, you're right I never thought of Marvel, how could I forget, thank you very much. I just want to say that I did search the site of Warner brothers and I couldn't find an e-mail address on the page. I moght have just missed it, so if you could take a look and if you find it, post it, that would be great.
I would like to thank you all for your posts, they have made me change my perspective on the issue and I find it very helpfull. On another note I think that I will post the E-mail of marvel as well and you should send an e-mail showing your interest. It may not be much, but what the heck why not. Now is as good a time as even to try and rekindle the x-men with the next movie in production.
Thanks again guys.

Not to mention the whole "bad toy sales justified cancelling the TV show" bit is bull anyways. I'm a rabid Evo fan, and even I have to admit the toys were utter crud. (...A slime locker with Toad?) Perhaps better TOYS and better MARKETING, and they wouldn't have sold so badly!

I don't think that there was any problem at all with the Evo concept in general and that merchandise should not make or break a show, if it did then shows like stargate would be dead in the water, same with all the CSIs Medium and way too many other shows to count. YES! I want a fake CSI penlight for christmas so I can pretend to see blood on the walls. Yeah, that's just horrible. I have not been able to reach Marvel for unknown reasons their site is being very uncooperative so I'm still asking for those more resourceful than me to get their e-mails

That's just it,though. Those shows are aimed at adults not kids.
They have little or no need for merchandise to make or break ratings or to continue a show. Those shows run on the interest of the viewers.Evo didn't.
Appearantly Marvel just did not want to invest in a show that did not bring
in money thru their merchandise. They get a lot of money from toys, comics
and the like,so why shouldn't Evo have gotten the boot because of that ?

What is wrong with their site ?I got through it just fine. Here you are.

Just go through the pull down list and pick what category you think is best.
It should go through.
I couldn't get in the WB site because they run on quicktime and my quicktime isn't working so well on websites. The best thing I can think of is to send it through the WB station site (thewb.warnerbros.com) and ask them to send it to the company or DVD site.At the station site, there's a link at the bottom that says 'contact us'.

She's right. Toy sales are pivotal for a kids show, with often both the creators and the station airing the show getting a cut. For adults, the revenue more comes from buying things seen in the commercial breaks. The company pay the the network to run their advertisment. If a large number of people are watching, they're influenced to buy the product. As sales increase as a result, the company continues to buy more advertising from the network. If less people are watching, that's less sales, less ad space being bought and less incentive to keep the show on the air. The key difference is that whilst advertising for adult aimed shows cover a range of things because adults have a flexable income, kids mainly have to rely on money from their parents and are only likely to use this limited amout of money to buy things for their specific interest/pleasure such as games, comics, toys, etc.
At the end of the day, it's all business. Sure the people making the shows may do it for creativities sake but the shows wouldn't be airing if money wasn't being made. TV shows are basically how the networks get you to sit down and hear their sponsor's pitch.

Okay, wow I definitely didn't think that through. You are completely right, kids shows are based off of merchandise, but still it isn't the only reason for canning a show. Thank you for the link to marvel, it turns out my wireless DSL was dyeing on me and, well, everyone knows how frustrating that can be and I thought it was the website. I have sent away my e-mail and am now playing the waiting game. I have yet to try WB again, i'm running short on time at the moment. I'm asking for what the real situation is so that the rumors can be dispelled, so lets hope it is good news. Only time will tell.

I know, even as a huge obsessive Evo fan, the toys were incredibly sucky, I can't help but say. Very few of them were even show-based and they left out alot of the best characters from toys to make more room for 500 Wolvie and Nightcrawler figs. X_X

I'm not going to hope for a new season (although DVDs of the entire series would be nice) but could they at least incorporate some Evo concepts into the comics or movies or whatever? It had some really nice additions (seriously, Alvers or Petros as Avalanche?) that had a lot of potential.

I think doing that would be quite complicated and given the age of the characters in the comics and cartoons it couldn't be done. I really can't see the comic version of Kitty Pryde and Avalanche having a relationship (besides isn't Avalanche dead in the regular comics?). Not without a total "day one" type revamp could alot of these changes from the cartoon be implimented.

Well, no response from Anyone on the whole thing. I'm trying to decide if they saw X-men Evo as the title and trashed it or if they have too much stuff to read. Oh, well. Unfortunately I think this will still be the wait and hope thoing, but I can garuntee that unless one of you has a rich relative that will pay them to finish the DVDs, we won't have a surefire way of knowing if anything will happen with X-men Evo. I know it's pretty pecemistic, but unfortunately it is also realistic. (The rich relative thing is actually a good idea, I don't think it would be too big a thing, maybe take all the people on the thread and ask for an address and ship 'em out! Yeah...that would be cool, but unrealistic). I wish you all the best and I'm crossing my fingers.:shake: Yeah, that sums it up right there, yup...*sigh*...hasta luego mis amigos.

Well,at least were now getting a season set, eventhough the show's been cancelled for almost three years.
I mean,Teen Titans is getting canned in three more episodes
(Unless by some miracle it's fans pleas lead to a sixth season.
Been there,done that,bought the T-shirt).
We (Evo fans) didn't even get that kind of notice. We
got "Wait and see! We're going to suprise you!"
then months later we got
"oh,sorry,we have to cancel it!"
So,now I'm grateful for the confirmation of an actual season set.
At least this way, those of us who are still fans can see what we missed out on or re-watch the favorite episodes in shiny, new DVD format.
The show went out with a huge bang and that was probably more then any of
us had asked or even hoped for.Getting DVD's after a very long wait and thinking that we'd never get them is just a great suprise. It's just the icing on the cake.

If you are I wouldn't expect a reply for a long time if at all. Besides it was Film Roman who produced the episodes and WB only distributed them. The show has long since been cancelled so I think it's time to move on. With Mr. Kirkland saying the DVDs are coming I'm happy with that.

All I want is the DVD's and if we get 'em then I'm not putting any more effort into contacting people, I'm just not the patient type of person. Besides, If they make the third season, they kind of have to make the fourth or at least might as well.
