Especially when they have such a wonderful Bruce Timm picture at their disposal:

I don't understand. The one that they're using is god-awful!

I was extremely dissapointed when I saw the cover art. I was really hoping they may go for something different, to make it different from the VHS release. I can still remember seeing the horrible art for the first time. That has to be the worst Lex Luthor art ever.

Great question!

That pic blows and does the movie absolutely no justice.
I guess we should just be happy that we are finally getting the movie on DVD.

Let's face it: They don't care how we feel about it....
It wouldn't be too much trouble to change it to somehting else. Too lazy maybe? .....better yet too cheap?

Maybe it because they want it to be recognisable from the VHS release?

They probably think we would be too confused to recognize anything different on the shelf and wouldn't buy it with new art!

Hey, that Timm drawing is AWESOME. I wish I had a high quality printer so I could save it and print it off as a custom cover for my DVD. Oh, wait, I couldn't insert it into the DVD for a substitue cover...BECAUSE IT WILL BE A SNAPPER CASE! Make that reason #11 to hate snappers!

That Bruce Timm art was actually the cover art for the World's Finest comic adaptation. WB used different artwork for the Iron Giant DVD...why not here as well?

Cause to them that slice of crap looks good....:D

Even that Timm artwork doesn't do anything for me...

I would have liked to see a Batman/Superman graphic. You know, the one where an "S"-shield is over a Batsymbol?

Like I am glad the Guard said it because like that Bruce Timm picture isn't great. Why couldn't they just use the bat and S logo's? hehe

Anyone see the artwork on the back of the new issue of Wizard, for the BATMAN VS SUPERMAN event? It has black siloettes (sp) of the two characters, with only their logos visible. I think that would make a great cover.

Yeah good idea, DG. That thing looks awesome! :)

Hey, WB also used different artwork for the region two release of Iron Giant. I wonder if the region two covers for these Batman DVDs will differ?

Doubtful. The Region 2 art for ROTJ was exactly same and the VHS cover for the Region 2 (or whatever) VHS was also identical. I don't even thing they're trying.

we will know for sure when these DVDs are posted on amazon.co.uk, but right now they aren't.

I can already gaurentee you now the artwork will be exactly the same. WB doesn't really put much thought into this kind of thing except for the odd movie here and there. There's so much better art that could've been used. I saw a peice of Bruce Timm artwork not long away that would have been perfect for this...

I am still tempted to design my own DVD insert and print it off. I'd keep the snapper, of course, but throw it in the closet with that crappy cardboard Moulin Rouge case (I got the plastic keep case the rental copy came in from work.) I know that there are people who do the same for the X Files sets, make their own inserts for each DVD.
