I've always been known as one system behind everyone else, and when today, the day the X-Box 360 came out, my friend offered me his X-Box, I gladly accepted. Sure, I have to shell out some dough, but I don't care. Recommend some games to add to this list:

Halo
Halo 2
GTA 3/VC/SA
Splinter Cell 1-3
Fable
Ninja Gaiden

I'm sure there are others I'm currently forgetting.

So you have an idea of what to recommend, my favorite genre is RPG/Strategy, followed closely by Platformers/Adventures, FPS's, and Fighting. Arcade classics follow after that. I can tollerate Sports games, but I'm not particularly interested in Racing (Mario Kart is the exception, but it's obviously not on X-Box).

If I had an xbox the first game I'd try out would be Jade Empire.

Good list so far, here's some other titles I can reccommend (some might already be on Gamecube or PS2):

* Beyond Good and Evil (Very Low Price yet Very Fun Game, Plays Very much like Zelda)
* Shenmue 2 (If you played the first one on Dreamcast, you definitely know how this one plays. I think I'm more into this game for the story rather than the gameplay, which I admit is rather slow)
* Panzer Dragoon Orta (Fun Star Fox like game, might be hard to find but it's a blast and you should be able to acquire at a low price)
* Chronicles of Riddick: Escape From Butcher Bay (Interesting take on the First Person Shooter, I'm not a huge fan of the movie, but I did love the game. It's a little bit short, but it's very good looking graphically and at the prices you can find it for, the fun you have makes up for it's short length.)
* Jet Set Radio Future (Fun Skating/Grafitti Game. You can get it as low as $4 if you find the right place, you also might Sega GT with it too. I got the combo disc, so it's like buying two games at $4, even though I just bought it for JSFR)
* Metal Gear Solid 2 (Awesome Espionage Action. If you don't own a PS2, pick it up on Xbox. Play MGS1 on PS1 or Gamecube before playing it for the best experience, I just started getting into this series I'm working on 3 right now.)

Titles I might pick up later that you might want....
* Stubbs The Zombie (Third Person Action game using the Halo 2 engine so I heard. Sounds like a funny and fun time.)
* Doom 3 (Sequel to the first person shooter starting it all)
* Half-Life 2 (Highly Praised on the PC as one of the best FPS ever)

As an RPG fan, I don't know HOW I forgot Knights of the Old Republic!

And I also forgot about MGS2, I'm definitely getting that.

Hey if you're at a Blockbuster Video, they should be holding a 25% off used games sale. If you don't mind picking up used titles, this is a great opportunity to get some of those titles. For example, I picked up Jade Empire for only $12!

If you don't already have it (or the third one) on another platform, Soul Calibur II is a must. Twenty bucks for one of the finest fighters ever created can't be beat.

You said you generally don't like racing games, but I really can't recommend Burnout 3: Takedown highly enough. It's very approachable-- no import tuning to be found anywhere!-- and while it's quite different from the Mario Kart series in presentation, it's similar in that the actual racing often takes a back seat to destroying your opponent's vehicle by whatever means are available to you. (-: Avoid Burnout: Revenge-- it's not a bad game, but it's weak sauce compared to number 3, so why pay full price for it when Takedown can be found at bargain prices?
